Beautiful Home. Love the Wood. No Corners were Cut! The kitchen was beautiful and very functional.

Jim was excellent at communicating. We were welcomed with fresh farm eggs, bacon, biscuits, and juice. We happened to be there when the tail end of Hurricane Irma hit. With power outages all around, the generator kicked in and we were good. The big back yard was wonderful for our two Golden Retrievers to run and play. Private setting was great. The bed was very comfortable. Satellite TV, Netflix, Wifi were terrific.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week. The home is well appointed and the yard was perfect for our family gathering. The backyard fires were special meetings. Our dogs enjoyed romping while we chatted. Coffee in the AM on the back porch is a great place to start a day.

We arrived late after dealing with ATL traffic to find fresh provisions stocked; awesome. We were anticipating a nice place to gather but this retreat got the 'wow, this is really great' many times. BTW Jim, the hike you suggested on FS 4545 'up the hill' was perfect. It was a short walk to a clearing and the eclipse was spectacular. We had a few other nice hikes to area waterfalls and enjoyed pontoon boating on Lake Glenville. Thanks for sharing.

Great stay on Flat Mountain

  • 5 of 5

Amazing yard! Great fire pit in the back and plenty of wood. If you have children bring a kick ball or whiffle ball. Plenty of room for all kinds of games. The home is amazing as well. The pictures represent the property very well but expect the real thing to be even better. The owners are very pleasant and welcoming. No complaints. A note for some...You do have to take your own trash to the town recycling center which is very close by and the drive is quite nice. I have not seen other rentals in the area do this but it was not a real problem for us.

Highly recommend.

The house and property was beautiful and peaceful, the only bummer was the garbage, but over all I would go back for sure.

Great getaway in a wonderful town

  • 5 of 5

Highlands is a wonderful place to spend some time in the summer. Scenery, restaurants, shops. Highlands has it all. The house is set in a peaceful area just outside of town and is very well equipped. Would recommend for couples, families or groups. A great place!

Great "base of operations" for Highlands

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. It's a nice house, only a few miles away from downtown Highlands, so it's a great "base of operations". The owners had left some breakfast food in the fridge (eggs, bacon, biscuits, oj), which we really appreciated. Jim was very helpful with directions, and with a suggestion on where to get groceries. The jacuzzi tub in the master bath was great. I was impressed that all of the jets worked! That seems to be a rare find these days. And there were tons of towels. The house has a great screened-in porch, with a nice table and chairs. There were a few minor drawbacks: there were no facial tissues, the neighbors’ dog barked a little (we only heard it a couple of times when we were outside; we couldn't hear it inside), and the power went out a few times (twice on a rainy day, twice on a sunny day). We also had to take our trash to a recycling center. However, the positive factors outweighed those. The house is mostly surrounded by woods; you can barely see the other houses (there is also a new one getting built up the hill from this one). The price of the house was great, and it looks like the owners even roll the cleaning fee into the daily rate. You'll need to be patient when waiting for the access code to the house. The owners have had people arrive really early (possibly day(s) early) without permission, which has forced them (understandably) to wait to provide the access code until closer to a rental period. We got ours the night before we were due to arrive. Overall, this house was a good rental.
