Welcome to the 2018 renting season! As of early March during the high season we have one week available in June and one week in July.
We look forward to hearing from you if this fits your desired schedule.
Whether you are a couple looking for a quiet weekend away, or a big family looking for a place that can accommodate up to 12 people or folks of different ages, this is the place for you. With beautiful views, ample space and beach-front access, this house can't be beat!
This classic beachfront house is located on the private side of Goose Rocks and has direct access to three miles of pristine, white sand beach. Used by family members and a stable group of long-time renters, there are only a few weeks available each year. The first floor has a kitchen and bathroom, both recently renovated, one bedroom, and an open, integrated living and dining room. This main area has three seating arrangements, an 8-10 person dining table, a picture window looking onto the beach, and a flat screen TV. The main living area opens to the outdoor deck, which has a gas grill and an umbrella-covered outdoor dining table. This is a terrific location to relax in the late afternoon. The upstairs contains a full bathroom and three bedrooms: one ‘bunk room’ with six single beds, one bedroom with two twin beds, and a master bedroom with a queen bed. The front lawn contains Adirondack chairs and a low table, perfect for morning coffee. The lawn, which is dotted with pine trees, encircles the house and completes the setting.

About Michael Rigney
Our family has owned this house since the mid 1980's, when our parents went searching for a vacation home in Maine. We're a big family -- seven children -- and the house has been a formative part of our lives. We played here as children, lived and worked here together as teenagers and college students, and now bring our own families here to play in the sand and swim in the ocean.
Michael Rigney purchased this House in 1986
Why Michael Rigney chose Goose Rocks Beach
Our ongoing family tradition captures what's special about this property: upon first arriving, we almost always walk up the side lawn to get a look at the beach. Thirty years later, it's a favorite part of the ritual of coming back.
What makes this House unique
The house is located directly on the beach, allowing easy access and a relaxed, full experience of the beach, Goosefare Bay, and the open ocean, from dawn to dusk and into the night. The front lawn is an ideal location for morning coffee, afternoon reading, or evening beach viewing.

Wonderful Family Trip to Goose Rocks Beach!
This house is perfect. Everything you need for a wonderful stay and right on the beach! With 10 people ranging in age from 6-72, we all had a wonderful time celebrating at 50th wedding anniversary. The owners are very responsive and reachable. The beach is beautiful and the house is the perfect size. We will be back!
Oceanfront dream house
Once again we had a marvelous time in Maine with my family. The house was perfect. Everything we needed was available. The beds were confortable. Kitchenware, nothing missing. Windows everywhere, the beach fabulous. The owners were easily reachable and gave good advices on place to buy good fish. We had the luck to have a full moon night and clear sky. I wish I could keep it a secret, but since I'm a generous kind, I wanted to share my experience with you all. Thank you to the Rigney family to share their house.
The Best Beach in Southern Maine
I've spent vacations at this comfortable home on Goose Rocks Beach since 2012, and experienced it in all seasons and weather. Although I've enjoyed it even when it rained for several days late in the season one fall, we still enjoyed ourselves and left renewed and well-rested.
We tend to book dates in the spring and fall months, when most tourists have left the area, but you won't find a nice beach in Southern Maine during July or August, when the main attraction is the massive white sand beach. This house, and this part of the beach, has become such a special place to us that my husband and I hosted a small wedding party and intimate reception here in 2014. We love it so much that getting up to spend a week, or even a weekend a couple of times a year has become a highlight of our calendar.
What brings us back over and over: spectacular, unimpeded views from the master bedroom, living room and dining room (they couldn't be better as the house is filled with large of windows on the lower level); immediate access to the white sand beach (with chairs, umbrellas, toys in the basement for our use); a cozy, well-appointed kitchen where we happily make all of our meals since we rarely want to leave the beach, even for a nice meal out; comfortable beds and high quality bedding (unfortunately this isn't always the case with every vacation rental we've tried); a generous dining table (seats 12) for when we're entertaining friends; truly stunning sunrises and sunsets; a nice collection of books, especially related to the local landscape and lore; amazing fresh air to clear your mind and soul; plenty of quiet; gorgeous starry night skies; ample privacy, especially in May, September and October, which are our favorite months to visit.
