Cozy cabin wooded and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This cozy little cabin is wooded and peaceful sitting on a private pond. We enjoyed using the canoe and rocking and sitting in the porch swing while listening to birdsong. This little cabin is perfect for a couple or small family who like a rustic setting and spending time outdoors. It is conveniently located about 5-10 mins to downtown Hendersonville and is close to good hiking trails, apple picking, and local arts and crafts festivals. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the outdoor screened porch was a great place to sit outside and play games in the evening. All in all, this cabin is a good value in a good location.

Everything we needed for long weekend with two dogs

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed for 3 nights with our two dogs. The cabin is really cozy, quiet and close enough to be able to enjoy downtown Hendersonville.

Owner's Response: I am sorry you were not happy with your stay. If there were issues, you could have contacted me for some resolution. Timberlake is a 1940 mountain cabin. It sound like you might be happier in future with a hotel.

Nicely equipped, clean property, in great location exactly as advertised

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was great. This cabin provided more of the essentials than any other we've stayed at in the area. For example, there was hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, all kinds of spices, plastic wrap for leftovers, etc. We had everything we needed. Both our 5 year old child and 10 year old dog loved the cabin and the pond. The location can't be beat. You get the feeling that you are away from it all while being close to everything in Hendersonville. The only negative, and it is a small one, is that it was too hot for us to get to sleep at night in the bedroom. The lowest overnight temperatures were still in the 70s, so opening the windows at bedtime did not help. There are futons in the living room right in front of the air conditioner that we could have moved to, but we didn't. If it had been spring or fall, I am sure our stay would have been absolutely perfect.

Owner's Response: Thank you Darlene for your feedback. Had not heard the air issue before, so I am taking steps immediately to install a window unit in the bedroom, during the summer months. I hesitate on this decision since it means that the window cannot be opened to the mountain air which is in the 60s at night. I know, since I live just down the road and do not use forced air myself. I will replace it with the screen in the fall. Very glad you enjoyed. Anne

It was clean but that's about the only nice thing

  • 1 of 5

There are many problems with this property. The first thing is there is only one window air conditioner in the living room. It was hot during our stay and the bedroom was ungodly hot. Yes, in the mountains, nights cool down but now until early morning hours. In the meantime, you sweat to death. The air conditioner in the living room does not freeze you out as the owner has stated in other reviews. The plumbing is also a problem. By the time you've finished a shower the bathtub is nearly one fourth full and it drains very slowly. If you take a shower and then use the toilet, the toilet nearly runs over. The screened in porch was filthy, spider webs all over it, and just not inviting. I would not recommend renting this place.

Owner's Response: Not sure why you would wait several months after your stay to submit a review, but it does not ring true with what numerous others have said and is NOT current. Septic issue has been fixed and there is no issue with slow draining water, at all now. NO guest since I have been renting the cabin for over 5 years has given us a 1 star rating. Most people find it most pleasant relaxing. Yes, it is a 1940s cabin and there is not central air, but no one before you has seen a problem with 60s at night, even in mid summer. The window AC unit is there if there is need for more. Very sorry you were disappointed and do not understand why you took so long to tell me. Not sure of the purpose of this review ... seems like sour grapes attitude that is not consistent with the lovely reviews from most guests. Anne
