This cabin-like home is nestled in a hill beside a 250 foot waterfall that can vary from a calm flow to raging fall depending on recent rainfall. As the water cascades to the bottom it turns into a creek that wraps around the property. From the moment you walk in the front door, the focus of this home is the waterfall. If can be enjoyed from almost every room. The house is found at the end of a gravel drive off North Norton Road. It sits just above 3800 ft elevation providing perfect temperatures most of the summer, hence, no air conditioning, just lots of windows and sliding glass doors. There are no neighbors in sight, and while the house is in a private setting, it is still 15 minutes from Cashiers and close to fishing, boating and swimming in Lake Glenville.
If you tire of the waterfall (which I can't imagine), you can relax in front of the fireplace, television (one in the den and in two bedrooms), or just soak in the comfort of the old pine walls and hickory floors. The upstairs is the main living floor and has been renovated using both old and new materials. The owner has painstakingly removed all the original wood from the walls, planed and refinished it, and returned it to the walls. The master bedroom with its newly renovated bathroom is on this floor, as well as the kitchen with stainless appliances, hickory cabinets, and granite countertops. The laundry and a half bath are located beside the kitchen. The downstairs still maintains the character of the original walls and has a small kitchen, two bedrooms and a full bath.

The waterfall cabin is absolutely breathtaking!!!!
The waterfall cabin is truly a unique and beautiful place! Like the other reviewers said, the pictures don’t even compare to how amazing the house truly is! There was a little miscommunication with the directions, but we eventually made it.
We woke up to a beautiful dusting of snow the first morning. It was cold out, but we were very comfortable with the heaters on. The bed was also very comfortable and the sound of the waterfall was so soothing. I really enjoyed the deep soaking tub too. The kitchen was also equipped with everything we needed to cook a few meals. It was so cozy I could’ve just stayed at the house staring at the waterfall the whole time and been content, but it was warmer the next day so we ventured out to High Falls. It is only a few miles away. It’s not the easiest trail, but it’s only 1.4 miles long and totally worth it!! Such an amazing place!!
This was our first time using VRBO and it was such a great experience! We felt so welcome and at home. Thanks so much Michael and Katrina for a wonderful, relaxing time!!
The sound of the a waterfall is so soothing, I just wanted to sit and listen to it all day but there are too many places to hike to see more waterfalls...
Picture perfect! We had a very relaxing time over looking the falls!! Thank you Michael!
Melanie, thank you your kind comments. I am truly glad that you enjoyed your stay and I'm also sending along my thanks for being perfect guests.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at The Waterfall House. Our only problem was that we never wanted to leave to explore surrounding area.
Everything about the house and location was perfect.
The property is beyond amazing. I sat by the waterfall every moment I was at the house and awake.
Pictures did not do the house and surrounding land justice. It was close to so many waterfalls and lake Glenville. The kitchen is newly updated and very functional. There is a great farmers market called Osage that we stopped at before heading up the mountain Only recommend you bring your own knives if you like to cook. I had a hard time with the ones provided. We,are already planning a 2nd trip
We are so glad you had a wonderful time at the cabin and look forward to seeing you again. We really strive to have a kitchen ready for chefs of all levels, so thanks for letting us know about the knives. They are being sharpened or replaced, so no need to bring them!
This was an INCREDIBLE property that will be a regular visit!
The Lafays ( owners) were super helpful! This cabin has no one behind it around the waterfall. My husband and I felt like we were the only people in a little piece of heaven. It was quiet, peaceful, just sheer serenity! The house was beautiful, open, airy, and well organized. The grounds are as beautiful as the house. The lake is 5 min away- which has lots of public areas. There is horseback riding 2-3 miles away. The town of Cashiers was quaint. We suggest eating at the Ugly Dog- as the food is superb.
The house has wifi and a house phone. My Sprint phone didn't work there at all, but I didn't care. Come to Valhalla on earth, unplug, and unwind. You won't regret it. ( note- USE the directions- print them- gps won't stay connected) We plan on making this a regular trip!
The house is located near the town of Cashiers which has several restaurants and seasonal festivals. Lake Glenville is also close by and has water activities---boating and boat rentals, fishing and swimming. The house is on a waterfall and the surrounding area is famous for hiking and the many other magnificent waterfalls that are on the trails.
