What a beautiful place. The boys had such great adventures climbing hills and playing in the creeks and waterfalls. We have shared your site with a few of our friends as well. We are 'adopting the house' as OUR mountain home and will be requesting same time next year when you have the calendar available. The kids even said the vacation was better than Disney. I know for us it was a heck of a lot more relaxing... a very special home and we appreciate you sharing it with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: A lovely couple and two charming boys. They sent me a photo of the two young adventurers in front of the stream and fall colours. The cabin and property provides for joy, fun, and peace and I am so happy that they will be returning. - Stacy

Brooksong is peaceful, secluded and good for the soul! Each of the three generations in our family enjoyed the cabin, porch, swings, waterfall and streams! Have some firewood delivered and enjoy a fire in the beautiful stone fireplace. The outside views from this room are amazing! The beds are warm and the kitchen inviting! Stacy made our stay so easy, she provided great driving directions and answered all of our questions. The property was clean and obviously cared for and loved! You will love spending time at Brooksong!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had an incredible time in this secluded cabin. The important amenities were all there. The lay-out of the cabin is very convenient. Went to sleep with the sounds of the waterfall in our ears. Well kept and clean. Owners easy to work with. As beautiful as the photos are they do not do this place justice. Plan to have your first days food with you. The grocery store is a bit of a drive and honestly, you won't want to leave when you get there.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: What wonderful guests! We do not ask our guests to leave reviews and usually we post what guests write in our cabin guestbook. We so appreciate their kind words! Thank you! Brooksong is one of a kind and the peace you find there is amazing...

I wanted to thank you for a wonderful stay at Brooksong. It was perfect. It far exceeded our expectations. We travel a lot and found the cabin to be our new favorite place. We were able to bring my wife's 91 year old uncle up from Brevard for the day. He was obviously impressed as well. He has been a 25 year resident of another local mountain community and it really lifted his spirits to be at your cabin. Our daughters are 13,12 and 9 and were never bored. We hope to visit again soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

WOW! WOW!! WOW!! We have fallen in love with your amazing "Brooksong Cabin". The beautifully furnished house, amazing landscaping surrounded by a babbling brook...and to top it off with the incredible waterfall. We have been blessed by your generosity to share your slice of heaven with us. We have never felt more at peace with nature and relaxed. We hope to return again! What a place you have here! The waterfall, creeks, the porch. Our most difficult time here was leaving the comfort of the porch. The birds at the feeder are awesome. I found Peace at the waterfall meditating in the mornings. Oh, but now back to the real world. Will be back here againDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was the third house we have rented in the Brevard area, and by far our favorite. It was my family of three and another couple. The set up of the house was perfect for traveling with another couple as the two bedrooms are on different floors. Everything was modern and well maintained within the house. Outside was spectacular. My family, who normally runs from sun up to sun down, spent a day just relaxing outside on the property. The waterfall is much more impressive in person and the porch on the back of the house was the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking. We loved the fire pit and actually cooked our dinner over an open fire one night. Definitely follow the directions that you are sent with your confirmation as there is no cell service on the mountain. The gravel driveway is steep but we were able to get up the driveway without four wheel drive (not sure that would happen in the winter though). We were also able to bring our dog who loved being able to run on the property. This cabin is definitely our first choice in Brevard.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Mary for your kind words. What wonderful guests you are! Yes, the waterfall is impossible to photograph... even with my 6 foot husband Michael standing on one of the rocks below!

Enjoyed our stay. Peaceful, remote area. The gravel road was well maintained and not extremely steep or curvy. The top of the driveway was a little steep, but nothing like some of the others I've seen. Our family met my goal of eating every meal outside on the beautiful deck! (We did pack a picnic one day and ate outdoors at Whitewater Falls.) Especially appreciated being provided with all the basics we needed, like kleenex and dish/laundry/bath soap, all towels, etc. The kids enjoyed the popsicles and graham crackers that you left. The only downer was that the DVD remote was missing, but luckily we had our own portable player. We didn't have cell phone coverage in the area, so be sure not to rely on cellphone maps. The kids were so happy to have Wi-fi. Very nicely landscaped, and the flowers were in bloom for us. It must be a lot of work to keep the place up like that. Lots of waterfalls in the area, but a little ways to drive to see them. We saw 10. I bought a North Carolina Waterfalls book online (by Kevin Adams), which gives directions to some lesser known falls in the area. While at the cabin, we saw Toxaway 5/10, White Owl 7/10, Whitewater 10/10, Rainbow 10/10 (a 3.5 mile or longer hike), Turtleback 6/10 (1/4 mile past Rainbow), Diamond Creek (Skip this one- no parking & not visible from one lane gravel road), Lemon (the trail you want is the one by the rock), Mill Shoals 5/10, Bird Rock 7/10 and Eastotoe 8/10. My favorite was Bird Rock Falls which is a short hike from Mill Shoals. Eastatoe Falls is a really close awesome private waterfall in someone's backyard that allows visitors. From US 64, dive 3.4 miles south on US 178 and turn right into a private gravel driveway between 2 ponds at a sign saying Mountain Meadow. Park to the left of the house. It's even closer to go Old Toxaway Road to 178 (right-South). Many more waterfalls in the area we didn't get to yet. I would recommend this cabin to a friend/relative.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.
Owner response: We are so grateful to have Jennifer's review. What a great list of waterfalls! We found the missing remote and returned it to a visible place! If the cabin is not rented we owners try to stay there to enjoy the atmosphere, gardens, and water. The work in keeping up this enchanted place is truly a joy.

About the owner: Michael and Stacy are the owners of this one-of -a kind log cabin situated south of the Blue Ridge parkway overlooking Lake Jocassee. We are both classical musicians which we enjoy now primarily as a hobby. Michael a professional flutist for 20 years and Stacy an opera singer for the past 12 years. We enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the land surrounding the cabin and Brevard. Stacy spends most of her time in the garden fussing about and Michael with a honey do list...
Why the Owner Chose Brevard:
When we first drove onto the bridge and saw the cabin and its environs we went crazy. It really is a story book setting and hard to photograph. The sound of the water falling and moving is never ending - almost like sitting next to the ocean. When we are there the rest of the world is gone and the peace of the landscape inhabits our minds and beings. Brooksong is its own little secluded world.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
What is unique is the water, seclusion, and the beauty of the log cabin itself. The interior is warm and inviting. Many furnishings are antique, unique, and some made by Stacy and her 84 yr old shop teacher friend Walter. Rooms are spacious with three rooms for gathering - 24x16 double vaulted ceiling sun room with 10 windows, a double vaulted ceiling den next to the dining room and kitchen, as well as a loft with a desk and log bed futon. The covered deck is also large and a great place to eat, relax, or to watch the rain feed the waterfall and streams.
