About this property
Hyannis, Cape Cod: Sunny Seaside Cottage-3 min. stroll to the beach !
Our quaint 1950's classic cottage, cozy and charming, was totally rebuilt as a classic Cape Cod Saltbox in 2017. On the edge of the ocean close to the Hyannis Yacht Club, it is ideal for 2 couples, a small family of 4, or singles. We rebuit the cottage to include a large loft in crisp, European style. It offers year-round amenities, WIFI, Smart TV, AC & heat. The sunny living/dining room features vintage antique and modern accents. Relax on the comfortable sofa that converts to a queen bed, or slip onto the loveseat to finish your favorite book. The corner desk is great for projects or checking email. The loft has a queen bed and bunk beds. The new bathroom is light and airy with a cathedral ceiling and skylight. The new galley kitchen has modern appliances and a stack washer/dryer. Note: there is no dishwasher. The lofty cathedral ceiling sports skylights with bright sun all day & a ceiling fan to keep the breezes flowing. The new sliding door extends the kitchen onto the sunny, private deck, with dining/deck furniture and gas grill.
Summer:
Marine and Airborne Activities: As you drive over the Sagamore or Bourne Bridge, plan some time to ride bikes and picnic along the Cape Cod Canal. Whale Watch excursions from Barnstable Harbor or Provincetown will take you to Stellwagen Banks and Seal Cruises are available in Chatham to Monomoy Island. There are over 35 beaches to explore if you care to drive outside of Hyannis. There are 10 lighthouses to visit that span the 90 miles of Cape Cod with panoramic views and amazing history. Hyannis Harbor Cruises and Fishing excursions leave from the Ocean Street Dock along with the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The Hyannis Yacht Club hosts the famous annual Figawi Race.
Parasailing, sail/motor boat, jet ski and kayak rentals fit everyone's ability and sense of adventure.
Skydive, take a glider or biplane ride at the Cape Cod Airfield only 6 miles from Hyannis. Or, fly a designer kite on the sea breezes.
Rainy Day Fun: Some ideas for rainy or cooler days...The John .F. Kennedy Museum in downtown Hyannis reveals how JFK, Jackie, John and Caroline spent their days on Cape Cod. The JFK Monument at Veteran's Beach is a short walk from cottage toward the Ocean Street Docks. The Cape Cod Maritime Museum near Aselton Park and the Ocean Street Docks offers interactive exhibits, classes on boat building, maritime archaeology and model making. Kids will love the ZooQuarium in West Yarmouth with local creatures and a chance to touch and feed farm animals. The Cape Cod Children's Museum in Mashpee teaches children and adults how to play and learn. See the works of historic and current Cape artists at the Cape Cod Art Museum in Dennis. The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will immerse you in Cape habitat. The Heritage Museums and Gardens with the J.K.Lilly Automobile Collection, world famous rhododendrons and spring bulbs, and antique carved carousel and folk will keep the whole family entertained.
Fall Relaxation:
Guests will enjoy a less hectic pace, brilliant foliage, birds migrating south, cool breezes and sunny days. Businesses and restaurants remain open and bustling with great offerings. Shop for the holidays, or spend them on the Cape in both our cottage and bungalow for a getaway trip.

About the host
Hosted by Elaine R. Cwynar
As a retired chef/professor, I enjoy local seafood and taught culinary arts and Vegetarian cuisine for 32 years at a local university. My husband puts his software engineer expertise to work anywhere we go. Staying at the Cape gives us a mini-vacation whenever we spend time here. Our favorite walks and sunsets are right around the corner. We have the most fun going shellfishing and sharing nature's bounty with family and friends. The peace and quiet are refreshing and give us a great perspective on what is really important; family, friends, time together, device-free time, nature, great food and meeting our guests!
Why they chose this property
Our Saltbox cottage was my home for years. We rebuilt it from the ground up into a new Saltbox that is bright and cheery. As our family grew, we needed more room for our grandchildren and friends. Hence, we were lucky enough to purchase the bungalow next door which has been a favorite family reunion spot. Bring your family and enjoy being together with your own cottage or bungalow to return to in the evening for your own quiet time.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy the peace and quiet, long walks and easy access to activities like fishing, island visits to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket and Provincetown. Our outdoor shower is so refreshing and convenient, we use it far into the fall season as well. Our winter sojourns here are as comfortable and relaxed as summer, so we hope you consider coming during off-season as well for a well-deserved break or to enjoy the holidays.
