About Jiletta and Randy MacPherson

Randy and I just married "45 years late" in August 2014 at Tunnels Beach in beautiful Kauai surrounded by our keikes (children). Our first and only date was at age 16 in high school when he took me out on his small motorcycle for a quick ride. I confessed 40 years later that I always had a crush on him and he claims the same.....now! We both raised five wonderful children between us and were happily married for over 60 years total. I went to ASU and received an Interior Design Degree, had my own business, taught Jazzercise in the early 80s and sell Real Estate to present with Realty Executives in Scottsdale, AZ. Randy has been in the Aerospace Industry for over 35 years, got his PHD from University of Missouri-Columbia and currently is in Management for the Boeing Company for the past 19 years. We hope to retire soon and enjoy our visiting 'ohana (family and friends). A gracious Aloha to all of those who have stayed at Hale Bali Hai through out the years and helping to make it a success!

Jiletta and Randy MacPherson purchased this house in 1999

Why Jiletta and Randy MacPherson chose North Shore

For Hawaiian people, ho'okipa (hospitality) is a way of life. You call out to strangers to come in and rest, eat and drink before continuing their journey of life. That is the Hawaiian way, that is the custom, that is the spirit of Aloha. I purchased this home in 1999 and was first impressed that it was owned previously by Stonestreet Jackson, the son of Kendall Jackson Wineries but what I came to realize is that Hale Bali Hai is more than the people who have called it home. In the Hawaiian culture no matter what you have... you alway offer to share.....and this home was waiting to share it's Aloha Spirit with all who rest here now. Hale Bali Hai helps to tap into the Mana (spiritual energy) with your family and friends. We are reminded here that life is simple... you just need to stop and remember what is most important....how to love...to heal...to breath.

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with Hale Bali Hai the minute I walked thru the front door! The view was breathtaking with the blue ocean, the green golf course and the picturesque Bali Hai from the movie "South Pacific" framed thru the window and top it off with summer sunsets from the lanai! We love watching the golfers taking their photos at the "most photographed" 7th Hole of the Ocean Nine. The home has such an Open Floor Plan with each room opening into another - you always feel connected with others yet there are plenty of private areas to escape to. Punahele Road is a very exclusive neighborhood and I've been told by locals that it's one of the most beautiful streets on island - from high-end rental homes to private 1st and 2nd homes. The best part is the closeness of Queens Bath just across the street! You can take in a great hike past the water fall or just a good work-out swimming in the lava rock pool during the summer months. Every window has some sort of beautiful view out of it and the bottom louvers open so you can hear the birds in the morning singing from the mature tropical foliage that surrounds the property. Just step outside after a rain to see if we can catch sight of a rainbow or stand at the kitchen sink and see the waterfall in the distant mountains after the rains. We love watching spectacular sunsets with vibrant colors setting over the ocean from the upper covered Lanai in the summer months. You can even take a lava rock shower outdoors! We love the ultimate privacy of the home tucked back amongst the trees because it sounds like a rain forest when it rains. Or just relax in the 20 ft high Jacuzzi Spa in the evening and count the stars in the sky. Nothing better than lying in a hammock, picking a blossom from the Plumeria Tree, pick fresh limes from the backyard Lime Tree, discovered the apple/bananas on the Banana Tree or wish for a coconut to fall from the Coconut Tree in front!

Dreams really do come true!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We don't know the Ryans personally but we do know that they are people of excellent taste. Their beautiful home and location was very special. We had a marvelous time on Kauai made better by staying in this beautiful home. We hope to make it an annual event.

WOW! Amazing property, breathtaking views...!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect location for our group of 8 family members including 5 adults and 3 twenty somethings.

The home itself is beautiful with everything fully functional. Lots of space for people to enjoy some privacy but also great areas to come together as a group both inside and out. Our hosts were easily accessible, helpful and friendly.

Easy access and discounted rates at Makai Golf Course which is incredible! If you love golf, this is a must play course! Hanalei Bay, Hidden Beach, the St Regis for cocktails and the beach, The Dolphin for dinner in Hanalei..... and Ke'e Beach for the most spectacular views at sunset (be sure to walk along the beach to get the Na Pali coastline perspective). Captain Andy's for a sunset dinner cruise and the Na Pali Riders during the day for a zodiac tour- the whales were all around us!

We love Kauai and we absolutely loved our home at Hali Bali Hai. I would highly recommend this property.

Great location and fabulous home that compliments the "Laid Back " experience that Kauai promises !

Can't even begin to describe this magnificent property. My wife and I celebrated our 33 anniversary and included our two sons (27 & 30) and their girlfriends. The home had some recent remodeling work completed including an amazing second floor covered patio with picturesque views of the resort golf course, shoreline mountains and Ocean. Fully equipped Gourmet Kitchen with numerous cozy entertaining area's. Plenty of spaces to be private or group friendly. Master bedroom and Bath on separate level with lower level bedrooms and baths plus large lower level bonus/family room.

Located on the North Shore close to Hanalei (Must Visit) and several private beaches. Hiking, kayaking, golf, snorkeling,

surfing, and mainly relaxing are the key attractions all close by.

