Why John Jonge Poerink chose Southampton
I bought this Southampton property as a weekend house, away from New York City to be close to the beach for surfing, swimming and riding bikes. The house has the advantage of being on the west side of the Hamptons, just an hour and a half away from the city and it avoids the notorious weekend traffic on the 27 highway between Watermill and East Hampton. The house is minutes away from the immaculate Southampton Town beaches (beach deck chairs provided). Southampton Town has terrific lunch or dinner restaurants including St Ambroeus, Le Charlot, Red Bar, Little Red, Tutto Il Giorno and Silvers and some a great shopping. I recommend shopping for groceries at the local organic farm stands in the neighborhood ( The Green Thumb in Watermill is excellent), or Southampton's local organic store Second Nature and Cittarella. The house sits on an acre of land with a large deck with lots of sun great for lounging on the deck chairs and reading and has a large outdoor shower. You can also hop on a bike ( 2 beach cruiser bikes are included) and cruise 1 minute down the hill for a long walk, run or swim in Shinnecock bay. The house is light, with an open kitchen that looks onto the deck and is excellent for entertaining guests for drinks or dinner. The deck has the prerequisite Weber grill.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very charming Southampton home. The home was immaculate and very well-maintained. The owner provided valuable information on the home and the surrounding area. He also made a number of accommodations for us which made the trip very special. Being greeted by fresh flowers on the table was a real plus. We look forward to returning to this home.

Great location, clean, great decor, helpful host
We stayed at John's place for 10 days at the end of Aug. it was a perfect vacation spot for a family of 4. The house is within 10 minutes of 4-5 beautiful beaches less than 10 minutes away from Southampton Village, very clean, comfortable with a nice screen room. John was very helpful and gave us lots of suggestions for beaches, wineries and golf courses. Highly recommend the place.

This is a very cool summer house offering modern european interior design and a great location. We very much enjoyed this property with our 2 teenagers for a two-week summer vacation in the Hamptons this year. We had a great time and we definitely will be back.
John, the owner, made the reservation and the administrative processes very easy and welcoming. The mail/phone response times are examplatory. The check-in/-out process was super easy and well organized. We received an 'instruction manual' for the house well before our stay, and John was available all the way .. we felt in very good hands.
We especially enjoyed the layout and the Bauhaus-Design elements making it something special. In combination with the plenty features it became our favorite 'home' in the Hamptons ... not only for the summer!
jewel of a house
I was looking for a small and exceptionally clean house for our family of 6 (two girls 11 and 13) when I came upon this little gem. It is aesthetically pleasing and very well maintained. I was attracted to the abundance of light and the simplicity of the decor . It is conveniently located since you need not travel thru all the Hamptons to get there and close enough to town as well as to a major ocean beach. One could also frequent the bay beaches which were very nearby. John was always available for whatever we needed whenever we needed it . In the morning we had coffee on the screened in porch and in the evening a drink on the terrace as we prepared to cook on the grill. We found the view from the terrace into the woods very relaxing and the outdoor shower perfect after our visits to the beach.. The house comes with quality linens and towels for bath and beach. The kitchen was well equipped with brand new all clad cookware. We like the low key restaurants in the immediate area . Our grand daughters loved the old fashioned swing that John hung from the trees and my husband and son loved the hammock. I would have no reservations recommending this house .

We had a wonderful week's stay at this house. John was an excellent host and was available to answer questions and provide recommendations at all times. The house is decorated in a chic modern style with beautiful furniture and artwork and is kept immaculately clean. There are plenty of linens and dishes, convenient appliances and excellent wifi. The location could not be any better. We went into Southampton every evening for dinner and to walk on the beach, just 5 minutes away. It was also quick to get to the North Fork to explore the wineries, which we did easily on two different days. To top it off, there was a snow storm so we went sleigh riding in the large beautiful backyard and came into warm ourselves by the cozy fireplace. It was a perfect trip and we will be back!
This home is fully licensed for rental by the Town of Southampton. Rentals that run Friday to Friday are preferred. Check-in at 5pm and Check-out is 11 am. Owner will send renters a rental contract upon completing the reservation. The Rental Rate shall include all costs of electrical, water, garbage removal and garden maintenance, but shall exclude costs related to air-conditioning or oil-heating expenses (“Airco Expenses”). The one time cleaning fee (“Cleaning Fee”) shall be three hundred dollars ($300). The refundable damage, and Airco Expenses deposit shall be seven hundred dollars ($700.00) (“D&AC Deposit”). Owner will refund the D&AC Deposit within (7) days after the last day of the Rental Period, but shall subtract any Airco Expenses incurred by Renter during the Rental Period and any damages made to the Property during the Rental Period. Cancellations: o Renter may cancel the reservation at no charge if the cancellation is made more than sixty (60) days prior to the first day of the Rental Period and the Owner will promptly refund to the Renter any advance payments made towards the Rental Rate, Cleaning Fee, D&AC Deposit and the VRBO/HomeAwayService Fee. o If the Renter cancels the reservation between sixty (60) days or less prior to the first day of the Rental Period and more than thirty days (30) prior to first day of the Rental Period, the Renter will forfeit 50% of the total Rental Rate and the full VRBO/HomeAway Service Fee. The Owner will promptly refund any advance payment to the Cleaning Fee and the D&AC deposit. o If the Renter cancels the reservation thirty (30) days or less prior to the first day of the Rental Period, the Renter will forfeit any payments made towards the Rental Rate and VRBO/HomeAway Service Fee. However, the Owner will promptly refund the D&AC Deposit and the Cleaning Fee.
