Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

This rustic and sophisticated cabin is nestled on a mountainside near the French Broad River. It is located on nine private acres secluded from the Partridge Hill main house where the owners live. Partridge Hill was once owned by the author Hamilton Basso who was a close friend of Thomas Wolfe. Wolfe and Basso spent many hours on Partridge Hill and would love the inviting ambience of the cabin known as The Partridge Nest. The cabin features two queen-sized bedrooms and two full baths with an additional sleeping area in the cozy writers loft. Amenities include a beautiful and well-stocked kitchen, dining area, wood-burning fireplace, and a full screened porch with a mountain view. The interior design is comfortable, inviting, and mountain inspired.

An ideal get-away spot, the cabin is secluded yet only four miles from Brevard where there are fine restaurants, the Brevard Music Center, Brevard College, and many great shops. The Pisgah National

Forest is just minutes away from your front door and offers some of the finest hiking, rock climbing, and fly fishing in the East. Majestic waterfalls are all around the area as well. The Brevard Music Center is renowned nationwide for it's summer musical presentations and it's students typically go on to major careers in music. Keith Lockhart is the artistic director and principal conductor.

You will forget time as you sit on the old-fashioned porch swing enjoying the mountain view or reading a book in the cozy loft. You will return to the real world rested, renewed and looking forward to your next visit to The Partridge Nest.

Cozy mountain cabin getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was my 6th trip to Brevard with my boyfriend and our first stay in this lovely rustic cabin! It was the perfect mountain weekend getaway within minutes of good eats and entertainment in Brevard! We will be back!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, and our son and daughter in law wanted a short getaway in the Brevard area. This cabin was a great find! The hosts are prompt and very welcoming! The cabin is immaculate and VERY well decorated, making you feel right at home. It had everything we needed for making ourselves comfortable and only a short ride from Brevard. All of the descriptions are accurate. We loved our comfortable, relaxing weekend and have already recommended the cabin to friends and family. We would definitely book it again and look forward to it!

Look no more!! You have just found the perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is 2nd time I've stayed in this amazing cabin. The first was with my husband and another couple during Christmas holidays in 2013. The second time was just last week. I stayed with 3 wonderful teacher friends that I've known for over 25 years. Both experiences at The Partridge Nest were excellent! Charlie and Jean pay close attention to the details so that you will enjoy your stay without worries. If you're like us, the only questions you will have are about the wonderful decor that the cabin offers. There's so much of Charlie and Jean's personality tucked inside that cabin that you will think of them as a good friend before your stay is over:) We loved the porch and spent every morning and evening there with our coffee. The ambiance of the cabin-inside and out-makes you feel so relaxed that your time will pass quickly and you'll be longing for just one more day!! I would recommend this cabin during any season as it is close to shopping, hiking, waterfalls, restaurants and more! The location is so easy to find yet tucked away so that it isn't even noticed from the road!! A stay at The Partridge Nest will only make you long to come back again very soon!!

Everything and more!

  • 5 of 5

I did my usual scouring of VRBO for the perfect, affordable, little mountain cabin for a 3 day get away with my husband and kids. Well, I hit the jackpot with this cabin. Nestled on the side of hill on the owner's main property of 9 acres, it is secluded but close to town. I got the stamp of approval from my family the minute we arrived at the doorstep! The owners had a welcome sign for our arrival and beautiful table arrangement for Valentine's Day. The cabin is so unique, rustic, cozy but with ALL the amenities! This couple has put much love into this cabin and it is absolutely charming. We immediately started a fire (plenty of firewood) and put on the Victrola and were tranported to a place of tranquility away from our normal daily distractions. And although the temperature was on the chilly side, we still visited and walked Dupont National Forest and went into town for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend it!

Cozy Charm - A Rustic Respite!

  • 5 of 5

Words are hard to procure to describe the warmth which oozes from this "nest" in the woods. The Partridge Nest exceeded our expectations in every regard! From the warm welcome on a personalized sign as we entered the walkway, to the sound of the vintage screen door as it closed behind us, to Starbucks coffee and other basic provisions left for our convenience, to books & magazines for our perusal at whim, to a most comfortable bed enveloping our weary bodies late evenings, to a porch with a snuggly swing complete with reader's swinglamp, furry blankets and soft pillows....get the picture? We indulged in 4 days & nights in this special hideaway. Next visit, we'll plan for less activity...to not have set foot outside the cabin (except for a stroll) would've been conducive to a complete escape beyond life's daily demands. The owners, Charlie & Jean were superb with communication and meeting our every need. They are fun-loving people who obviously enjoy sharing their little slice of rustic & woodsy heaven on earth! Talented and gifted for bringing their decor style to life while covering every last detail and then some....we cannot possibly say enough to endorse their hillside haven in the Partridge Nest cabin/cottage...you must experience it for yourself!

A great place

  • 5 of 5

We spent a night at the Partridge Nest before dropping our kid off for camp and wish we'd booked a longer visit. The cottage is amazingly comfortable and furnished with everything you would want for a relaxing stay. It's hard to do justice to how thoughtfully the cottage is decorated and furnished. The owner met us shortly after we arrived and was friendly and helpful. I give Partridge Nest five stars and wish six were possible.
