About Laura & Harrison Summer

We love our Seabrook Island Retreat and love to share and make memories with our friends and guests! We cherish the low country and visit often through weekend trips and summer vacations with family and friends. The beaches of South Carolina and the Charleston area are especially significant to us because we both graduated from the College of Charleston. Our college tradition continues with our daughter (Hannah) who is a Senior at CofC AND our son Wade is a Freshman! We adore the charm and grace of old historic Charleston and spent many hours wandering the alleys and streets, enjoying the night life, and admiring the architecture. We enjoy coming down to Seabrook Island every chance we get!

Why Laura & Harrison Summer chose Tarpon Pond

Seabrook is a private gated island community. Every effort has been taken to preserve the natural beauty of this low country paradise. We enjoy the centuries old live oaks, the vast salt marsh vistas, and the pristine beaches. Deer, raccoons, foxes, and bobcats are sighted daily here.

What makes this house unique

Seabrook is a wonderful escape. Our cottage is a great place to relax after spending time at the beach or visiting the historical Charleston sights nearby. Spring is our favorite time of year in Charleston. It is also the time of year that many of the homes and gardens in the 'South of Broad' district are open to the public. It is surprising what you'll find while wandering the small side streets between East Bay, Meeting, and King streets. We love the secret gardens and unique architecture of the downtown area. The self paced walking tours with guides that can be purchased from the Borders bookstore on Meeting St are a great way to get to know the history of Charleston. Just find a place to park your car and you can explore for hours. At the end of the day, we eat dinner at one of the many delightful restaurants near the old market. If we wish to escape the downtown crowd, we head back toward the cottage and stop by the Mustard Seed or Athens both on Maybank Hwy on James Island. Or cross over the bridge onto John's Island and eat at The Fat Hen or the Wild Olive!!! This could be the best food local food you will ever eat in South Carolina.

A Family Favorite

  • 5 of 5

We recently made our third trip to Tarpon Pond, and it never disappoints. Our four children love the bunk room upstairs, while we love having a beautiful, serene place to return to after a day at the beach or time in Charleston. The Summers are such a pleasure to work with and seem to make every effort to ensure our trip to their home is enjoyable. We look forward to returning for many years to come!

Relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable low country discovery

  • 5 of 5

From the hundred of year old trees lining the street greeting visitors at the entrance, to the serene moment sipping morning hot chocolate on the screen porch, our trip was filled with peace and relaxation. This home had everything we needed to fully enjoy our vacation experience stress-free. The property was well maintained, fully stocked (kitchen and other supplies) and clean. Puzzles, board games, dvd’s, bicycles - so no need to bring entertainment.

Short drive to the beach. During our stay, we saw at least 6 dolphins about 100 feet away from the shoreline, a yellow crab, 4 brown deer and even a brown and white deer. Freshfields is close to pick up food supplies as well as any shopping or dining. Over our stay the square hosted “Dogtoberfest” full of dog friendly activities; wine tasting, home goods booths and even a dog costume contest.

All went smoothly and we highly recommend and will return.
