Ocean front- Maui Sands is Ocean Front property, with a spectacular view of the islands of Molokai and Lanai. The seawall and the observation deck perched above it are literally 30 steps from your front door! You will enjoy the fresh clean air and stunning views while listening to the constant crash of the waves against the seawall.

Ocean View- There is both a garden and partial ocean view from the condo, framed by swaying palms and fragrant plumeria trees.

Additional Location Information- Honokawai is located on the Northwest shore of Maui, with views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai across the channel. Maui Sands epitomizes old school Hawaii ambiance. This is a low density property, with beautiful grounds, including mango and banana trees.

We are a very easy short walk from some lovely beaches and Honokawai park. There are many good local restaurants, a large grocery store, two farmers markets, a health food store, a coffee shop and some great spa facilities, all within a 3-5 minute walk. One of the favorite things about this location is the Farmers Market that is a short walk away across from the Honokawai Beach Park. They hold a special outdoor produce market with free samples on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, but they offer fresh organic produce and a deli from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week.

A short drive south to Whalers Village, and further on to Lahaina brings you to great Front Street shopping and historic sights. The Historic town of Lahaina (once the capital of Hawaii) has something for everyone, from Warren and Annabelles Magic Show (some of the best close hand magic we've ever seen) to shopping and the Award Winning Ulalena show at the Maui Myth and Magic Theater. You will have no problem finding great entertainment.

The Wharf in Lahaina has it's share of wonderful excursions to choose from as well. We particularly like Trilogy for a day trip to the Island of Lanai. There are many sunset cruises to choose from along with snorkeling, fishing, sailing, and whale watching trips to fit most budgets.

North towards Kapalua there are 3 more championship golf courses, as well as fabulous beach walks and mountainside hiking! Nothing like a sunset view from the side of a volcano!

We are within minutes of some terrific restaurants and a short drive from many many more. Ocean gear such as fishing equipment, snorkel gear, and kayaks can be rented within walking distance. There is a bicycle and scooter rental across the street.

Some of our favorite Island Highlights would be: traveling the Road to Hana, with waterfalls and sight-seeing around every bend: sunrise or sunset viewing from the top of our volcano, Haleakala; picnicking at historic I'ao Valley, with a short walk up to I'ao Needle and back by way of the I'ao Stream Trail, and many more!

Description- This newly renovated, end unit condo, on the 2nd floor, pleases and relaxes in every way. Using classic sailing vessels as inspiration, the owner renovated with custom crafted teak and beveled glass. Art work in the unit reflects old Hawaiiana style. The kitchen provides everything needed to prepare a gourmet meal for friends and family.

This end unit provides an extra window for maximizing the benefits of the cool ocean trade winds.

With extra living space on the large lanai, you can enjoy delicious meals or a superb Maui evening. We have a wonderful garden view, surprisingly private with a peekabo view of the ocean.

A low density property, Maui Sands glows with the ambiance and charm of Old Hawaii. We have 72 units in seven traditional 2-story buildings on four park-like acres. We are in the heart of Honokawai, close to delicious take-in and dine-out restaurants, as well as shopping, grocery stores, and the award-winning Farmer's Market.


Bedroom Details- Garden view picture window, with a new super comfortable queen size bed! There is a television and a Blue-Ray/DVD player with Netflix also.

Bathroom Details- Separate vanity area for privacy. Well lit, This bathroom boasts custom teak and tile. Roomy step-in shower!

Kitchen- Beautifully appointed with upgraded stainless steel appliances and solid teak cabinets, fronted with beveled glass. Features a large island for preparation and dining.

Parking- This unit comes with one free off-street parking space.

Living Area- Large, beautifully-appointed, comfortable living area with ample seating and a queen sleeper sofa/chaise for additional guests. A large 48" TV with Netflix on it is also here.

Communal Pool- Large, newly renovated sparkling pool!

Has cabana and BBQ with ample seating for a poolside picnic!

Deck/Patio- The property has a very large observation deck over the sea wall with gorgeous views of Lanai and Molokai. We love watching the whales from here during the season!

Lawn/Garden- Maui Sands has some of the best and most mature gardens in the area!

Additional Info- Maui boasts a whale season from the latter part of November to mid April every year when the whales return to breed and give birth.

This unit is perfect to snorkel, paddle board and kayak right off the shoreline! The property resides within the Kahekili Marine Reserve which is one of 3 conservation zones on the island of Maui.

There are three volcanic reefs that run parallel to the shoreline. During low tide, the inner area, between the seawall and the first reef is perfectly protected for keiki to play in the water and build sand castles. Between the first and second reef, the water is between 7' and 4' deep, perfect for swimming with the turtles and enjoying a morning swim. Outside the second reef, and inside the third, is a wonderful labyrinth of lava nooks and crannies that provide great snorkeling!

