About Jerry Gundersen

We are a writer and an apparel designer, we are parents to kids and dogs, and we love to share our beautiful spot on the planet. We like hiking, biking, boating, picking mushrooms and blackberries, cooking, reading and good conversation.

Jerry Gundersen purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Jerry Gundersen chose Puget Sound North

Our beach is perfectly situated with a view of Puget Sound, Blake Island and the one and only Mount Rainier. It's a quiet place for reading, writing and dreaming, and a fun place for active sports, too.

What makes this cottage unique

Spectacular scenery, wonderful walks, nearby shopping, eating and entertainment, including a historic movie theater from 1936. If you would like to arrive by boat, we can tie you up to our mooring buoy in front of the house. Pleasant Beach Village offers free live music on Summer Tuesdays featuring local artists.

A hidden gem on the Sound

  • 5 of 5

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Point White Guest House. The personal touches and the at home feeling is exactly what we were looking for. If you want to enjoy the Seattle/sound area but not be right in the hustle and bustle of it all, this is the place. Jerry is a native to the area so he is extremely informed of the "to do's" and can direct you to exactly what you are looking for. Susan's sweet touches all around the home are well thought out. The professionally landscaped path with delicious strawberries, mint, and lavender lead you to your own private beach, which is almost a stones throw from the house. One of our favorite moments was the stillness of the Sound while on the beach and enjoying the Ferry Boats go by. This truly defines a Home Away From Home.

On a side note, be sure to pick-up a book and read it. They are another little treasure from Susan. And if you have a youngster looking for a unique vest for all their adventures, Jerry has the perfect "take home" souvenir that your children will love! J-stitch.com

Thank you, Jerry & Susan! We hope to visit again!

Another perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to the Point White Guest House! The property is beautiful, the guest house is very comfortable with lots of amenities and special touches. The guest house is nestled in a quiet gorgeous garden just a short stroll down the path to the beach. We enjoyed beach bonfires, watching ferries against the backdrop of Mt. Rainer, and took many short walks to adorable town of Pleasant Beach. Point White is a great location, just a short drive to great parks, dining, attractions, and events. I highly recommend this property! The owners are accommodating and lovely hosts and the property is one of the best on the island! We will be back again!

Cool little retreat type guest house in cool location

  • 5 of 5

Point White Guest House is an architecturally unusual, functional place for up to 6 people. Since four of the sleeping spaces are built in bunks and are separated from the main living space which also has the queen bed by only a sliding divider, it is really not appropriate for two families or more than 2 adults - but for a single couple plus kids it's fine. Since the kitchen is small, with no stove or dishwasher (just a hot plate, microwave, toaster oven/coffee maker, small fridge and barbecue), and the table only seats 4, you probably don't want to be doing your big meals here. There's also a washer/drier and a TV with Amazon Prime, Netflix and some DVDs (but no cable). While you can't see the water from the house, there is a wonderful gravel beach and sitting area/fire pit with amazing views of Mt. Rainier and the Bremerton Ferry about 100 feet down a little winding path. You will be sharing the beach area with the friendly owners but they gave us plenty of privacy. There are paddle boards and kayaks for use here too. It's about a 15 minute walk along the beach to the second town on the island - Lynnwood - which, while compact, is more upscale than Winslow and has everything you need: several good restaurants, coffee shop, bakery, a little shopping and even a one screen theater. If you don't need to be in the middle of the "hubbub" that is Winslow, and are looking for an interesting, casual place to stay, this is ideal.

Great Family Stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely property for my kids' spring break and my only regret is not being able to stay longer! The hosts were very accommodating - great communication before and during our stay - and the property had everything we could possibly need (and then some). Everything felt customized and unique, right down to the heated floors - they were heated, right!? A short, charming trail leads you right to the waters edge where my kids spent hours combing the beach looking for clams, sand dollars, shells, you name it. Thank you to the hosts for an amazing stay. We hope to return before long. :)

Owner's Response: We loved having this delightful family. They were lovely to host, and we really good sports about the blustery spring weather. Glad the heated floors made everything cozy!

A Magical Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Special touches await you, at The Point White Guest house from the moment you enter with fresh cut flowers, a welcome basket and personalized touches throughout, even for our dog. The house is situated close to the beach and a convenient walk to town with sandpipers, seagulls, views of Mt Rainier and the ferry guiding your way. A tranquil and mesmerizing retreat. Highly recommended.
