About Linda & Jorge Gonzalez
Raised in New Jersey (too crowded). Chicago winters (too cold). Florida summers (too hot!). Clemson University grad (go Tigers!). And all we ever wanted to do was live in the mountains. We finally realized our dream and settled in the one of the friendliest small communities surrounded by nature's beauty which awes us every day. Peace. Nature. Tranquility. We found our serenity.
Linda & Jorge Gonzalez purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Linda & Jorge Gonzalez chose Hayesville
We discovered Hayesville and Clay County after driving west from the crowds and hubbub of the Asheville area. Convenient to three metropolitan airports (Atlanta, Asheville, Chattanooga), Hayesville prides itself as being 'two hours from anywhere'. A largely rural area surrounded by national forest, the town boasts both a single stop-n-go light and a nationally recognized fine-dining restaurant. The area is rich in local folk arts and culture, with the John C. Campbell Folk Art School nearby. Recreation choices abound-- fishing and boating on Lake Chatuge is 10 minutes away. Hiking, waterfalls, golf, antiques galore. Concerts on the square, festivals and vineyards make it hard to choose what to do each day, especially on a summer weekend. The cabin is convenient to town but feels a world away.
What makes this Cabin unique
Turn off the road, drive past the pasture, look across the pond, cross over the creek and you've entered a different world. Blackwell Branch Cabin is the sister property to Gili's Cove Cottage (VRBO#659518). The cabin sits right on the creek-- a rushing, stocked trout stream right outside your windows. The cabin and cottage are next to each other, but not too close-- separated by more than an acre of woods. Perfect for lots of family time together and lots of privacy when you need it. The large farm-style dining table inside and the large picnic table out on the deck are perfect for family meals or a quiet retreat, always with the sounds of the rushing creek just a few feet away. The pond offers a never-ending show of wildlife-- deer, ducks and geese, cranes and our resident Great Blue Heron and golden eagle. Children love to walk by the pasture and watch the mommas watching over their calves as they run and play, with papa bull always casting a wary eye. Take a walk by the pond and creek-- you'll feel like you're in your own private place in the natural world.

The property was just as described even better. Very clean!! The river on property is just beautiful. The property manager Linda was very accommodating letting my family come a day early due to hurricane in Florida. They also left delicious peaches & Crackers. Thank you so much.
Amazing vacationin the mountains
My husband booked this trip for me for my birthday. We had an amazing time. The location and view of the creek was fantastic. The cabin was beautful and well equipped. The owners were nearby and answered any questions we had about the cabin and surrounding area. Loved setting on the back porch watching nature and listening to the bubbling creek. Owners added special touches that made you feel welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for the wonderful vacation, we plan to come back again!
If you are looking for a place to go for complete relaxation and tranquility look no further. This house is located in a very small quiet town. The house is super clean and has many extra amenities like soap for washing your clothes, coffee, spices, extra toilet paper, etc. Linda is a wonderful host and had special treats for the kids which was super sweet.
Love this Cabin!
Secluded off the road, surrounded by nature with a private creek. This super clean well appointed cabin has large windows and 2 sets of French doors letting in light and the surrounding beauty. The wrap around deck has plenty of room and an outside grilling/eating area.
Linda was very helpful and knowledgeable of all the latest happenings in the area. The hammock is highly recommended for an afternoon siesta! We weren't able to use the fire pit this time because of rainy eavenings, but it is perfectly situated and plenty of firewood is available. Our 2 daughters loved the claw foot tub and wifi, lol.
I especially enjoyed the kitchen that has everything you need.
We'd love to return,
John and Maureen
Great Cabin in Hayesville
We loved our stay. The cabin was perfect and the property was really nice. We enjoyed walking in the creek and visiting the pond. The owners thought of everything and provided lots of great info about the area. We plan on coming back.
Rest and Relaxation on Tusquitee Creek
Cabin was perfect, with beautiful creek in a private location, only a few miles to Hayesville and their friendly local residents. Very clean, well-stocked, and beautiful cabin. Very comfortable beds and living area. All appliances and hi-speed internet worked! And did I mention clean?
Never saw a person except during check-in. The hatchery-supported creek provided lots of fun for the 7 year-old, good fishing, and a perfect backdrop at night to put you to sleep. The fire-pit was a nice place to sit in the evening and roast a few marshmallows and laugh with the kids. And the wrap-around deck was perfect all day long with. We'll definitely be back.
Clay County and the town of Hayesville are located in the mountains of far western North Carolina, far form the tourists and hubbub of Asheville, Highlands/Cashiers and Maggie Valley areas. It prides itself on being "two hours from anywhere", yet is a convenient home base for all sorts of outdoor activities, from boating and swimming on beautiful Lake Chatuge to white-water rafting, hiking in the surrounding national forests, fly-fishing on rivers and creeks, mountain biking and so much more. There are antique shops, flea markets and thrift shops galore for shopping and just plain junking. Spring, summer and fall are festival seasons with everything ranging from tractor parades on the square to our now nationally-famous Pumpkin' Chunkin' in October and the not-to-be-missed Possum Drop on New Year's Eve. But what we don't have is traffic, congestion or roadways lined with strip malls and traffic lights and tourist shops. The local Ingles supermarket (with a Starbucks!) is one of the best around. Stroll around Hayesville's old-fashioned town square with our historic courthouse front and center, and when you're hungry be sure to stop in at The Copper Door, one of the top 100 fine dining restaurants in the country.
So when you're ready to come to the mountains-- the real mountains, the way it used to be-- come to Hayesville and see what all of us already know-- Clay County, Good for the Soul.
