About Sherri Mansell

My husband and I have 4 children ages 12 - 25 and live in South Florida. We have vacationed in western NC for over 25 years where my parents have a home.

Sherri Mansell purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Sherri Mansell chose Blue Ridge Mountains

We chose this location in Black Mountain because it's a very quaint town with great restaurants and so close to the city of Asheville with airport, universities and culture events.

What makes this cabin unique

What we love best about our property is that we are located in the mountains surrounded by nature but have the luxuries of home and only 10 minutes to the grocery store and other amenities.

Great Vacation!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the greatest time at the Preserve cabin! We loved staying there. It was so spacious it allowed us to take another family along with us. The cabin was beyond clean. It really had everything we could have asked for. The property was Awesome! We loved taking hikes along the trails on the property. I even got to relax and hangout in the hammock and read. After hiking and running around all day, the jacuzzi was a super plus! The location is perfect. Asheville was so close and there were so many fun activities around. We ended up going Zip Lining and another park for a TreeTop Adventure. The whole family had a blast and everyone participated. It is the perfect vacation for all ages. (My kids are 11, 14 and 16) We loved going to town which was 10 minutes away and we had really good meals. We loved the Ale House and they had a band playing great music, it was fun. In addition to eating out, we also enjoyed cooking in your kitchen because it has everything. I even needed a blender for one of my meals and you had it in the cabin. We really enjoyed both staying in and going out to eat. I was concerned before we got there that we would not have internet but your wifi worked perfectly so when I needed to work on my computer, I was able to get through everything quickly without problems so I could go back and enjoy my family on our vacation. It is a beautiful Cabin. It was a Great Vacation and it was because we stayed at the most perfect place! The HighRock Preserve!!!!!! We can't wait to go back!!!!

December 2009

  • 5 of 5

Our two familys (5+4) had a wonderful time. The cabin has all of the modern amenities, and the sleeping accommodations are very comfortable. The property is also really nice, especially the outdoor firepit. There are a couple of nice trails on the property - perfect for younger kids because they're not very long. If you are looking for longer/more aggressive hiking, do some research to find some local trails.

Owner's Response: We enjoy hearing that our guests had a wonderful time and enjoyed the trails on the property. If you are looking for longer trials, we recommend Chimney Rock or Montreat trails, both 20 minutes from our property as well as many others in the area.

Casual Elegance in a Relax Enviroment

  • 5 of 5

I have had the pleasure of staying in the Highrock Preserve Cabins for three years. This is the first time I stayed in the Pond view cabin and found it just as cozy and well kept as the larger cabin.

All cabins is well appointed with great kitchens, family rooms, playroom, grills and hot tubs.

Looking forward to our next visit.

The Preserve property was gorgeous, cozy, and perfect for our family of 4.

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a Sunday and the cabin was clean, inviting, and offered all the comforts of home. The gameroom in the basement was so fun and led to a family tournament of air hockey and some intense games of foosball. We brought our dog and as a family we loved hiking the trails right off of our cabin. The girls enjoyed walking through the creek in their rain boots. There is a nice pond on the property with fire pit which we loved sitting by and making s'mores. We were close to many parks for hiking, gem mining, the town for grocery runs, and even went white water rafting our last day via Blue Heron Rafting company (they were awesome) which was about an hours drive. We ate out some and cooked in the cabin a few times. A few favorites nearby which were all dog friendly were Loise's Kitchen, the Trailhead, and Wicked Weed (Asheville). We cant wait to go back and know where we are staying.

Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you arrive, you know you've escaped the rat race and have found a slice of heaven. Perched overlooking your own private pond, this house is decorated beautifully and spotless. From the great fireplace and bubbling hot tub, to the fresh air and nature surrounding us on the fabulous deck, this house was a perfect choice The games in the basement, well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds made for a great stay. We will definitely return!

Cozy mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our extended getaway to Highrock Preserve. The cabin was nicely appointed and the kitchen had everything we needed to eat in when we chose to do our own cooking. It was clean, well maintained and plenty of room. Loved the hot tub and the rockers!! The owner was helpful and responded quickly to messages and questions. While the last bit of the journey is unpaved, we got used the drive really quickly and didn't think twice about going up and down the mountain. The property was beautiful and my husband enjoyed hiking and finding some beautiful mushrooms to identify. It was a great place to stay while we enjoyed visiting both Asheville and Black Mountain. We hope to come back again and try another of the Highrock properties, perhaps bringing a few more friends to share the experience. Thank you for a great place to stay!
