About The Owner

We purchased this beautiful home in July 2016 and just love spending time here. It is the perfect place to relax but also for building fun family memories.

The Owner purchased this house in 2016

Why The Owner chose Panacea

The house is beautiful with its wrap-around porch, cupola and surrounding woods. The view of the lake to the back is stellar, with any luck you might even spot Mr. and Mrs. Otter playing in the lake.

What makes this house unique

Kayaking opportunity in the back lake or into the Ochlockonee Bay from the community dock. Five minutes from the house is Mashes Sands Beach - we love to go there early in the mornings and let the dogs run.

Had a great time!

  • 4 of 5

Lovely house. Lots of space for our 2 families. Kids loved the pool and we used the community pool once. Loved sitting outside for breakfast on the wrap around porch overlooking the small lake. The upstairs loft was great for the teens but would recommend an additional a/c unit as it got very hot during the day. Went kayaking on Wakulla River and visited Wakulla Springs. We all had a great time!

Owner's Response: We are glad you’re enjoyed your vacation at the Prince of Tides. Sorry about the temperature in the cupola, we will certainly install a a/c unit in the upstairs room before summer comes full swing. Come visit again soon!

Quiet and Restful

  • 5 of 5

Our visit was quiet and peaceful. The home was supplied with up scale linens and towels. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and equipment. We enjoyed the view of the lake and the birds that were staying there; we took the kayak for a ride. I am not sure the ducks liked us as much as we liked them. We took several walks through the neighborhood and enjoyed the natural beauty. We ate at four of the local restaurants and enjoyed locally caught seafood and fish.

Perfect family home to experience the 'Real Florida'

  • 5 of 5

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Prince of Tides and will definitely be back. Sabine is great, really helpful and was quick to respond to my emails. The house is a great size and decorated beautifully. We are a big family and love to cook, the kitchen is really well equipped and plenty of work surfaces. The beds are so comfy. It was lovely at night to sit on the porch. The gated community area makes you feel very secure. We were the only people to use the communal pool, which was great. As a family we love the quite area and the chance to just chill and enjoy the fishing and walks around the lake.

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This was the most comfortable home we have ever rented. It had everything for a pleasant, peaceful vacation. I loved the porches, the views from the study, and the pool. My husband loved the fishing and kayaking in the bay. He caught big reds, trout, and flounder. It was just wonderful. Owners are great, and thought of everything to make this house the perfect getaway. We can't wait to come back!

Great home for a family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the best vacation ever at The Prince of Tides. This home had EVERYTHING you could possibly need. We swam in the pool everyday, used the kayaks in the lake, fished and visited a different beach every evening. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful, private, close to everything

  • 5 of 5

Great house, very nicely appointed. Easy check in and check out. Great communication with owner. The location is close to several beaches and fishing locations. Great restaurants and shopping!

The house is in a private community on a cute little pond. The temps in February were in the high 70's all month. We were able to use the house's private pool several times.

Bonus points for pool and kayaks!

We hope to be back!

ENJOY THE FORGOTTEN COAST! There is plenty to do during your stay at the Prince of Tides:

ALLIGATOR POINT/BALD POINT STATE PARK (10 minutes): You can explore the beautiful sand dune beaches in the state park. There are also public access points for the beaches on the residential portion of Alligator Point. Our favorite beach access has parking on the Gulfside and is just over 7 miles from US 98 on CR 370 (Alligator Drive).

ST.GEORGE ISLAND STATE PARK/APALACHICOLA (1 hour): St. George Island has some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. Well worth the drive, a trip to St. George Island can also be coupled with a visit to Apalachicola, a charming coastal town with shops and restaurants.

WAKULLA SPRINGS STATE PARK (20 minutes): Step back in time at this state park that has the deepest natural spring in the Americas. We love the 'Jungle Cruise' on the Wakulla river, which can also be coupled with breakfast or lunch in the Old Lodge. If you want to swim, there is a great swimming area with a tower for kids to jump, but be prepared: The water is much colder than the Gulf!

SALT WATER ADVENTURES (10 minutes): If you are a boater, you can launch your craft at the Alligator Point Marina on Alligator Point or Rock Landing Marina in Panacea, just back up the road 4 minutes on the right-hand side. Both have channels that lead out to the Gulf. You can rent sailboats at the Apalachee Bay Yacht Club in Shell Point (25 Minutes). You can rent motor boats at Shield's Marina in St. Marks. You will find full-service marinas with haul-out services in Carabelle, about 30 minutes west of The Prince of Tides on US 98. Wakulla Dive Center in Medart has scuba diving rentals and equipment. Mike's Marine Supply in Panacea has all your boating necessities. For fishermen, Crum's Mini Mall has a small hardware and tackle/marine supply section as well, also in Panacea. AMS Marine in Medart also has bait and tackle, marine supplies. And don't forget Wal-Mart back in Crawfordville.

GOLF: There is a good golf course at St. James Bay, just on this side of Carabelle. There is another one in Medart.

ST. MARKS WILDLIFE REFUGE AND LIGHTHOUSE (30 minutes): St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge is one of the oldest wildlife refuges in the United States. It serves as a wintering ground for migratory birds, provides lots of guided nature trails for the whole family and in October you can visit the Monarch Festival.
