Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed our time at the Hoot Owl! It was so great to unplug and unwind for the weekend! We left snow behind only to enjoy much more when we arrived here. The area is so beautiful and breathtaking that we didn't mind the hike up the hill.:)

Thank you for letting us enjoy this cozy getaway, and for giving us such great directions when our GPS failed us! (And we escaped the earthquake in SC by being here!!)

Thank you again!

Cozy and quiet

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great week at Hoot Owl for spring break. The Pac Man game was used daily and the rocking chair in the den was bliss after a long day on the mtn trails. The decor was great!

The cabin is approximately 15-20 min from Hendersonville. Beautiful apple orchards on the way to it were always a delight to look at.

Great Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 had an amazing time at Hoot Owl! Beautiful cabin tucked away in the hills. Beds and couches were comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped for all of our needs. Hot tub was a nice treat after some day trips into nearby Asheville and Chimney Rock. We enjoyed some competitive games of foosball late into the night.

Only two negatives: 1. Wifi password was not what the HomeAway app states and had to search for it (on router at the bar). 2. While the cabin has running water both hot and cold that is suitable for bathing and brushing teeth, it had a weird taste and I would strongly recommend bringing drinking water.

We definitely recommend staying here, especially if you're looking for a fun place to get away with the kids. We will be back when we visit the Hendersonville area again!

Nice, quiet, secluded hideaway for a short NC mountains vacation

  • 4 of 5

2 adults and 2 children (under the age of 10) stayed for 2 nights. The property is in a very quiet, almost secluded area. We loved the rustic and 'different' furnishings in the house. Initially had issues with the Internet password, but were able to get on (perhaps the rental company changed the password from the original password supplied to us, but we were able to find the correct password quickly); the owner responded to check on our status within an hour of calling him about the password issue, which we were appreciative of. Cell phone reception (Verizon) was non-existent until you went perhaps an eighth of a mile up the road, but that was not really an issue or unexpected.

The separate play room was pretty neat, although we didn't spend time there; the NeoGeo game came on but it appeared the screen was not working correctly - we didn't really investigate it further as we weren't going to play it, but just something for the owners to check on.

Very tidy (some bugs in the house, but considering it is the mountains and the temperatures were still warm, that wasn't terribly surprising) and comfortable accommodations for a family of 4 with smaller children. The front door is a bit tricky to lock (you can't pull on it all the way or the deadbolt won't work), but we were able to lock after a few tries. Kids (and parents) loved playing Angry Birds on Hulu at night!

Overall pleasant experience and if you are looking for a place that is a little off the beaten path (just a 20-minute or so drive to get to larger stores), you cannot go wrong here!

Perfect cabin for a couple or small family

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I really enjoyed our stay at the Hoot Owl! The cabin had everything that we needed & was very comfortable. It was only a 20 drive into Hendersonville, and about 30-45 minutes to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. The only problems we had were with the hot tub & the wifi. On the 1st night the hot tub felt great, but every day thereafter the temperature was just WAY too hot to get in. We tried turning down the temp a couple times but we just could not get it comfortable again. And, the wifi was very spotty & slow while we were there, so phone service was almost nil while at the cabin. We loved the cabin decor & the arcade game upstairs though! Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone! And, many thanks (again) to Robert for accommodating us after we had to cancel last minute back in May! We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to the area!