Maui is a magical place at all times of year!

A perfect stay! Extremely well equipped!

My wife and I booked this condo for a 3.5wk stay in January. Communications with Amy (owner) and the manager (Heather) was extremely easy throughout the entire process of booking and arriving to the unit. Amy and Heather were both very responsive with email as well as phone contact anytime we needed them.

The photos of the property on Homeaway really are 100% accurate. There were no unpleasant surprises! The unit was clean and tidy on the inside. We loved the wood flooring as well as the teak cabinets and kitchen island. Same teak cabinetry is in the bathroom and bedroom. The woodwork gave an overall very comfortable, rich feel to the unit.

The kitchen was extremely well equipped. We ate all of our meals in and appreciated the convenience. You can find everything from a rice cooker to a blender to a cake mixer, just to illustrate some of the conveniences offered...

The bedroom was comfortable and never too hot. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was all we needed to help us drift off. On that note, we found the living room ceiling fan non-functioning when we arrived. We contacted the manager of the unit and she came over to check right away. By the next day, the manager already had a handyman come and install a brand new ceiling fan in the living room (I'm sure with Amy's authorization to go ahead with the work). We were very impressed with how responsive Amy/Heather was as well as how quickly this was all handled. With the brand new ceiling fan in the living room, we found we never had to turn on the AC at all! Much more environmental.

We also enjoyed the lanai. It gave us a partial view of the ocean. The sounds of the waves added to the ambiance. The lanai also had partial tree coverage to provide same shade as well as a sense of privacy. There were even some zebra doves that nested right in the trees in front of the lanai. We made it a habit to check in on them everyday...

All in all, an extremely peaceful stay. We have already tentatively made plans to come back next year! Mahalo, Amy!

I apologize for the problem with the ceiling fan and am so happy that Heather got it replaces so quickly. She is a gem!!! I love that the birds are still roosting there! When we were there in August I had coffee with them every morning. We named them Huey, Louie and Dewey! I am hoping your trip next year is just as good!

The place was good! Amy was amazing and very responsive and helpful! The condo was stocked with everything I needed and forgot. Walking distance to grocery store, farmers market, beach access, bus route and good food! My favorite part was hearing the ocean waves every night! Felt like my own private bungalow!

The owners and property manager were attentive and helpful, checking in with us shortly after our flight arrived in Maui. We arrived to find the bathroom overhead lightbulb had burned out. The owner responded to a text message quickly, followed by a text from the property manager directing us to a drawer in the kitchen containing lightbulbs and all sorts of other miscellaneous supplies. She also offered to have a maintenance guy come change out the bulb for us (we managed ourselves!).

The condo was well equipped, containing just about every small kitchen appliance/utensil you'd ever need. There was a good stock of cooking staples (oils, spices, sugar, flour, etc), some complimentary coffee, and some goodies left from either the management or a previous guest (thanks for the margarita ingredients and Mike's Hard Lemonades, whoever you are). There were beach towels and chairs that we made good use of (great beaches in close proximity). We also enjoyed laying by the pool on the property - never had to share with more than a handful of people.

The photos of the condo are accurate. The unit is not oceanfront per se, but there is a partial view of the ocean from the lanai, and you're literally steps from the observation deck, and certainly close enough to hear the waves at night. The sunsets from the observation deck were extraordinary - we found ourselves rushing back from dinner just so we could catch the sunset from the property. There was considerable thought (and money) spent in updating this unit. From the hardwood floors and countertops to the furnishings and decor, it stands out among other units (we toured another unit that was for sale and we glanced in other units with open windows as we walked by like creepers).

If you want to stay on a massive property, ride an elevator up to the 20th floor to your room, share a pool with hundreds of other people, and have no privacy - this is not the place for you. We loved the location of Maui Sands. It was walking distance to a farmers market (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday), a great coffee shop, a fresh fish market, an ABC store, and some restaurants. A short car ride (or longer walk) brings you to the big hotels, restaurants and shops on Kaanapali. We found ourselves driving to Front Street in Lahaina (ten minutes or so) just about every night for happy hour. It's quiet and peaceful here, but close enough to the hustle and bustle if you want it.

3rd time at Maui sands

Scared to share as I want to make sure available next trip!! We enjoy the laid back homey feel of this property as well as the location to anything you want to do.

The condo was exactly as described and I love that you don't need to throw out all your condiments and seasonings! Just restock what you might be missing so the next person has basic pantry necessities. Seems that cleaners must check expiry dates to make sure all OK!

Watch the whales from the viewing deck and meet the neighbours without crowds! Always a lawn chair available by ocean or pool. No need to be piled on top of each other like the big resorts.
