About this property

Beachfront House, dog friendly, on quiet private beach, piano, wood stove, wifi

A private and quiet single story much loved beach house, right on the water, brand new carpets. Comfortable beds and linens. Lovely water views, walk on the beach!

2 bedrooms with 3 queen beds, located directly on the water on Holmes Harbor next to Freeland Park, Whidbey Island, with a vivid and relaxing water view and 40 feet of no bank waterfront. One bathroom, one master bedroom with a queen bed and window and another bedroom with two large picture windows and two queen beds. Closet space and sunlight in both bedrooms. A fresh sea breeze seaside feeling pervades the whole house.

We’ve been renting the beach house out to friends and neighbors for 15 years and have lots of return customers, with over 300 positive reviews on VRBO and another popular website. Lovely gardens surround the house in this quiet residential neighborhood, walking distance from groceries and shops. This is a family friendly beach rental; decor is casual cozy and homey, reflecting a traditional family beach house.

2 hours north of Seattle; by ferry, 15 minutes from the Clinton Whidbey Island ferry. Rates vary seasonally and with holidays, please check listing. Peaceful and quaint classic “Baby Beach” Whidbey getaway.

2 bedrooms with 3 queen beds; one master bedroom with one queen bed, and second bedroom with two queen beds. One full bathroom with soaking bathtub, sink, shower, toilet. Single story separate house all to yourself. Living room, full kitchen, and dining area with water views from two large oak tables. Neighboring houses are often empty, discreet, quiet, and non intrusive.

We appreciate communication around your arrival and departure times as it helps us with cleaning and making the place spotless for your arrival. Check in is 3 pm and check out is 11 am.

Baby high chair, toys, piano, fan, and air purifiers included. We have DVD viewing available with tons of fun old school DVDs to choose from, watch on a large flat screen TV, yet no cable or satellite TV service for a “island getaway" feel. You can watch movies on the DVD player or stream internet with a cable attached to your device on the large screen.

We have Sonos speakers- download the app and stream your music from your device. Our CD music collection can be played on the boom box or on the DVD player through the TV speakers.

For sports events on TV, stream on your device on internet or visit one of the many local sports pubs such as China City, Village Pizzeria, Prima Bistro, Taproom, or Wifire which show games.

Eagles soar overhead while you cozy up to the wood burning stove on our comfy sectional couch with a grand view of the water. Clamming, fishing, whale watching are all nearby. We call it Baby Beach since it is the perfect place for kids and dogs to play safely, and has a quiet innocence and old Whidbey charm. Two large oak tables at the picture windows afford a lovely water view of the harbor while you do puzzles, socialize, make art, read, or work on your laptop.

The deck is the ideal place to read, talk, and relax on our lawn furniture as you view passing wildlife: deer, rabbits, seals, eagles, hummingbirds, and sea otters regularly grace our shores. Watch them from our comfortable couch next to the wood stove with a piano, books, videos and music to share, plus a fully stocked kitchen.

Coffee makers (automatic drip, cone, french press and stove top espresso maker), toaster, microwave, glassware, ceramic dishes, table cloths, place mats, utensils, sandwich grill, waffle maker, and we have a blender. Ice trays in the freezer, oil, salt, pepper, spices all provided. Both propane Gas grill and charcoal grill provided.. or toast marshmallows in the wood fire pit in the garden… Sip coffee on the porch overlooking the water. Firewood available.

Freeland "downtown" is a 10 minute walk away - Payless grocery store with fabulous deli, organic foods, and bakery... antique shops, restaurants, bars, and bookstores nearby, and a public park with playground and a boat dock, plus famous Double Bluff beach (off leash for dogs!) is 5 minutes away. Ours is a quiet private street on the water. The Goose Grocery in Bayview, Clinton Food Mart, and Star Store Langley are all a 5-10 minute drive away. Earth Sanctuary and Fare Market are all close by.

