Space 600 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, Studio + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

This quiet and secluded sun-filled cabin, the former home of German actor Klaus Kinski, is set at the end of a dirt road high on a ridgetop between the San Geronimo Valley and Nicasio. Nestled in a grove of towering redwood and Douglas fir trees, bordering Samuel P. Taylor State Park, and a half-mile from the closest house, it offers breathtaking views of Mount Tamalpais and San Geronimo Ridge to the south and Bolinas Ridge to the west. The cabin boasts a wood stove set in a large stone fireplace for relaxing evenings and romance. A queen bed is at the top of a spiral staircase in a loft overlooking the living area. Hiking and mountain biking trails leave right from the front door. Its location between Central Marin and the Point Reyes National Seashore makes it easy to take advantage of all that Marin County has to offer while affording guests unparalleled privacy.

There is a long, bumpy dirt road to the cabin that currently requires 4WD or AWD.

Magical and enchanting

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I had a grand time at the cabin. It felt like we were in a treehouse with the magnificent view from all the windows. The kitchen had all the necessary equipment I needed to make quite a few meals. The filtered water was a nice addition, albeit, we brought our own water. All the firewood made for a warm weekend.

The trails near the cabin were great as well. The trail to the left at the trailhead was quite a workout...not for the faint of heart. The trail to the right was leisurely.

Although, we just live 30 miles from this cabin, it felt like we were a world away. 4WD is a must. My sedan would not have made it. We will definitely try to come back. Cheers!

Great Get Away

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a place to have an adventure with my son before he left for college. This cabin in the woods was just the place. I loved the architecture

and all the wood. It has an amazing view off the deck and a lovely fireplace. We were able to bring our dog and walk the rim trail for miles. We were pretty close to Point Reyes so went to the beach and on a hike the other day.

We spent the evenings cooking dinner and talking and reading by the fireplace. Very cozy, friendly and beautiful.

Secluded, quiet, cozy, and well-furnished cabin in the redwoods

  • 5 of 5

I spent a wonderful weekend by myself at this beautiful cabin in Marin County. It was the perfect combination of beautiful natural location (on the top of a mountain in the redwoods), and well-furnished kitchen and comfortable quarters. I was able to hike ten miles up and down the fire-roads and trails just by walking out the door, and return to the cabin to enjoy a drink on the deck at sunset, followed by a cozy fire in the wood stove. The fog in the trees at dawn was amazing too! Overall a great place, and I look forward to a return visit. It definitely requires a 4-wheel drive for access, and since the drive up is fairly involved, plan and buy your groceries all at once so you don't have to come and go a lot. In any case, once you're there, you won't want to leave!
