The Walton family has lived on this 200 acre property for three generations and have enjoyed the beautiful views and endless outdoor activities that life on the mountain provides. We are passionate about sharing the beauty of our property with others who wish to experience the beautiful Manitou foothills and look to provide quaint comfortable accommodations for any and all looking to explore the Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs area.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1998
Our property provides a unique experience to those looking to visit the area due to its location on private property. This gives our guests plenty of privacy and security while also being located just minutes away from downtown Manitou Springs. Both our Lodge and Cottage provide a feeling of being secluded in the mountains of Manitou Springs allowing for our guests to spend their days down in the city, and when that becomes too much, they have the option to retreat back up the hill to the privacy and quiet of the foothills.
Thank you so much for this wonderful get-a-way. it was so relaxing and enjoyable. the hot tub was great! We were here a few years ago and plan on coming back as this is a great place to get "re-charged".
This cottage is very comfortable. We really enjoyed being so close to Manitou Springs and yet feeling like you were out in the country.
We had a great time at the cottage and we couldn't have had such a great time if it wasn't for Herald! The managers father came and picked us up and took us to the cottage and the next morning took us back down to our car! He went above and beyond to make us able to have a great time! Thank you so much to Herald and David such amazing people to rent from! The views are amazing, the cottage is nice and secluded! We had a great time! The hot tube outside and the jetted tub inside are amazing bonuses! We had the chance to get in the hot tub which was very warm and had great views with the snow on the ground! Cog railway to the top of Pikes Peak is a must only ten minutes away from the cottage, it was an amazing ride with panoramic mountain views! Garden of the Gods is only 15 minutes away. Downtown Manitou Springs a very nice quant area to shop around. We will be returning but next time in the summer, can not wait to come back, great place, amazing people! Thank you again Herald and David!
We really enjoyed our stay at The Cottage. Family gatherings were so crazy in Colorado Springs, it was nice to have a place "outside the city." It was quiet and perfect for our little family- 6 month old baby and a two year old dog. The owner(s) were kind and helpful when needed, too. Next time we're in Colorado, we'll be staying here again! Thank you so much!!
After reading several reviews and descriptions, I opted to stay at the cottage for my husband's 57th birthday. The cottage is located on a dirt road just a little ways off of the pavement. We arrived and just as we were told, the cottage was unlocked and the key was on the kitchen table. It's a small cottage, living room/dining room/kitchen in an open space design. There is one tv in the living room and 2 bedrooms along with the 1 bathroom. The cottage is stocked with cooking utensils, towels etc. They also offer a washer and dryer which was very nice because we could do our laundry before heading out to the airport. We also used the cooking utensils as we cooked all of our meals there.
Now, I am going to list the Pros and then the Cons of this property.
Pros - great outdoor hot tub, very secluded so we had lots of privacy, satellite TV so lots of choices for viewing, jetted tub in the bathroom, heaters worked great to keep us very comfortable, looked clean and smelled fresh, washer and dryer so you can wash your clothes as needed (especially if you are going to stay for more than a few days), they offer WiFi (however it does require a code to access it and the information on the website i received said no code was needed the owner was very quick to respond with the password which was appreciated).
Cons - The bed was not comfortable at all, I was hurting every morning (this is something that could be corrected with a small investment in memory foam mattress toppers for all beds), I am 48 and my hubby 57 and neither could get comfortable, there were mouse droppings in the bathroom drawers (this is a huge turnoff and could've been remedied by vacuuming out the drawers so we didn't have to see it and then wiping down with some bleach).
I don't believe we will stay here again unless those things that I listed were addressed, a good night's sleep is very important when you have busy days of exploring their beautiful town/area! All in all - it's a nice place to stay with a few drawbacks.
The cottage had all the amenities we needed. It was most comfortable. The wifi worked great, we had a fantastic cell phone signal for those concerns but those wanting peace and quiet it has that too. Mule deer just outside the door, the horse and donkeys in the coral just a short walk, you can walk a short distance watch people zipline, beautiful majestic views all around. Town is close but you cannot feel it sitting on Walton's mountain. Loved it. We will be back. Hot tub is a great bonus for the hikes.so much to do so little time my only complaint. Thanks for a great stay no hassle. Owner is great to work with.

My wife and I spent three peaceful nights in the cottage and enjoyed every minute. Everything we needed was provided. Without hesitation, we recommend this cottage.
On 200 acres just above Historic (and newly refurbished) Manitou Springs, a haven for shopping, hiking, and leisure activities. Our property adjoins directly with Pike National Forest, making access to hiking and biking trails. Our 200 acres are also home to what is left of the Midland Railroad! Just a short hike from the front door can take you back in time through the tunnels in which the gold mining trains ran through in order to transport and retrieve gold from the Cripple Creek gold rush.
In addition to all the activities in Manitou Springs, There are also Ziplines on the 200 acre property operated by Adventures Out West, a company that prides itself on bringing adrenaline pumping fun, educational and beautiful tours, and good old Wild west fun to all those who visit the Springs.
