Note for 2019: We won't begin accepting new bookings for next summer until February, giving family and returning renters (our first priority) the chance to make plans. Please check back for availability then if you're still looking.
The rustic Red Point Cottage, built about 1930, shares with two other cabins a peninsula of 19 private acres, and a deep water dock in Seal Cove. Sixteen of the acres are covered by a conservation easement in perpetuity, but are open for exploring by our guests. Breathtaking views of Penobscot Bay from the large front porch, and a brick fireplace for evenings and rainy days. Secluded woodland paths and long private beach with tidal pool. 30 min. to Blue Hill and 90 min. to Acadia National Park.
Master bedroom with queen bed, second bedroom with double and one twin, third bedroom with two twins, and pull-out futon in living room. 1 1/2 baths and all bedrooms have ocean views. Full kitchen with dining area. Pillows and blankets provided; tenants are responsible for bringing own sheets and towels.
For evenings and foggy days, the living room is well-stocked with a wide variety of games, puzzles, and books, with a large selection of nature study handbooks.
The well on the property serves 3 houses, and has never run dry; however, it recharges slowly. We ask all guests to practice good water conservation (short showers!), and this is particularly important for larger groups.
Our general pet policy is that we ask that you agree to be fully responsible for any damage or extra cleaning costs, ensure that they are flea and tick protected, monitor them closely for any fleas or ticks that may be brought into the house, and bring throws for the furniture if they like to climb up-- bedspreads, blankets and pillows need to be kept clean for future guests as we have no laundry available. Any droppings around the houses or paths should be disposed of properly. Also, since the appeal of our place is its natural setting, we would not want dogs prone to excessive barking or who aggressively chase wildlife.
