  • Awesome Mountain Trip

"This was our first time to the Great Smokies. We typically hike near Brevard, NC and decided to try this area. We arrived on Saturday 8/9/14 and left on Sunday 8/17/14. The cabin was wonderful. It had all of the amenities that you could need or ask for. The hot tub was a hit with the kids. There were 6 of us, ages ranged from 53 to 16, and the cabin was plenty big for all of us to get around and not be in anyone's way. The view is somewhat blocked by the trees around the cabin, but it didn't bother us. It was refreshing to wake up and look out and see the mountains and be surrounded by nature sounds. Other cabins are along the road, but never saw one person nor heard any sounds. The fire pit was a hit, and it was a plus that there was wood to be used. We travelled to a lot of areas, Joyce Kilmer, Tale of the Dragon, Cade's Cove, Clingman's Dome, Newfound Gap, Deep Creek, Snowbird Creek, Tsali, Twenty Mile. There are plenty of hiking trails in and around these areas. Access to the cabin, is quite a steep hill, we had 2 vehicles, a Ford Taurus and a Honda Accord. We had no problem getting up the hill, just a little slow. We came fully stocked and but still had to make a couple of trips to the grocery store in Robbinsville, about 15 minutes away. One caution is Graham County is a dry county, so if you run out of spirits, you need to travel to the next county. You can tell that the owners take great pride in their property. They are very easy to work with, very responsive stay was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who is interested in hiking, exploring or just sitting back reading, enjoying the scenery, hot tub, fireplaces, etc."

"We stayed in July 2010 and were not expecting much more than a basic place to spend the night for such a low price. We were pleasantly surprised. It is definitely not a luxury cabin - more like a quirky little grandmother's house, but it does have comfortable beds and a great deck directly over the little creek. My kids loved playing in the creek and the yard. The house is clean, has comfortable beds, and the landscaping is very well maintained. The kitchen and living room are very small but we spent most of the time on the deck. For the price it beats a cheap motel room any day. We only saw a few cars pass during our stay, and the only sounds you hear are the creek and the birds. The owners were very nice to deal with also. Great location for mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, and enjoying Fontana Lake."

  • Fabulous family get away spot

"My wife and I stayed with our two boys (13 yr and 20 months), and I don't think we could have had more fun. Our teen thoroughly enjoyed the retro video tape selection, and family movie nights, while our toddler dug up every one of the toys in the bountiful supply of the cabin. He spent hours playing with them on the screened in porch. Whitewater kayaking, fishing, and flat water kayaking are all available within a few minutes of leaving the cabin, and we took advantage of it all. Everything looks classic and perfectly appropriate for the setting. If you don't mind a few spiders and simple surroundings, this is the place for you. We cannot wait to return."
