About Jacqui Smail

Jacqui was born and raised in East Lothian Scotland. She had a very successful career in the travel and tourism industry in Edinburgh for twenty five years! In 2009, Jacqui, her husband Andrew and their two sons were given the opportunity to move to Sonoma County and the rest was history!

The whole family fell in love with this stunningly beautiful part of California and wanted to share it's beauty with their nearest and dearest. When choosing their new home, they decided to buy a property that would allow for just that. Nestled in the beautiful Skyhawk area is their home with Wine Country Retreat, right on the property.

Jacqui Smail purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Jacqui Smail chose Skyhawk Commmunity

The moment I saw this property, I knew it was the one for us. It was love at first sight. I never tire of the location, the mountain views, or the bright airy feel. The choice of food and wine options are endless. We love how close it is to Annadel Park and Spring Lake where we enjoy walking.

What makes this cottage unique

The location of Wine Country Retreat is superb. The open views are quite stunning and the host is so friendly and welcoming. The property is spotlessly clean and bright. Our linens are of superior quality and the space is bright, comfortable, clean and private.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wine Country Retreat has only been open since May 2014 and already I have stayed twice! I have family in this area and come to visit often, but like my own space and what an adorable space this is. If you are looking for a charming little guest house, that is very clean, in a great location and with a delightful host. Then this is the one for you.

Charming and cozy

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The guest house was so clean, it had everything you could possibly need and the bed was so comfortable! Jacqui thought of everything- even putting milk in the fridge for me for my morning coffee. I hope to come back soon!

A Retreat Indeed--A True Haven

  • 5 of 5

Perfect in many ways. Personal Touches. Peaceful Privacy. Central Location. Relaxing Comfort. As prospective residents of Santa Rosa, we needed a "home base" for our journeys around Sonoma County. This haven was the perfect place to begin each day. Your hospitality set the tone for a very positive experience. Relaxing in this apartment after busy days, we stored up happy memories. Amazing vacation...

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time in California, and the Wine Country Retreat was the cherry on top. It was such a pleasure to walk in and be greeted by such a lovely, clean space. Complete with welcome gift from Jacqui, who was super friendly and hospitable. Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine in the evenings was the perfect way to end our adventures. I wish I could have stayed longer, and hope to return soon.
