About the property

Lake Glenville, NC

Modern mountain luxury awaits at this 5,000 sf stunning new construction home. Situated in the heart of Fenley Forrest, it is perched atop one of the most pristine and unique points in the center of Lake Glenville. It is nestled away in the canopy of the forest yet only a 15 minute drive to Cashiers town center and a 25 minute drive to the Main Street of Highlands. It is highly secluded yet a quick drive to all of the area’s amenities and attractions! The entry floor boasts 30 ft ceilings with a stunning floor to ceiling fireplace, an open floor plan and panoramic views of Lake Glenville. The floors are a wide plank, barn wood look, contrasted by soaring white walls curated with modern mountain artwork.

The professional chef’s kitchen is complete with a gas powered commercial grade stove that allows you to prepare a gourmet feast! It has 6 large gas burners, a 24 inch griddle, a broiler and 2 large ovens. The center island of leathered gray and white granite is so large, it invites everyone to participate, play and party in the kitchen. Flanked by 12 bar stools, it also serves as a fun spot for game night or setting up a breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet bar. Perimeter countertops are steel gray quartz. Other features include a large capacity professional series refrigerator, pot filler, microwave, dish washer, commercial style pull down kitchen sink faucet, and a large, double sink.

The laundry room has a high efficiency washer/dryer with a utility sink and ample quartz countertops for folding.

The dining room is more akin to a well-appointed banquet hall with seating for 14 at the sprawling Restoration Hardware farmer’s table. Ambient amber lighting casts a warm glow from the geometric two tiered chandelier floating above. The giant picture window is like a big screen featuring the motion picture of the swaying branches and rustling leaves of a centuries old tree. The dining room has grand sliding doors that open up to the covered upper patio’s outdoor fireplace replete with rocking chairs for conversation, aperitifs or after dinner drinks.

The master bedroom is truly breathtaking. Occupying 1,000 sf of sophisticated and secluded space with heavenly 16ft vaulted ceilings, some of the lake’s best views can be had from its 8 massive floor to ceiling windows. The white leather Italian-made king sized bed feels like a cloud floating through the treetops. For your electronic viewing pleasure, a projection television screen casts a 120” picture on the wall. A sectional sofa makes for a perfect reading nook or invite family and friends in to watch a movie or to enjoy the views in this master suite fit for a king and queen. A French door opens to the upper patio with an umbrella covered dining table for 8 and 2 lounge chairs. The master bathroom has a glass enclosed shower with dual high pressure showerheads, a rain shower in the midpoint and a steam shower. Opposite the shower is a picture window to enjoy forest and lake views while showering. An oversized Jacuzzi tub with lights and jet propulsion is ready to provide decompression and relaxation. The toilet room is separate and his and hers sinks and vanities sit on opposite sides of the bathroom. The master bedroom closet is plenty big to accommodate all of your vacation wears. It also stores a brand new queen sized mattress that can be pulled out to the bedroom for children wanting to sleep near and dear to their parents.

The main floor has a large guest bedroom with picture windows over the king sized bed, bringing the beauty of the outdoors inside. The shower is appointed with stone mosaics and a gray linen tile for a rustic modern feel.

The lower level has 10 ft. ceilings and breathtaking views of the lake. It’s bright, open and airy! There is a gas fireplace in the spacious living room, a dining table that seats 10, a ping pong table and a second full kitchen! The kitchen includes an oversized stainless refrigerator, dishwasher, full sized electric oven and microwave. The breakfast bar seats 4 and doubles as a wonderful buffet table. The 2nd sweeping patio is on this level as well as a staircase to the back yard to access the dock and lake.

The two bedrooms on the lower level include a guest suite with 2 queen sized beds, walk-in closet and beautifully designed bathroom. This bedroom has its own entrance and side patio. The bunk room houses 2 bunk bed sets. Each set has 2 twin beds and 1 full sized bed. This room could sleep 8 children comfortably. It has a walk in closet and a roomy bathroom with double sinks.

The fifth bedroom is a loft with its own half bathroom. The loft has beautifully pitched high ceilings, it's own climate control NEST thermostat and 3 full sized beds. Two of the beds roll into the wall when not in use. The loft is perched above the main floor and overlooks the living room, kitchen and dining room.

The home has Sonos, full internet, a wifi extender, at&t hub, (Verizon is the preferred carrier of the area for best reception.) It’s a smart home with remote electronic locks and climate control. There are 2 separate zones for central heating and cooling with in floor ventilation. There is an extra large Big Green Egg for the barbeque purist and an electric grill option. There is a rustic fire pit in the backyard down by the lake.

