I think we're typical owners - we love skiing in the winter, hiking and biking in the summer and just taking it easy on the back deck or down by Donner Lake.
Scott purchased this House in 2013
Why Scott chose Truckee
We loved the views into the woods behind the house and the general peace and quiet.

Beautiful location and clean accommodations
We had a great experience with this rental and the owner Scott. There were issues with the original rental and we couldn’t stay there. At 10:30pm, he responded immediately to our request and saved our family from not having a place to stay. The house has plenty of space and is very clean. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and close access to Squaw Valley, NorthStar and Donner ski resorts. I would book this place again and highly recommend it to friends and family.
Wonderful location, but missing the comforts of home.
We rented this property for a month. The location of this house is wonderful, but we found it missing the comforts of home. We did address this with the homeowner who was willing to work with us, and credited us for many of the purchases we made to bring the home into a more useable state (think blow dryers, corkscrew, wineglasses, etc.) HE was great to work with!
I would rent again, if he can find a way to ensure that the house remains well stocked with the necessities anyone would need.
Thank you for staying with us and your feedback. Based on your feedback, we have decided to contract with a service company to help keep inventory and ensure that the house is fully stocked even during the busy summer months. We enjoyed having you as guests and look forward to having you stay with us in the future.
Perfect Tahoe Donner Family & Pet Friendly Cabin!
We spent a month this summer at the TD cabin and had the best time. This house is perfectly situated with all that you need to enjoy your stay. Just bring your bags and you will be ready to vacation! The quiet setting with the greenbelt along the back of the house made for great evenings sitting on the back deck for family dinners and also great areas for the kids to explore. The house is very spacious with plenty of room for a large family. The bonus room downstairs was great for my wife to do her morning workouts without disrupting the house. We looked at many places before selecting this house, and when we plan to go back again, I will certainly rebook this location. The owner Scott was awesome and easy to work with, plus he even checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. If you're looking for a nice family home that accommodates dogs, this is a great selection. Thanks again for such a memorable summer trip.
My family of 2 adults and 2 children stayed here for a month this summer and had a fabulous time - this was an easy home to relax in! The Tahoe Donner location was perfect - We explored the nearby TD trails and the Northwoods playground, pool and clubhouse are a 3-minute drive and then we were only about 7 minutes from some of the Truckee things we needed to get to. Even with that convenience, the neighborhood is quiet; leading to daily walks, hikes and jogs and deer sightings as they regularly meandered through the yard. The living room has comfortable furniture and connects to the kitchen making a big L shape and this made hanging out and playing after a day of outdoor activities really enjoyable and easy. Our kids also adored playing in the basement, loved this giant bean-bag and took advantage of an assortment of games in the cabinet. The owner, Scott, answered any question we had with minutes or an hour or two of e-mailing and was organized and efficient with all our transactions and the property felt very accurately portrayed from the VRBO site. We had an awesome summer in this house!
Excellent house in Truckee
I stayed at this house during summer 2016. Location is excellent, and house has plenty of space, even for big families or groups. It is clean and well organized. Perfect wifi and network etc. Overall A+ for sure.
A great place for a summer retreat. The workspace and wifi connection are excellent, so you can still be connected if you so choose. It's very quiet, has lots of room, and is clean, well-stocked, and well-maintained. Lots of things to do in the area. The owner is friendly and responsive. Pet friendly.
Tahoe Donner has extensive hiking trails around the perimeter (walking distance from the house), up to Donner Ridge (from Glacier Way parking lot), down into the Euer Valley (from the end of Alder Creek Rd), and a very nice loop along Trout Creek that starts across the street from the Northwoods Rec Center.
Commemorative Emigrant Trail runs along Alder Creek (accessed from Schussing Way and Alder Creek Road, just north of Tahoe Donner). Cross Alder Creek Road and follow the trail toward the Donner Picnic Area and Prosser Reservoir east of Hwy 89. Part way along, turn left and go up some banked S-turns built for mountain biking for nice views to the NE.“Dog Beach” is on Donner Lake, accessed through Donner Memorial State Park, next to the Tahoe Donner Beach Marina (tho no dogs are allowed in the marina), on Donner Pass Road.A biking trail along the Truckee River is found from the very end of East River Street (cross the pedestrian bridge) or from the Truckee Regional Park on Brockway (at the E end of town, turn right on Bridge Street, cross the river where it becomes Brockway, and the park is on the left.) Work your way down to the lowest elevation parking lot, where a paved trail begins toward the east, the Legacy Bike Trail.
From the Legacy Trail, shortly after a pedestrian bridge back to town, watch for a foot-path down to the river on your left. This path parallels the river for several miles, and is a safe trail for dogs, far from bikes and cars, and the river moves relatively gently (in the late summer at least).
A large tract around Martis Creek is great for dogs, hiking, and biking. From Downtown: I-80 east past downtown Truckee, take the exit for SR 267, turn right, S, toward Northstar. After the airport, watch for “Wildlife viewing area” sign and turn right into the parking area.
A wonderful dog-friendly trail goes from the Alpine Meadows Road up to the Pacific Crest Trail and several small lakes, between Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley ski areas.
