Hyannis, Cape Cod: Sunny Seaside Cottage-3 min. stroll to the beach !
Our quaint 1950's classic cottage, cozy and charming, was totally rebuilt as a classic Cape Cod Saltbox in 2017. On the edge of the ocean close to the Hyannis Yacht Club, it is ideal for 2 couples, a small family of 4, or singles. We rebuit the cottage to include a large loft in crisp, European style. It offers year-round amenities, WIFI, Smart TV, AC & heat. The sunny living/dining room features vintage antique and modern accents. Relax on the comfortable sofa that converts to a queen bed, or slip onto the loveseat to finish your favorite book. The corner desk is great for projects or checking email. The loft has a queen bed and bunk beds. The new bathroom is light and airy with a cathedral ceiling and skylight. The new galley kitchen has modern appliances and a stack washer/dryer. Note: there is no dishwasher. The lofty cathedral ceiling sports skylights with bright sun all day & a ceiling fan to keep the breezes flowing. The new sliding door extends the kitchen onto the sunny, private deck, with dining/deck furniture and gas grill.

Thank you for staying with us! The Cape has its own charm. We try to share that with our guests at our Classic Bungalow and Saltbox Cottage by providing a comfortable home base. Simple pleasures, close to the beach and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Main Street activities. Please come again!

That pretty much sums it up! Fall is a lovely time to visit as well, so bring your light jackets and set out to see the wildlife migration, amazing sunsets and the ocean and its deep colors as the season changes.
We welcome you all year round...
This cottage is perfect. It’s attractive, clean, comfy, well-appointed and just lovely. There’s a refreshing outdoor shower which we used every day. Anything we needed was there for our use in the cottage. It’s a few minutes walk to the beach and about a mile to Main St. for dining, shopping etc. so you really don’t need to drive at all if you don’t want to. We have no complaints at all about 29 Norris St. and would love to stay at Elaine and John’s place again in the future.
Perfect location, walk to the beach - quiet, private neighborhood, Property was well maintained with very friendly and accommodating owners!

It was a pleasure to host you at our Saltbox cottage. We endeavor to be mindful of guests' needs and are grateful to know what folks need if we forget anything. There's only so much beach time during the summer, so to come home at the end of the day and be comfortable is important! We welcome our future guests and hope they relax as well. Thank you!
A clean and beautifully kept cottage, in a quiet neighborhood—but close enough to downtown, the grocery store, coffee breaks and the beach! Excellent communication from the beginning of booking through checkout!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the 29 Norris St cottage with its airy, coastal design. The kitchen was small but very functional with all the cookware and appliances needed during our stay. The deck was lovely and we used the attached outdoor shower every day. The AC was a lifesaver in the 100 degree temps! The location was perfect for us. We enjoyed all parts of the Cape, from Falmouth to Wellfleet. The owners Elaine and John made everything about our stay easy and comfortable. The welcome gift was a lovely touch. We would definitely return again.
Small cottage suitable for couples

Charming towns dot the length of the area and offer fantastic views of the sea, historical sites and fun activities and fall festivals. Come join us!

A wonderful Cape cottage - perfect in every way
We were very lucky to stay in this newly renovated cottage for Memorial Day weekend. The conditions, amenities and hospitality of the owners were top notch. We would absolutely recommend this cottage if you are looking for a place to stay in the Hyannis area that is walking distance to a beach and a short drive from many more.

Little things make the difference and we hope our peaceful places have all the amenities you need. Presents are fun to give, too! Please join us on the Cape. Fall is a great season to watch migrating birds, changing leaves and a deep blue ocean.
Elaine and John were wonderful hosts! They were both there when we arrived and showed us a tour of the cottage. The cottage has everything you need to a fully stocked kitchen, extra towels and linens and even beach chairs! Place was extremely clean. Beach was 3 mins from cottage and about 15 minute walk into town! Would recommend staying here if you come to cape cod!

We are open year-round for more unique seasonal experiences. We look forward to hosting our future guests!
This gem was amazing. The pictures on VRBO did not begin to do justice to this delightful cottage. The interior and exterior were immaculate. The beach was, as advertised, a three to four minute walk. The owners were unbelievably welcoming and available. Just plain good people.