Bicycles, beach chairs, snorkeling gear, floats all at this home for use. Resort neighborhood and short walk to Queens Wreath. Hot tub was still being installed on the new patio and a little disappointed it wasn't ready yet but really didn't matter with all the other enjoyable accommodations.

Without a doubt would highly recommend and will certainly re-book soon.

A great home base for exploring all of Kauai in a setting that is elegant yet comfortable.

Two couples, ages 63ish, stayed for 10 days on the beautiful Garden Island. There's abundant room in this nicely-decorated home to gather together or slip away by yourself and read a good book. The large lanai was truly the perfect setting, at any time of day. The morning sun casts great shadows on the mountains; the evening sunsets are grand. We experienced the "super moon" at it's best. Our "birder" in the group added 16 life birds on this trip, several spotted just from the lanai. It took a day or so to adjust to the crowing roosters, but we came to enjoy them. A nicely-furnished kitchen and lots of little extras, such as CDs, DVD movies, and beach chairs, were appreciated. We picked up breakfast/lunch/necessities at Foodland, but chose to dine out most evenings. Best times: helicopter tour; zip-lining; hiking with a picnic; Waimea Canyon; Kilauea Light; Hanalei for the farmer's market, the Dolphin Restaurant, and the pier to watch surfers; challenging and scenic golf. (When not golfing, the practice range was still available and affordable for the avid golfer in our foursome.) Rough surf unfortunately limited our beach/snorkeling adventures. Those same big waves, though, made Queen's Bath quite a sight to see. Glad to have done the Smith Garden/Boat Trip/ Luau, but happy to remove this dining and theater "togetherness with 450 other tourists" experience from my to-do list. Unusuals: Tasty "take-out" choices and cute earrings/sunglasses from the Princeville gas station. Hideaways Pizza is a nice walk away. Bakery and Bistro at Kilauea proved to be a good option for us. Left undone: kayaking and paddle boarding on the Hanalei River. We didn't try out the outdoor shower. Bottom line: Hale Bali Hai was a terrific "home away from home" for us located in a great spot on the more rural, laid-back North Shore of Kauai. It worked well for just the four of us, but it would be a nice space for a larger gathering of family or friends. The owners were responsive, and seemed quite happy to share the energy of this home with others. Even though it takes a day of travel to and a day of travel from, this "east coast mainland group" would be happy to repeat our 10 days at Hale Bali Hai.

Definitely an A+ Experience!

Our whole family of nine, including three generations, stayed at this wonderful home for a week in the summer of 2014 to celebrate my 70th birthday! We truly loved our week there! The home is beautiful, very clean, with gorgeous Hawaiian décor. It is so roomy that we had luxurious space to cook, to dine, to play, to have privacy. The view of Hanalei Bay and the sunsets are fabulous! We sat out on the deck at night watching the stars. We enjoyed the many beach toys available to us. It was terrific that gorgeous Queen's Bath is across the street; we also walked to the beach at St. Regis, to Hideaways Beach, and to the children's playground (we are a family who likes to walk, plus parking can be an issue.) We occasionally enjoyed the games and the video library provided, but mostly we explored as many of the gorgeous beaches in North Kauai as we could, for snorkeling, sand castle building, stand up paddle boarding, long walks, and family fun. A highlight for us all was swimming with friendly turtles and gorgeously colored fish! We never ate out, except to attend fabulous Smith's Luau, as the kitchen and dining situation there are so inviting (We take turns cooking). We enjoyed the lush topical plants surrounding the house and the cool breezes blowing through. Jilletta was a sweetheart, attending quickly to our every need. She gave us great advice on beaches to experience and places to go. We would be thrilled to return to stay here again, and we highly recommend this beautiful, comfortable home. Thank you, Jilletta!

Million Dollar View !

  • 5 of 5

Hello, we just returned from a two week stay at this home. First off my wife and I are former residents of the Princeville community. When we searched for a place to bring our siblings out for there first visit to the island our demands were somewhat steep. Very few homes have the view that this one has. It's also located in a very nice section of Princeville.

The home was beautiful, warm, spacious, all the accommodations anyone would want. The large living , dinning , kitchen area is perfect for any group. Most of our time was spent just enjoying just that......

You are surrounded by very nice tropical plants and the privacy is great. The carport is a perfect arrangement should you get some of the really pretty rains that come and go on Kauai.

I could go on and on, we would come back here without any hesitation whatsoever........ and the owners were also so eager to work with us on our needs with scheduling we can't say enough.

John, Carol and family....

Hawaii Paradise

Thank you for your home with every need provided; this was a 60th Birthday everyone should be Blessed to celebrate!!! The view was incredible, morning, noon and night so comfortable that there were even some of us who spent a day just enjoying this beautiful home ! Location is perfect for the North shore activities. The lava shower is a perfect addition to this home for showers outdoors . The jacuzzi was perfect for those evenings with drinks after long days in the sun and activities. We loved having coffee and breakfasts in the kitchen and out on the lanai's. House was very comfortable with 8 people lots of room and places for privacy also. I have recommended and showed your home to many !
