This cottage is set in a 12-acre valley at 2100 feet above sea level, with 2-acres of open magical park-like surroundings. Fronting on the Little Tennessee River. The charming cottage has two bedrooms and two bathrooms with comfortable beds for four people. The sun-room can also be used as a separate bedroom. The cottage is fully furnished, has a new HD TV with satellite connection with DVD and has lovely landscaping with tall trees all around. It also boasts two outdoor entertainment areas - one screened and one open with a roof above. The location is quite rural, but easily accessible to a major highway. About 12 miles from Franklin, NC and 3 miles from the Georgia border and shopping center.. The closest airport would be Asheville, North Carolina, about an hour's drive. We welcome pets.

What makes this Cottage unique
The Cottage is one-of-a-kind, with fabulous landscaping and unusual mature plants all around that showcase it in every season. The rooms are dressed to look Victorian, which is most conducive to the style of the building itself. In addition, there appears to be an angelic presence palpable on the land here.

This is a beautiful property. Every bit as beautiful as the pictures! Very secluded and private,
We really enjoyed our stay! We enjoyed the tranquility and privacy, while still being close (10-20 minutes) of shopping, great restaurants, and things to do. Perfect location! We spent time in Franklin, Highlands, Dillard, and Clayton. The home and beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch every morning. The kitchen was pretty well stocked as I did a lot of cooking. My only disappointment was that I did not have any cell phone signal (T mobile) but my mother had Verizon service. And while the listing stated there was internet, I could not find any WiFi. So for the few days after my mother left, we had no way for communication. However, I did enjoy having my teenage son’s undivided attention! We could drive up onto the main highway and get cell service. With all of that being said I would still give it 5 stars and stay there again!
Very nice perfect cottage in the mountains
We would go back again.
Beautiful cottage in the woods
We absolutely loved our stay at Ruth and Ron's cottage. We stayed here for New Years weekend and it was everything we were looking for. Quiet, secluded, peaceful. Waterfall hikes within driving distance. The house has so much space - the pictures do not do it justice. We were surprised by how big all the rooms were when we arrived. Everything was clean, the master bed was SO comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped, everything operational. Enough beds and space to easily accommodate 5 people. The cottage has its own little covered parking garage just for you. It felt like we were staying in a 'home' not just a rental property. To clarify what another reviewer said - Ruth and Ron live next door, but you cannot see their house from this cottage, you actually can't see any other houses. They were not an overbearing presence AT ALL. We never even met them or saw them, but they always responded quickly when we contacted them, and made sure we knew they were there if we needed anything. We will most definitely be back!
A heavenly spot!
Private, peaceful, lush, beautiful! My husband, mother and I stayed here for five nights (fleeing Florida during Hurricane Irma) and it was an absolutely perfect retreat. It became an actual vacation! If you love nature and picturesque settings, this is ideal! Home is very cozy with plenty of space, and the patios are a great feature. Well-equipped, spacious kitchen. Two small commercial districts - one ten miles north and one ten miles south. Ron and Ruth were very kind, welcoming, and understanding of our situation. Highly recommend.
Our experience was not what we expected.
We were disappointed to say the least. The owners were very present at all times watching us. They even came to the door and requested more money immediately because my brother had stayed two nights with us. We had told VRBO that information. Then they accused us of having 2 children which never happened. The house was not that clean and very dark. You couldn't sit in the living room without turning on lights. We couldn't or chose not to sit on either of the screened in porches because the furniture was not clean. Food was left in the refrigerator from previous renters, we assumed. There is no internet unless you choose to use your phone. The owners also told us to watch our water consumption since it hadn't rained very much. So in all, we were accused of lying and having unexpected guests. It seems that the owners, who live right next to this property, watch the renters like a hawk. That made us very uncomfortable. We left the home cleaner than we found it. And upon checking our figures with those given by VRBO, we over paid by $123. VRBO asked us to contact the owners, which we have done, but that's when more accusations were made . So we will not rent from them again.
This couple had never used VRBO before therefore they did not know what to expect and they didn't realize it wasn't OK to bring in 2 or 3 extra guests without telling us in advance.
Our home is about 300 yards from the rental cottage and our private driveway runs beside the Cottage.
Our policy is to allow our guests to have privacy.
Its unfortunate that their stay was not more pleasant for both parties.
Home was a home away from home tucked into the lovely NC mountains.
