This 4 bedroom 3 bath mountain vacation rental is unique as it is a working subsistence farm.

Besides a great place to stay, there is plenty to do right here.

Basic pricing is $175 per night for a party of up to 7. If there are more than 7 (up to 11) the nightly

rate goes up to $205. Off season rates are less and very negotiable.

I stay in a cabin by the barn so I can care for the animals and other daily farm related chores.

You are welcome share the chores with me as well as fishing,

outdoor cooking, foraging, hiking, shooting and other activities.

We are located on 13 acres of beautiful rolling mountain property. It's very accommodating (handicap accessible)

having the main quarters all on one floor. Drive into the two-car garage and go right into

the kitchen. There are ponds, gardens, creeks, springs and mountain hiking trails to explore.

The 'Farm Stay' experience has a horse, yard birds, fish and egg laying chickens. And Polly and Clyde...two Great Pyrenees watch dogs who love people. You're welcome

to enjoy the eggs and sample whatever is in season from the fruit trees, grape vines and gardens.

Besides the two-car garage, 13 acres and barn; the newly finished living unit in the basement allows for parties up to 11. The basement is a complete unit with a kitchen, 3 beds, TV and a bathroom. A private entrance and a one car garage make this ideal for cost sharing families vacationing together or just for extra kids. Again, don't hesitate to negotiate directly with me to learn the different options.

A great place for home schooling. Lots of fun things to do and learn any time of the year with a resident guide and teacher. Choose from a list of subjects posted in your cabin. There is a private shooting range. Firearms and archery and fishing are some of the favorite activities. I have a Polaris Ranger to take older folks around the grounds who might not be able to hike the steep terrain.

Foraging and harvesting red and black raspberries, blackberries, apple, peach, pear, cherry, elderberry, black walnuts, wild mushrooms, ramps and fresh garden produce all add to your menu. Truly farm to table healthy living. Your fully equipped kitchen: 2 ovens, a cook top with 6 gas burners, microwave, trash compactor & ice making fridge make it easy and fun to use our home grown produce.

Three ponds have resident ducks, bluegills, catfish, and trout that you can catch and release.

Bringing pets is conditional. We must talk about the issues with my resident dogs and other free range animals. Pets are welcome with conditions.

This estate is very private and secluded yet close to the small towns of Waynesville and Maggie Valley and Lake Junuluska. Not far from Cherokee where Harrah’s casino and Indian Reservation and many other activities provide a great day trip. Also, Asheville for the Biltmore Estate and lots more. And then Tennessee to visit Dollywood or Pigeon Forge.

This farm is only 3 miles from route 40 which will take you to Asheville or Gatlinburg. Close to 3 different entrance points for the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mountain National Park. Nine miles to Cataloochee Valley where Elk can be seen every afternoon.

At 3600 ft., it is usually cool enough to just open the windows, but we have a 'Green' geothermal heat pump that provides both heat and ac when needed. There is a beautiful mountain view from your bedroom window and from the half-covered wrap around deck. You can relax and barbecue in the shade or the sunshine. Summer nights are spectacular with fireflies competing with the stars.

Inside and out there is wireless high speed Internet, High-Def Direct TV and free long distance anywhere in the continental US.

Call ahead for directions to another entrance to avoid the 2 gates.

I retired at 65 from the heat and hustle of Miami to the cooler and laid back community in the mountains.

Like when I ran charter fishing boats, I love to share my experiences here on this 13 acre mountain farm.

I built a cabin by the barn so I can stay here and tend the gardens, orchards and animals.

I love doing the chores on the farm, being close to the animals and protecting them.

Planting gardens and helping things grow so I can preserve them and use them in my own kitchen.

Keeping the grounds and getting firewood keeps me healthy and tired at the end of the day.

I am very fortunate to be living this lifestyle and I am eager to share whatever I can.

Not only was this place stunning there were so many extra perks to make this stay amazing

The house is perfect and has everything you could possibly need. JC was so sweet and accommodating I really wish we had more time to sit and chat with him. I've been to many places and this is one of favorites. It's centrally located yet secluded at the same time. I go back to work tomorrow and plan on seeing when we can go back. Thank you JC so very much and we will be seeing you soon I promise!

Amazing experience

If we want to go back there in future, 1st choice would be this farm house. Everyone enjoyed staying in this house. Very friendly dogs,horse, chicken, turkeys etc. JC is great man, entertained kids every day taking them around in his four wheeler, teaching them fishing and stuff.

From dawn to dusk, its very refreshing to live in this home watching mountains smoking ,beautiful trees, water creek sound, farm animals ..

JC is very friendly man. He would do all he can to the guests enjoy the trip.

Absolutely stunning

This is our second stay at this home. Mr. Dobson spent time teaching our kids how to make bamboo fishing poles and and feeding the animals. This is by far our favorite vacation spot! You will not find a better place or host! We will be back soon!
