About LOU CARRIER
My brothers and I come from a large family who grew up on Cape Cod in Dennis, MA. While we have all moved away from Cape Cod we've maintained close connections to the Cape introducing our families to the very special culture and features the town of Dennis and the Cape have to offer. Together we decided to do something with lasting impact for our families and guests to Worden Hall, a building we had all become very familiar since childhood. Some of us happen to be in the hotel and restaurant business so much of what has been designed at our home was done to higher-end specifications.
Why LOU CARRIER chose East Dennis
The Hall was built in 1865 by the shipbuilders of ye olde, Shiverick Shipyard located just down the road (on the current site of Sesuit Harbor). While the hall has lived many lives and has performed many functions over the years (the town's first Town Hall, the social event space for the town, a part-time church, a lecture hall, library, and art gallery among many other uses) we were committed to establishing a bona fide home and entertainment destination that possessed all the contemporary creature comforts while embracing its history, its location, and the unique stature it commands in the area.
What makes this Estate unique
For family reunions there are few places better. There's not much we didn't consider when renovating/restoring/transforming Worden Hall. Amenities abound. Each bedroom has a 42" HDTV, and it's own private full bath. The Great Room is truly that, GREAT! A spectacular custom bar for 6 with two beverage refrigerators, an ice machine, a 70" HD/3D TV. Dining area seats up to 14. Family Room area features 3 couches and a 70" HDTV. The Mezzanine area of Worden Hall is the game zone with bumper pool table, PacMan game, card table, etc. Their is also our mini Library and a room that is an homage to the US Navy. The kitchen was done to the specifications of a restaurant. All of the artwork displayed in the Hall is original works of the late Donn and Nan Devita, who lived and created art in the Hall for decades. The art was a gift from their daughter to preserve the important impact of these famed Cape Cod artists. The property sits on three beautiful acres with a large field, wooded area, large stone fire pit, stone paver patio and lots of areas to explore including the old Worden Family Cemetery. When preforming the restoration of the building and grounds we needed to restore walls, floors and ceilings and excavate many of the 3 acres of land. What we found in the area never ceased to surprise us. Arrowheads from the Cape's native tribes as well as grinding stones. Old bottles dating to the late 1800's, typewriters, medical scales, binoculars, military uniforms, religious vestments, sewing machines, etc from the first half of the 1900's were uncovered in the attic, under floorboards, and long forgotten hatches. Many of these items are on display in the Hall.

We didn’t want to leave!
Worden Hall was the perfect place to stay. The location was central to everything. The house was beyond our expectations...decor, amenities, etc. Lou was such a wonderful host. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to call home for our visit to the Cape! Thank you so much!
House and experience were absolutely 5 star
The photos of the house don't really do it justice. The house is BIG. We had 4 families and each had a private suite with room for more. Hidden gems are Sonos sound system indoors and out; beautiful, well equipped bar area; game area on the second floor and outdoor shower. You can see some of this in the photos but again they don't do it justice. You'll enjoy the fire pit and large private patio.
We have traveled all over the world and stayed and in a lot of 5 star homes and this one is right up there with the best of them.
We are already planning on a return trip next year.
Lou and John are particular about who stays in the house and rightfully so. I am sure you will enjoy your stay as much as we did because they are particular.
A wonderful review from first class guests from the South! Thank you very much, Collins Clan. Us Yankees may not know all there is about southern charm but we know a little about Cape Cod hospitality. So glad you had an enjoyable time and took advantage of the features of Worden Hall. We hope to welcome you back next season.
An unmatched vacation!
It's reasonable to say our family sets a pretty high bar of expectation when we vacation. We've been known to curse our vacation spot if it rains for instance. No cursing at Worden Hall. Toughest part was packing to leave on Sunday morning, crying kids and husbands. The home is meticulously cared for and every area is unique and so well laid out it makes for privacy, gathering, and just plain fun! The owners are picky btw. Lou "interviewed" me AND my husband before agreeing to rent to us. At the time it seemed a bit much but we totally understood when we arrived. Worden Hall is awesome and he obviously wants to have respectful people enjoying it. The home, the grounds, the location all incredible. Bathrooms plentiful and spotless. Bedrooms private and comfortable with big screen tv's. The game area, the dining room, bar, fire pit, tv room, kitchen, gigantic tv's, etc. All were great. (Also, their is the Worden family cemetery from the late 1800's up behind the home about 50 yds that is phenomenal to walk through.). So much to do in the area and so convenient we were glad we brought our bikes. Lou sent us a welcome package a week or so before we arrived which had area guides, tips for beaches and other things to do, and even a neat little nautical telescope with a note that read, "Look forward to making great Cape Cod memories!". Very thoughtful. Our two families have taken 5 vacations together since our kids were young. Our Worden Hall vacation on Cape Cod is our hands down best! Great memories.
Binger, thank goodness I wasn't around to see the weeping dads on departure day! I'm so pleased your vacation was a success and that Worden Hall was a positive part of it. We're looking forward to your return trip in 2017. Lou
Our Cape Cod Summer 2015
We had an incredible summer at Worden Hall, East Dennis, MA. Location was perfect, nearby awesome restaurants, loved Sea Street Beach, shops, groceries...it was fabulous.
The house was well equipped with everything you would need...
We walked to the beach, (about a mile) through a beautiful historic neighborhood.
The house allowed us to have several visitors over the two months we were there. We plan to return next summer for sure.
Can't tell you how great it is to hear your family's experience was a positive one and thank you for treating Worden Hall as if it was your own. Its very much appreciated!
Where to begin? We understood we would be the first renters into Worden Hall after the major restoration when we secured our early summer week. We were slightly concerned we'd be working through some growing pains. There were none! Our two families met (us from New York, our friends from London) and I can say the reaction from the adults and teenagers was the same when we pulled up, WOW! It took a couple days of saying, "I can't believe this is all ours" before it really sunk in. The pictures on the site do not do the place justice. Every inch of the "Hall" was thought out and considering how big it is that's saying something. The bedrooms are fabulous; great beds/linens/pillows/bath towels. The bathrooms, gorgeous and functional. Even the smaller ones have everything you need and the tile work, showers, etc. are beautiful. (If you are looking for a tub to take a bath forget it, all showers). The kitchen is over the top! Totally first class. Our friend is a wanna-be Chef and we couldn't pull him out of there. Can't imagine how much they spent on the appliances. The mezzanine game area was a hit with the kids. The main common area of the home is something to behold. The bar area looks like it was designed for a high-end restaurant, the dining area the same. In fact, the place feels almost like a hotel more than a home. The 12 of us ate dinner together 5 of the nights we were there because the KIDS didn't want to go out! The family room, the huge TV's, comfy couches, and all the design touches are simply incredible. The patio, fire pit, and entire "plantation" of land are things we didn't even really think about until we were there. Another bunch of, "WOWS"! The brothers who own the place, Lou and John were awesome. Friendly, helpful, responsive.Obviously a lot of pride in the place. Deb the cleaning lady was great, too. The second day we were there a van full of "historians" from Cape Cod showed up to take pictures out front because the owners had apparently been selected to win the Cape Cod preservation award for their renovation of Worden Hall. They deserve it. We've been going to the Cape as a family since I was a kid and have kept the tradition going with our kids. We normally go in July but had to go early this year to be with our friends. For me it was a Top 5 trip to the Cape. Our kids said it was their favorite. We hope to secure two weeks next summer at Worden Hall (hint-hint, Lou. We are ready to secure as soon as you are ready!) Overall and A+
What a wonderful review. Glad the families had such a great time. Thanks so much for taking the time provide feedback. I will follow up with you about next year's dates.
