A place to relax!
Upon entering the property I was in love with it. The cabin was older (but clean with modern plumbing and a good shower) which reminded me of my inlaws place in Northern Wisconsin on a lake. We loved the close proximity of downtown and the fact that it was dog friendly was perfect for us! Our two Great Danes could explore the property and it was like their own private dog park. I did a lot of cooking as we couldn't leave our dogs alone and would have liked a few more dishtowels as I could only find the one on the handle of the fridge. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place-we will be back.
Love the location of this cabin and the view and that we could bring both of our dogs. But it needs a good bit of attention and a good cleaning. I don’t think the bathroom had been cleaned before we checked in. The only warm place in the cabin was within 3 feet of the only heat source so we left a day early. It was 22 degrees outside. The owner did say she would have someone bring us a space heater. The towels were old and worn and one had a huge hole in it. The bathroom tumbler had toothpaste residue in it. With a little work, a good cleaning and some improvements, this could be a good place to stay.
Very sorry you experienced this. Only one other guest has given us a low score. Most guests have an excellent experience at Timberlake. Winter is a challenging month, especially this year, and improvements are in progress, as I told you when you first gave me this feedback. You unfortunately experienced one of the coldest, longest winter weather period in history. When the weather is as it usually is, it gets very hot inside. However, a new heating system is being installed in two weeks, as part of a remodel which will add a bedroom. What you thought was mold was missing grout/paint specs on the wall, which has been touched up. It is an old tub, but clean. There is a stain on the floor, caused by a leak in the wall, which has been fixed and the linoleum is being replaced. There was no excuse for a torn towel, as I have many new ones. You should not have had an unclean drink cup. There are many clean cups in the kitchen. We are now using wrapped plastic cups in the bathroom instead. The cleaner has been replaced. I did not charge you for using the fireplace and firewood as I normally would, in an effort to make this up to you. You should not have experienced this and I would also have offered you a discount upon your return. Sincerely, Anne
had the greatest time ,close to everything we wanted to do , will revisit again !!!!
No washer & dryer. Bathroom wss full of mildew. If your looking for a glorified camp site, this is you place. Overall we had a good time. Kids loved fishing and boating on property.
Timberlake Cabin description is clear that there is no washer or dryer. I can see why you need it, because every linen and towel in the cabin was used, which is abnormal. My cleaner also informed me that he will be charging me more if he finds as much cleaning required as from your stay.
Perhaps this review is sour grapes? You didn't write this review until I charged you for the firewood you used? It is clear online and by the sign on the firewood that this is an additional charge. And for you to claim that there was no sign, is just dishonest. You would not be welcome back in future.
The shower curtain liner, where there was some mildew was scheduled to be and has been replaced. There is no other mildew in the bathroom.
Property was beautiful. A little noisy from road. Cabin was beautiful. Needed more towels and needed more cleaning.
Dog friendly rustic retreat
I think expectations are huge here whether or not you will be happy. I've traveled 5 star all the way down. This is not The Biltmore, do not expect luxury. This place reminds me of an old family fishing camp. That being said, we were pleased. We wanted to travel with our dogs and we thought we might use the canoe and enjoy the property. Weather did not permit but it was a nice view. The gate is not automated, so don't expect to plug in a code and drive through. The floors slump and creak. There is no central hvac. The kitchen and bath may be original. That being said, we enjoyed the fireplace immensely and the gas heater kept us from freezing to death at night. The water pressure was great in the shower and all of the basics were available to us. We traveled to Saluda Sunday morning and took in the fall foliage along the way for what was one of the best meals of my life, brunch at Newman's located at The Orchard Inn. Timberlake is in the middle of everything but secluded. You will hear traffic but you won't see much of it and with the property gated and fenced we felt safe with our furry ones running about. The Fresh Market grocery chain around the corner has great food and we enjoyed lobster tails one night and a dill salmon another night. There are plenty of games and after dinner my husband and I tested our logic with Mastermind while sipping a toddy in front of the fire. If you prefer to eat out there are many options from chains to local joints. There were a few negative reviews that I can see where they may have been disappointed and have some legitimacy so make sure you are booking a property that meets your expectations and you'll have a wonderful stay - I know we did.
Our properties are close to many things in the Western North Carolina area like the The Flat Rock Theatre, Tour the National Park Service’s Connemara, the former home to Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Carl Sandberg. Historic Downtown Hendersonville offers a serpentine Main Street, perfect for strolling as you enjoy the many art galleries, antique stores, unique shops and fabulous restaurants. Throughout the year there are many downtown festivals and events with the fall Apple Festival as one of the largest.
Within one hour of Hendersonville you can experience the rolling hills and equestrian countryside of Polk County known for their annual BBQ Festival, or Buncombe County’s eclectic city of Asheville with its world renowned Biltmore Estate, or you can take a beautiful drive to Brevard in Transylvania County and experience the “land of the waterfalls” and see numerous white squirrels! Rutherford County has a great deal to offer with the stunning views at Chimney Rock Park and Lake Lure.
