Rustic but comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Clean and well-maintained. Very close to downtown, which is both good and bad - you can hear car noise and the property is bordered by a busy road. Heavenly for dogs! They can roam the entire property securely fenced in. Beautiful view of pretty pond and screened by lots of trees.

I would give the location and lake several stars! The cabin--I would give it -2 stars!

  • 1 of 5

Egg crates as insulation in the LR window. A fireplace that comes on and off for no reason. That seems dangerous---you leave the cabin for dinner out, return home and the gas fireplace is raging. Drawers under the bed that house pet-hair covered linens. Dirty linens from the previous renter. A canoe with a rotted-out seat. A musty odor that permeates the bedroom and bath. A screened porch cluttered with paint supplies. Yes, the paint supplies bothered me--why would I have to clean up the clutter to have friends over for dinner?

Egg crates? Did not bother me ----they just made it very clear that you care nothing about this property. You have owned the place for seven years, live very close by, and have no clue that there are egg crates to fill in the space between a window ac and the window jam!

That was my experience at your rental. The lake was great-too bad I did not have a tent with me!

Owner's Response: I don't understand how egg cartons inside the walls are a reason to complain. This beautiful place is a 1940's cabin, not a hotel. This is NOT visible unless you go looking inside the wall next to the AC, behind the curtain. It obviously bothered this guest or why would they mention it? Frankly I wasn't aware of it and don't see why it matters. There was a cold snap and the heat was left on for guest comfort. It's a gas stove and has a knob to adjust the temp. She didn't get that, and could have reached out to me, but did not. The linens under the bed were not covered with pet hair, I put them there myself. The last guest gave high compliments for the cleanliness of the cabin and I have alerted the new cleaners. The canoe seat I did not know about. There is a new center seat that lives in the outside storage box, as it does not attach. I have now taken it out and placed it near the oars, so it's more obvious. The cabin was in the middle of an exterior porch paint job when booked at the last minute. I allowed the painter put the supplies in a corner of one of the 3 porches. The paint job is now finished and looks great! The last guests linens were in a bag and left there by mistake by new cleaning lady. This and the paint supplies could have easily been removed. Had I thought this would be an issue at all, I would not have left them. But would have responded immediately, given the opportunity. I just don't understand why this guest chose to stay unhappy and complain rather than allowing me to accommodate. Most people have been grateful for the ability to enjoy Timberlake, as am I when able. Fortunately, this guest was one of a very few that were not satisfied over the 10 year rental life of Timberlake Cabin. Check out the Visitor's Log for wonderful guest stories from the past! Sincerely, Anne

A place to relax and renew.

  • 5 of 5

This was such a great place to spend our Spring Break. The house was clean and stocked with the essentials. The bed was extremely comfortable with memory foam mattress and extra blankets and pillows. Anytime I see that a place is pet friendly I always wander if I will be able to tell that dogs have been there. We decided not to bring our doggie this time and really wish we had. There was absolutley no trace of previous pets. Very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The wood walls and ceiling beams added to the quaint charm. We had a great time out in the canoe during the day. At night we were either in the swing or enjoying the rocking chairs on the lake side covered porch. Downtown Hendersonville restaurants (Moe's BBQ) and pizza delivery were great for dinner. The house had books, games, bamboo fishing poles with tacklebox. Hubby caught a big mouth bass and we saw the monster fish that lives in the lake. Geese and ducks like to stop in and wet their feet. Going to sleep listing to the frogs and crickets was very peaceful. Absolutely loved this place and already talking about planning another trip back here. Also, Dupont State Park was only 30 minutes from the cabin. Great place for hiking and waterfalls.

Cozy cabin wooded and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This cozy little cabin is wooded and peaceful sitting on a private pond. We enjoyed using the canoe and rocking and sitting in the porch swing while listening to birdsong. This little cabin is perfect for a couple or small family who like a rustic setting and spending time outdoors. It is conveniently located about 5-10 mins to downtown Hendersonville and is close to good hiking trails, apple picking, and local arts and crafts festivals. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the outdoor screened porch was a great place to sit outside and play games in the evening. All in all, this cabin is a good value in a good location.