Off the Beaten Path, yet Close to It All, on Cape Cod
My wife and I spent the better part of last week at Saltbox Cottage in Hyannis. Though I was there for medical work, the cottage was as relaxing as if I were on vacation. The location is superb, tucked away on a small side street just steps from the beach and ocean. The decor and furnishings are top notch.
No detail to make one's stay excellent has been foregotten.
Saltbox Cottage is an wonderful romantic Cape stay for a couple, but could easily be a fun filled stay for a family.
We have rented other homes on the Cape; this is by far the best.

My family and I really enjoyed this cottage. Very cute and confortable. We loved the deck, had almost all our meals outside. Kitchen is a bit small but it works! Very handy to have washer/dryer.
The area is nice and quiet.
It’s a short walk to the beach but we didn’t love it so we drove to other beaches and paid parking…
Great communication with owners.
Thanks Elaine and John!

Thank you for staying with us! Our location provides for easy jaunts to the many surrounding beaches, so I'm glad you found some you liked. We hope all our guests are comfortable and discover more of the Cape while they are here.
We host guests all year round, so please consider us for quick getaways during the Fall. That is a wonderful time to experience New England. Happy Summer!
The house was just as advertised. Extremely cute on a quiet dead end street of similar houses. A 5 minute drive to downtown Hyannis and 5 minute walk to the beach. There isn’t any privacy since there is just a loft with sleeping quarters and no bedrooms but it worked out fine for us. The owner was very responsive via email and text with information and answers to questions. I recommend this adorable cottage for a stay on the Cape.

Thank you for staying with us at our Saltbox Cottage. Our total rebuild of the original 1950 cottage is a huge improvement, modern, efficient and comfortable for a couple or a small family of 4. Our location is perfect for seaside activities, shopping, dining and birding, especially during migration months. We hope all our guests enjoy our peaceful spot and return again. Elaine and John
Elaine and John's home is comfortable, clean, well appointed, and beautiful. The cottage is stocked with everything you need. It felt like home from the moment we walked in. My husband, 2 young children, and I eased right into our stay. It is a 5 minute (or less) walk to the beach making it easy to go back if you forget anything or if you have little ones that nap. The bunk beds were a big hit with our son. You cannot beat the location of this house, situated within a 5 minute drive to downtown, restaurants, and tons of stores. We loved everything about our stay here. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer! Elaine is lovely and was very quick to respond to all my emails. We will certainly be back to stay again!

We are glad that you enjoyed the Saltbox cottage. It is our little gem and we hope to host you again for an extended stay. Our dead end street is quiet and safe for children. Guests can take short or long walks on the beach or all the way out to Squaw Island. Sunsets are lovely all the time, but especially this time of year as the season changes. Take a break when you can, as we are open all year round. Each season has its beautiful qualities. If you write, paint, or photograph nature, this is the spot to visit. Happy Fall!
About the host
Hosted by Elaine R. Cwynar
As a retired chef/professor, I enjoy local seafood and taught culinary arts and Vegetarian cuisine for 32 years at a local university. My husband puts his software engineer expertise to work anywhere we go. Staying at the Cape gives us a mini-vacation whenever we spend time here. Our favorite walks and sunsets are right around the corner. We have the most fun going shellfishing and sharing nature's bounty with family and friends. The peace and quiet are refreshing and give us a great perspective on what is really important; family, friends, time together, device-free time, nature, great food and meeting our guests!
Why they chose this property
Our Saltbox cottage was my home for years. We rebuilt it from the ground up into a new Saltbox that is bright and cheery. As our family grew, we needed more room for our grandchildren and friends. Hence, we were lucky enough to purchase the bungalow next door which has been a favorite family reunion spot. Bring your family and enjoy being together with your own cottage or bungalow to return to in the evening for your own quiet time.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy the peace and quiet, long walks and easy access to activities like fishing, island visits to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket and Provincetown. Our outdoor shower is so refreshing and convenient, we use it far into the fall season as well. Our winter sojourns here are as comfortable and relaxed as summer, so we hope you consider coming during off-season as well for a well-deserved break or to enjoy the holidays.