Our home has a gentle slope down to the lake making it easily accessible for all ages. One of Lake Glenville’s protected islands sits just offshore of the home’s 130+ feet of lake frontage. What a bonus! In the summertime, the water between the back yard and the island is shallow, providing the perfect swimming lagoon for children. And adults especially appreciate the balmy temperature this shallower body of water provides as the sun glistens and warms it the whole day through. During the Fall and Winter months, the water level of Lake Glenville is lowered by way of the dam. This creates a sandbar which reveals an enormous sandy beach spanning the estate all the way to the outer island. The island promises to afford countless hours of good old fashioned outdoor fun for you and your little pirates year round! There are plenty of activities in the area for kids and adults: shopping, dining, golfing, hiking, white water rafting, a sliding waterfall, photography, gem mining, horseback riding, antiquing and more.

Beautiful home & lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Lake Glenville in this beautiful house! The house was well equipped and the owner responded quickly with any questions/issues. The lake was beautiful (fishing was slow but it was August so that was to be expected, but the tubing from the boat was a blast). The 3 natural waterfalls into the lake are beautiful. We also enjoyed hiking on the nearby trails.

Beautiful, modern, elegant!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Mark & Jennifer's home for a long weekend to celebrate my mother's 65th birthday with all of our extended family. I believe we were the first renters Mark & Jennifer had opened up their newly redone home to.

The home is absolutely stunning - the pictures barely do it justice. It is open, airy and receives tons of sunlight. It is a great house for entertaining - the kitchen is one of the biggest kitchens I have ever cooked in and has a ton of seating for people to gather around while meals are being prepared. There are 2 huge decks for outdoor entertaining as well. We enjoyed our breakfasts outside overlooking the lake and cocktails on the decks in the evenings as well. All of the guestrooms were comfortable and large. If the house had more beds it could definitely accommodate / sleep more than the 20 listed in the summary.

As I mentioned, we were Mark & Jennifer's first renters so there were some kinks that needed to be ironed out but Mark & Jennifer were extremely committed to making sure we had the best experience. They stuck around to settle us in, help us connect to the wifi (which we had some initial issues with), walk us through how to use the kitchen, BBQ, etc. They checked in a few times to make sure things were all going well which we appreciated. They were wonderful hosts.

The house is not easy to get to - be forewarned and be sure you have detailed directions (which Mark had provided me ahead of time). There are awesome hiking trails within driving distance. We stayed at the house the entire weekend and hired caterers so I cannot recommend any local eats other than Smokehouse BBQ... the chef / owner catered a few dinners for us and was awesome!

This house is a show stopper!

  • 5 of 5

Lake Glenville is one of my favorite places to escape the frenetic pace of city life. The mountain views, lack of noise (except for soothing nature sounds), and the tranquility of the lake bring me back year after year. Whenever my stress meter gets too high, off to Lake Glenville I go!

Hands down, this is the best house that I have ever rented on the lake. It is so rare to find a new construction, design oriented home on the rental market. This house looked and felt like a lakeside W! I had family come in from out of the country and wanted to treat them to a mountain weekend getaway. We were all blown away. The house was so spacious, stylish and well appointed. We did a lot of cooking and lounging in front of the fireplace chatting it up. The dock was our second favorite place to sit and take in the views with lattes in hand. I finally found the house that I will keep coming back to!

Unbelievably beautiful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely gorgeous and very well equipped. It's high ceilings and spacious rooms allowed for all of us to have our own space. The kids especially enjoyed the bunk room, ping pong table and having plenty of room to play. The two decks outside allowed us to enjoy amazing views of the lake, beautiful sunsets and outdoor meals. The beach area and island are a backyard playground for kids of any age. Boats are available for rental at the local marina for tubing, water skiing and exploring the lake. There are amazing waterfalls, hiking trails, restaurants, and shopping in both Highlands and Cashiers. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great vacation spot for families of all ages.

Spectacular lakeside home

  • 5 of 5

Heaven on earth. We stayed here with our family and cannot say enough good things about the home, location and owners. The owners thought of everything to make our stay a wonderful experience. The interior is stylish and serene with clean lines and soft colors leading to a spectacular view of the outside. I'm not sure which is more beautiful, the interior or the exterior. The master bedroom is a definite standout. Sleeping in this room is like floating among the trees because of all the surrounding windows. Our kids loved the downstairs game room and easy access to the lake. We stayed in some nights just so we could use the chefs kitchen and gorgeous dining area. We would only stay here again when we revisit. Hands down best house on the lake.
