Overall we had a great time! Jack did a great job with accommodation.

  • 4 of 5

This property was great! We enjoyed our stay. Jack was so so amazing to work with, he helped to make our stay welcoming and nice. My only feedback would be to provide a cleaning team to wash the towels in the unit for people that stay for an extended period of time. Luckily we had friends staying in a unit that had a washer and dryer so we were able to do our laundry. But this would not stop us from staying in the unit again. THANKS JACK!!

Comfortable, affordable vacation stay option

  • 4 of 5

About us: Local couple from Oahu on a weekend trip to Kauai for relaxation and also, as it turned out, to get engaged! :)

Rental Unit: The 1 Bdrm is nice and comfortable. In a very convenient location for North Shore activities. The location is relatively quiet. Mixed vacation rentals with local residents. The unit was clean and aside from the screen door needing adjustment and chair leg falling off, everything was well kept. Bed was comfortable too. Multiple fans to keep you cooled down on hot summer nights. For the 2 of us it was enough space to relax. There is a pool but due to our short stay (2 nights) we didn't get a chance to enjoy. Looks good though.

Rental process: Slight missed communications with Jack due to him traveling at the time meant we waited a short time outside of property before we could get in. There's a nice shaded grassy spot where we waited so it was pleasant. Note that the check in time may be 4pm instead of 3pm as it was listed on VRBO. Other than that, the process for renting the unit was easy, pain free.

Conclusion: If you're looking for a 1 bdrm for a short stay (holoholo) or a base to come back to after exploring during the day while on vacation you're not likely to find a better price than this one. It's kept clean and is very convenient to Hanalei, the Princeville resorts as well as the northern start of the Na Pali coast. I do recommend exploring some of the beautiful beaches close by.

Loved our stay at Jack's studio

  • 5 of 5

Jack's studio was at the perfect location! We had no idea which part of Kauai was best, and it turned out to be the North Shore for us - lush, green, and upscale, with great beaches! Princeville was wonderful and had beautiful sunsets at the harbour, paired with green mountains - all on the same photo! (Highly recommend nearby Hanalei Beach Park for 'photogenic' sunsets.)

The studio had everything we needed: a comfy bed, wifi, a fridge, a coffee maker, a microwave oven. Free reserved parking outside. The lanai (balcony) was pleasant, and the beach chairs and boogie board were a nice touch that we didn't have to rent.

Jack, though he was not around at the time, was very communicative. Everything went smooth, without any problem. Thank you.

Saved some $$

  • 4 of 5

The room suited our needs and we didn't spend much time in it. Bed was comfortable. Didn't hear any neighbors. Things that could have been improved - larger or more fans as the cross flow of breeze wasn't much and the room stayed pretty hot. Having paper towels in the room would have been a nice bonus rather than us buying our own and taking them with us. Also an added bonus, but not expected, would have been a second set of beach towels since we hit the beach so often the towels provided never dried. It was not be to have beach towels at all though. The porch was nice and cool. THe screen door to the porch is duct taped up and has holes in it, which allowed a few crawling bugs in. Hopefully a new door is in the future. Overall it worked and we got what we payed for.

Owner's Response: I bought a new screen door and put it up. (I'm buying a new one every 6 months because metal tract has a 1/2 inch defect😕). I bought 2 new fans and put one up so far (wall mount more difficult to assemble so new one not up yet. So 3 fans now. Walmart has big floor fan for $18 if anyone wants more (I will pay you back). There are suppose to be paper towels. Sorry, not sure went wrong there. I will start putting extra beach towels in closet. Mahalo for your Kokua, Jack.😀
