About this property
Sunburst Creekside Cabin
Idyllic mountain A-frame cabin in a gorgeous wooded setting. Guests have access to the full property. The Sunburst Cabin is surrounded 180° by a creek, a babbling waterfall, and a flat back yard with a new Hot Tub! The trees and rhododendrons envelope you, making it feel like you’re staying up in the trees. The covered back deck is a guest favorite, even enjoyable in the rain (maybe even the best time to sit out)!
The primary bedroom is on the main level and has a king bed with premium mattress and bedding. The Full Bath is on the main level as well. The Loft has 2 twin beds with memory foam mattresses, and a private room with another twin bed and half bath. The Kitchen is stocked with everything you need for your stay.
The Space The Main level features the Primary bedroom, full bath, full kitchen and dining area, living room with gas fireplace, full laundry room, and the walk-out covered back deck. There are steps down to the back yard and creek, hot tub, and fire pit (firewood not provided). The back deck is a guest favorite for morning coffee listening to the waterfall and birds, as well as evening drinks under the lights!
The Loft area sleeps up to 3, with 2 twin beds in the main loft space, and a private bedroom with another twin bed and the half bath. There is also a 'reading nook' and game table in the loft.
There is a pack-n-play in the upstairs closet, as well as fixed baby gate at the top of the loft stairs and a removable baby gate for the bottom of the stairs for families with small children. The back yard has a charcoal grill (charcoal not provided), just roll it out away from the house when you want to grill.
2 coffee makers in the kitchen: - Drip style - Keurig
Kitchen basics: - Spices - Olive Oil - Salt & pepper - Paper towels, dish soap
5 minutes from nearest grocery store - Ingles.
A couple of our favorite restaurants are 5 min away, Peddlin' Pig BBQ, Sunrise Grill, and The Cardinal. Many more 10 min or less away. There is a Dining and Entertainment guide at the cabin for more recommendations!

Everything was awesome; lots of little touches that made the place feel very homely. So many accommodations and ways to enjoy your stay. The location was nicely private and secluded while also being close to the city and surrounding activities. Very much enjoyed our stay.
It was an amazing property with so much to offer. There were so many unique features - creek winding around the fire pit, hot tub, hammocks, small waterfall creating a peaceful sound, a beautiful deck for relaxing, fun loft for kids, and overall great location. Host had great tips for nearby adventures and restaurant recommendations. Overall great getaway!
We loved our long weekend at this property! The surrounding land, creek and hot tub were a huge hit for a fun snowy adventure. The home is beautiful and well maintained / stocked. Would love to stay here any time of year and can’t wait to come back.
This house was perfect for our weekend! The hot tub is amazing, JD is very hospitable and the house was well taken care of. We are already planning to book again soon!
This house was well stocked with everything we could have ever needed. Very clean, cute decor and we loved the hot tub! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Gorgeous setting for this charming cabin! We fell in love with the place and were sad to leave. All essentials are provided. It’s evident that much care goes into making it a cozy retreat. Such comfy furniture and bed as well. We can’t wait to go back.
Such an amazing property!!! I feel like all we had to do was just show up! So much detail, made this stay unforgettable. We came as a family of three to play some baseball at ASU, but this place made it super special for our family.
This was our 3rd time staying at the Sunburst cabin. The location is close to everything and the cabin is perfectly quaint and private. We love the outdoor space.
We always love our time at Sunburst Cabin! The cabin is cozy, clean, well stocked and perfectly located. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Sunburst!
My son & I enjoyed staying in this great cabin while touring App. It felt very secluded, but convenient to campus. Loved the porch, fire pit and hot tub. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!

About the host
Hosted by JD Ross
Hi, we're JD & Meredith! We bought the Sunburst Cabin with Meredith's parents as a getaway and mountain retreat and have renovated the entire house. We love this cabin like our home and want to share it with others since we can't use it full-time. Our 3 daughters love the flat back yard, the creek that runs across the property behind the house, soaking in the hot tub, and watching the birds flutter around all the bird feeders on the back deck.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property for its secluded feeling, while still being a short drive to all the amenities of the High Country. Minutes from Boone, Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, Banner Elk, the Blue Ridge Parkway, ski resorts, hiking, fishing, and more...it's really in the perfect location. It has a creek that nearly circles the back of the cabin with trout darting in out of the shadows, and a small waterfall that constantly plays a soundtrack reminding you you're in the mountains.
What makes this property unique
Sitting in the Sunburst Cabin, you look out every window and see nothing but trees, rhododendron, birds, and the hills surrounding the house. Meredith says it's "like being inside a terrarium". There are other homes around and you can even see a few through the trees, but it still feels like you're all alone.