In short: we are in love with this place and highly recommend it!
Our seven year old loves GRB, too, and we've noticed that even one day in this setting calms her like nothing else; she's happy to spend hours playing in the sand or exploring the rocks along the shore, looking for sea creatures, and meeting other kids, of which there are a few in the neighborhood. The area attracts many who've been coming to the area for decades and generations.
The house received many updates and new furniture in recent years: it's very clean, newly painted, and tastefully decorated, while retaining the soulfulness that comes from a home that holds history and happy memories.
Wonderful Beach House for Family
I've been going to Goose Rocks Beach since the early 1980s. It's not only one of the best beaches in Maine, it's one of the best in all of New England. Where else can you find the combination of fine sand beach (two miles of it!) plus a protected bay, plus scant crowds, plus incredible views? I've been to Hammonasset in CT, Misquamicut in RI, many locations on the Cape, and Crane Beach north of Boston. Goose Rocks is the best beach I know. There's lots to explore for kids and adults, with two estuary outlets on either end of the beach, rocks exposed at low tide, The Tides Beach Club for dinner or drinks, a general store, and Cape Porpoise and Kennebunkport nearby.
This particular house is sited in the exact middle of the private side of Goose Rocks, directly on the beach. It's private, with the best sunrise and moonrise viewing I've ever seen. It has a lawn that sits above the beach by ten or fifteen feet, and easy access down to the sand and waves. The family is great to deal with--fair and very responsive to questions, needs, and requests. The house itself is newly redecorated downstairs, with a great kitchen and various sitting areas with views over the water. The upstairs retains the charm of a beach cottage and can fit tons of people. Our family has been there with about ten people and it accommodated everyone just fine. People left saying how much they'd remember enjoying their morning coffee in the front sitting areas watching the sun rise.
My family and I have stayed at this house several times, and I have vacationed at Goose Rocks since I was a teenager. The beach is just as spectacular and serene now as it was two decades ago (it never feels too crowded or loud, and it is perfect for long walks.) The house is on the private end of the beach--directly on the water. The views are unbeatable, the sunsets magical.
The house is recently renovated. Although it has always been comfortable and clean, it is now absolutely beautiful. Plenty of lovely sitting areas, a well-equipped kitchen, etc. It is a very well-cared for home, and the location cannot be beat.
I have traveled a fair amount, and this beach remains one of my absolute favorite places. It is truly special.
Never Want to Leave
I've been to this home several times both during shoulder and high seasons. Whether playing bocce on the beach with graduate school friends who have flown in from around the country to meet up here, having a quiet romantic weekend, or spending a week in August with my partner and our twin toddlers, the house and beach have consistently provided a much needed respite, a place to unplug (although you don't have to as there is wireless), an unbeatable view, and everything we need for a self-contained vacation.
The proximity to the beach is unbeatable. The recently professionally redecorated interior and upgrade is comfortable, tasteful and not chintzy as many beach homes tend to be. The open floor plan on the first floor is wonderful for larger groups and/or families with children as one can feel connected (or keep an eye on younger children) but still enjoy a number of distinct nooks and sitting areas. The beach itself is extraordinary, and the option to enjoy tide pools and the estuary on either end of the beach provides never-ending pleasure for paddlers, beachcombers, and children alike. For active folks, there are several loops from the house which are good for runners, walkers and cyclists. Although there are many restaurants within a short drive, we tend to stay in and cook. The kitchen is well equipped. We often use the grill and enjoy supper on the table on the back porch. The large country farm style table indoors is comfortable for entertaining, and is also a nice work surface for computers, projects, puzzles, boardgames, etc. The two sitting areas that directly face the beach are the perfect place for an early morning coffee, an evening glass of wine (and really everything in between).
I've had a satisfying stay every time. I leave feeling rested. I've never wanted my time at this home to end.
