The Flager House was designed and built in 1902 by Architect Seth Hunneywell for the Flager family who lived in the house with their four children from October 1902 to 1911. After the Flagers moved out, the house was a rental property for many years and then passed through several owners. The current owners purchased the home in November of 2006 after it had been lovingly restored and updated over the past several years by the most recent owners.
The home features an oak staircase with a large landing, a pressed aluminum ceiling in the kitchen, maple floors downstairs, clear pine floors upstairs and a richly carved fireplace mantel in the living room. The original moldings around doors and windows are still in place, along with picture rails and ornate doorknobs. The original billiard room in the third story was converted by the most recent owners to a master bedroom (the Wine and Roses Room) and features a king size bed, a dresser chest, ample closets and a pillow covered window seat with great views of the nearby mountains. Just about all rooms in the home receive light from two sides, which makes it very bright and pleasant.
The second floor bedrooms include the Yellowstone Room with a queen bed and large chest for storing clothes as well as a generous size closet; the Silver Run Bunkhouse room contains a double bed bottom bunk with a twin bed top bunk (in the rear half of the room) and twin bunk in the front half of the room (both halves of the bunk house have a small five-drawer chest of drawers with ample closet space for storage of clothing). The fourth bedroom, the Rock Creek Room, has been furnished with a queen sleep sofa and a large comfortable chair and doubles as sleeping space and a cozy reading area. There is a full bath on the second floor with tub and shower.
The main floor features an eat-in kitchen with all cooking amenities required for a longer stay although restaurants in town are mostly marvelous! The living room has a large sofa, home theatre system with five disc DVD/CD changer and cable TV. The generously sized formal dining room can seat several around the beautifully tiled round table. Full laundry facilities are available in the laundry room off the kitchen which features an additional vanity sink as well as a water closet. There is also a gas grill on the deck outside the back door, an outdoor table and plenty of chairs.
The outdoor hot tub adjacent to the sun room on the back of the garage is wonderful for soaking achy muscles after a day of skiing on the slopes, biking local trails, or hiking in the beautiful Montana high country.

- Red Lodge is located on the Beautiful Beartooth Highway and the northeast (Silver Gate) entrance to Yellowstone Park is about a 90 minute drive over the Beartooth Highway via Cooke City MT, Custer Battlefield is about a two hour drive from Red Lodge and Billings MT offers many amenities such as live music and annual fairs/rodeos, The area is filled with many opportunities for exploring spectacular scenery and Montana Big Sky sunsets and sunrises can be viewed right from the house, Sam's Tap Room (the home of excellent microbrewed Red Lodge Ales) is a short walk from Flager House and many downtown restaurants as well as shopping are also an easy walk from the house.

Why the Owner Chose Red Lodge
The house chose us... we were on vacation in Red Lodge in August, 2009 and saw the house on our "walking" tour of Red Lodge. (we did the walking tour on bicycle) On our last day in Red Lodge, we asked to be shown the house and then returned home. But I could not get the property out of my mind and have always loved Red Lodge (graduated from high school in nearby Billings) so kept in communication about options for purchasing and finally decided to "just do it!" As of Nov, 2009, we became proud owners of this lovely home and hope others enjoy it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this Victorian Style Home
We love our house not only for its beauty and comfort but also for the short walking distance into downtown Red Lodge with it's fine dining opportunities and local shops. We bike easily around town for most of our errands locally and natural beauty is a short drive away... hiking, biking, fishing, photo opportunities... the options are endless... and don't forget Yellowstone Park!!! We also love the friendliness and helpfulness of locals, having a brew at Sam's Tap Room (an almost daily ritual when we visit), etc. Visitors will have a dining card for Bridge Creek Restaurant (our favorite in town) as part of their stay ... gives a discount of some sort that I cannot recall at the moment!
Not sure if it's here or earlier... but Rock Creek Vista gives a spectacular view of the Rock Creek Valley, has a "potty" stop (outhouses are very clean!) and is not to be missed as you travel over th
