This quiet and secluded sun-filled cabin, the former home of German actor Klaus Kinski, is set at the end of a dirt road high on a ridgetop between the San Geronimo Valley and Nicasio. Nestled in a grove of towering redwood and Douglas fir trees, bordering Samuel P. Taylor State Park, and a half-mile from the closest house, it offers breathtaking views of Mount Tamalpais and San Geronimo Ridge to the south and Bolinas Ridge to the west. The cabin boasts a wood stove set in a large stone fireplace for relaxing evenings and romance. A queen bed is at the top of a spiral staircase in a loft overlooking the living area. Hiking and mountain biking trails leave right from the front door. Its location between Central Marin and the Point Reyes National Seashore makes it easy to take advantage of all that Marin County has to offer while affording guests unparalleled privacy.
There is a long, bumpy dirt road to the cabin that currently requires 4WD or AWD.
This property is heaven on earth, quiet and peaceful.
Wow what can I say, my girlfriend and I spent a rainy week-end there. We had a fire going, great food and wine and our 2 dogs. Its an amazing place, feels like your the only 2 people in the world! Also did some great walks in the rain.... Thank you Liz.................. We will do it again! Sincerely Jim & Rachel PS Great book collection!
This is a wonderful retreat from which to recharge and regroup from the pressures of everyday living. The drive over from SF is lovely but surprisingly quick. You have the experience of feeling worlds away while " tucked up there" in this jewel of a place. We will most certainly return. Thank you Liz and Chuck for opening this special place to us. (and special thanks to Chuck for the ride back down the hill!)
only a little over an hour drive from San Francisco but it feels a world away. Such a beautiful property, romantic cabin, on acres of land. Hikes start on the property. We will definitely be back!
Hands down the best place we have rented since we moved to the west coast four years ago. Cabin is really nice built and situated on a ridge to take advantage of views and sun throughout the day. The wood burning stove is great for the cooler nights and the sleeping loft is very comfortable. Surrounded by it's own large amount of land our two dogs thought they were in heaven as they ran around through the trees and bushes. When we wanted to go further hiking trails lead off right from the property line.
Our only complaint was having to leave!
My husband and I found this romantic cabin for a quick honeymoon back in 2013! We had a quiet and relaxing time here secluded in nature. The cabin provided a nice get away after we were married and break from our crazy busy few months preparing to move, finishing a Ph.D., etc....... We now live in the mid-west and talk of coming back to stay in the future!!! Thank you for making such a magical place available to add to our memories..... Next time hopefully we can bring our pup!!!
My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway -and by getaway I mean get away from the hustle & bustle of life. This cabin worked wonderfully for that. It was perfect for sitting back on the lovely deck, listening to music and nature and enjoying the incredible views.
The cabin is clean, comfy and well appointed with all that you need. From wood for the fireplace, amenities for the grill, coffeemaker, stove and kitchen essentials to comfortable chairs on the deck and blankets to snuggle in on the cool evenings. Additionally, there's a lovely table on the deck where we enjoyed several meals. Like others, we brought our food in and parked the car and didn't start it again until we left. We went hiking out the door and relaxed when we returned.
Liz was helpful and provides spot on directions to the property, with plenty of warning about the rough road to get there. The road wasn't too bad if you're used to country roads. A four wheel drive is not necessary but ground clearance of a small suv was nice to have due to the bumps.
We would definitely recommend this place to friends and will consider ourselves lucky if we have the opportunity to stay here again.
Liz, thanks for sharing this beautiful retreat.
