About Mike & Laura (Owners)
Owners and operators Mike & Laura, married for 33 years and semi retired love to travel to the Big Island. Its our favorite island of all the islands because of its laid back feel and the friendliness of the local people. Mike grew up in New Mexico and Laura in Southern California. We currently live in Southern California and look to be living in Kona in the future.
Mike & Laura (Owners) purchased this House in 2014
Why Mike & Laura (Owners) chose Kahaluu Bay
We love this property because of its location, close to the beach, close to snorkeling and surfing and it's quiet location. The home also fits our family well when we come out to stay. We especially love waking up in the mornings to the sounds of birds and the ocean. Our favorite thing to do is to walk down and watch the sunset every evening and come back and BBQ and sit around, eat and talk story on the upstairs lanai.
What makes this House unique
The feel of the home is Hawaiian in and out. Our daily routine is, early morning run or walk on Al'i Dr. Walk to either Magic Sands Beach Park or Kahalu'u Beach Park to snorkel. Come home wash of the sand at the outside shower and jump into the pool, then BBQ on the Lanai and watch sunset. Get an occasional golf game in or just simply just sit and relax.

Great family vacation spot
A wonderful location to host our extended family for our parents 40th wedding anniversary. A quick walk to the beach and the house had all we needed. Owners and property manager were extremely quick on communication and made sure we had everything possible.
Comprehensive. Tropical. Central.
Stayed at the Blue Lagoon house for a week with friends and family and only wished we had more time to enjoy the space (versus gallivanting all over the Big Island). Every thing one could possibly need is available in the house, from food to supplies to grills and pool. The open-air feel of the house provides a treehouse-like atmosphere unlike anything I have stayed in before. The pool provides well-needed respite from the Hawaiian sun. While the house's proximity to to Magic Sands Beach and the Kona boardwalk ensure easy access to all the touristy stops, which may not even be as enjoyable as staying home in this little slice of paradise itself! Lastly, property managers were wonderful help in working through the dozens of options for local adventures and expeditions.
Overall, amazing space for any large group looking to be in the heart of the Big Island's most populated area, with easy access to the best the island has to offer.
House was all we expected it to be. Kitchen was well equipped.
Property was located close to most things we were interested in.
Beds were all comfortable. House was not air conditioned but it is our understanding that most are not due to expense. The 9pm quite hour seemed a little early but we adapted (county ordinance). We had 13 in our group and I highly recommend this house.
Our stay was the best. We had our family with us to celebrate our 50th Wedding anniversary. Our group of 11 ranging from ages 69 to 15 loved the place. The house is well equipped from hair dryers, sun screen, beach towels, beach toys, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and coolers were all appreciated. The kitchen is great; our family used the lanai off the dining room for our additional dining area. Bedrooms and baths are great. We did use the fans since it is not air conditioned and the fans provided some good airflow. The recommendation to stop at Costco was good advise for beverages and food was cheaper. We ate our breakfast and lunch in. Cassie was the best hostess by providing advise on local golf to our excursion trips. The beaches were good and the house pool was a great RELAX stop. The boogie boards, snorkel gear and bikes were a bonus. The home instructions book is handy and gave us lots of information on the home and local area. Our views cannot be beat. The advise on packing was spot on - don't over pack. The evening recommendations for dining were great. Walking to the beach is not a problem since there are crosswalks and walking lanes. Don't miss the Dole Whips. Thank you for the great stay and making another memory for our family.. and we will be back..
We love the place!!
This was our 3rd visit and everytime we come back we fall more in love with the home. It has everything we want for a Hawaiian vacation. A roomy home with a bathroom in every bedroom, a pool that's perfect for the hot days, BBQ's both on the upstairs lanai next to the kitchen and on the pool patio. But what's really nice is the short walk you can take to La'aloa beach park (Magic Sands) for boogie boarding and sunsets. By the way mahalo for providing bikes, boogie boards, beach equipment and snorkel gear for us to use. The home is also perfectly located close to town and makes for a good spot to satellite out of for island adventures. We appreciate the that you allow for our ohana to stay in your beautiful hale and we will be back! Mahalo!
Extraordinary, Relaxing and Tranquil Place Ever!!!
This house is amazing! Laura and Mike have created a little piece of heaven here. Everything you could possibly need they have at the house and then some! As soon as you walk in this home, you feel at peace. I truly cannot wait to come back and stay at their house again. I would recommend everyone to stay here when going to Hawaii. It is an experience that you will never forget!
Shielded from winds by Maunaloa, south Kona’s calm and clear waters are perfect for snorkeling, diving and spotting dolphins and honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles). One of Kona’s most memorable experiences is going on a manta ray boat tour to scuba or snorkel with these gentle, graceful sea creatures. Kona is also famous for its deep-sea fishing, hosting the International Billfish Tournament (August) every year. And on land, don’t forget to travel to the cooler upland slopes of towns like Holualoa, where you can sample the distinctive flavors of 100% Kona coffee. On the versatile Kona coast, you’ll find the adventures are as big as the island itself.