A recent review gives a great feel for our details:
" I have been a vacation house visitor for about 25 years and this beautiful Whidbey island home is BY FAR the most enchanting and rejuvenating place I've ever been. So many details are attended to which makes the house seem warm and 'lived-in' and lends to the immediate feeling upon arriving that you have just come home. After unpacking and finding a comfortable place to sit, breathe and take in the view of the harbor, I could feel the stress drain from my body and mind. We only had 2 nights to be in that serene environment but it had such an impact on all of us that it felt more like a week...now THAT'S getting your money's worth! The home is walking distance (10 minutes) to thrift & antique stores, as well as the grocery store that has an amazing organic section and some of the most lovely seafood you will find in a tiny town, anywhere. We grilled some Copper River salmon and veggies one evening on the bbq provided (bring your favorite charcoal!) and we couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces the entire meal. We also walked up to one of the local restaurants for lunch and had a couple good sandwiches and salads but I would definitely recommend buying food and spending as much time at the beach house as possible because it's much more affordable than eating in town and you really won't want to be anywhere else for long during your stay. Definitely set out on a stroll at low tide so you can take in all of the gorgeous rocks & shells that adorn this quiet little beach. The morning sunlight is best and the water is calm because there's not much wind, which can kick up quite a bit off the harbor in the evening time so be sure to bring warm clothes if you're planning an outdoor fire. Although, if you've got a toasty fire going in the wood stove, the sound of the wind and the waves is truly a deeply calming experience not to be missed. The photos on the VRBO website are entirely accurate although the modest listing description left us delightfully surprised by all this wonderful beach home had to offer. If you've missed your opportunity to book your time away here this year, I HIGHLY recommend booking now for next year so that you can have the pleasure of staying at one of the most enjoyable vacation stays you'll ever find.'

15 minutes drive from the Clinton ferry to Seattle. Easy parking in our driveway. Key access and address will be sent to you three days before check in. Please be aware that all water sports, including swimming, wading, and all beach and water activities are at your own risk. Water conditions on any body of water, including this harbor, can change rapidly, especially in winter months. Even if the water appears calm, be aware that winds can alter and currents and tides can change. Please consult Whidbey tide charts and weather apps before any outdoor activities, and children should always be supervised. Safety First!

Hope to stay again!
We had a wonderful long weekend at the beach house. So comfortable and stocked with everything we needed. We stayed cozy with the wood stove (with an ample supply of seasoned firewood...thank you) and an amazing view down the bay. Enjoyed our beach walks and close proximity to the neighborhood park. Great location, close to groceries & restaurants in Freeland, and just a short drive to Double Bluff, Bayview and Langley. Great communication with our host, Jess. Hope we get to return in warmer weather & get some kayaking time on the tranquil water. Thank you for sharing your beach house with us!

Amazing getaway in middle of winter
Jess' place is so great, very homey, can't wait to come back in summer/fall season to experience the inviting fire pit and SUP. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, spice and appliance wise, as well as accessories. Jess is great at communicating and super prompt to take care of anything that comes up. I highly recommend this place for families, plenty of rooms and beds to spread out in. Also, if you have a toddler/baby, great house. Has a lot of entertainment for kids and some kids books and toys. Overall, highly recommended and we will be back :)

Lovely Little House!
This house is a great location, right on the water and pet friendly! We walked our dog around the neighborhood a few times and she loved it. The location was really great and central, just a few blocks from the grocery store and coffee shops. The owners were great at communicating everything for check-in and provided everything we would need for the stay, including plenty of towels, blankets, and space heaters in every room, which was a nice touch for the winter month. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Christmas 🎄 place.
Jess, the owner was wonderful! Her first message to us that we could check in as early as we wanted and check out Anytime. What a wonderful Christmas present to us . Thank you Jess! The house was warm( wood stove) quiet and the most beautiful view. A nice beach in front where you could walk all the way to the park if the tide was low enough.the bed was absolutely the most comfy bed I have ever slept in. The kitchen fully stocked . Everything was perfect and hopefully we will be back!! Thank you Jess for a wonderful Christmas in your home!! Sammie, David and Williwaw!”

The Perfect, Simple Getaway
This charming home is located right on the water, with the sounds of the waves capturing our hearts right away. There was plenty of space for the family and enough extras, like the piano, games and puzzles, to make it easy to cozy up on the comfy couch or sit on the back deck watching the wildlife and waves. We will definitely be coming back!

A wonderful getaway
We had such a relaxing stay on Baby Beach :) It was perfect for me, my husband and our toddler with loads of family friendly activities around the island, but also just the right amount of space in the home. The views were spectacular and the home had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We especially loved the fireplace and the kayaks, as well as the park for our little one that was in walking distance! Will definitely be back!

Peace on the water with birds, deer and blossoms
We loved sitting at the table and looking right out at the beach as water ebbed and flowed. Birds, long legged birds, large winged birds patrolled the area. We did not miss television, busy schedules and the so many things one does on a daily basis. I must ask what the little critters were on the beach that ran and hid as soon as one lifted their shelter rock. They were black with many legs and maybe little claws...not sure. We ran also. The flowers on your property were lush. We were close to the wonderful grocery store where ( I kid you not) every item was as artistically displayed as I have ever seen at a grocery store. All in all, we rested, reflected and let the world of worry wither away from our minds. The four days went so quickly......then we went to Seattle.....The island and cottage were wonderful compared to the noise of sirens that never let up.

A little bit of heaven.
This is the fourth time that I have stayed in this wonderful little old house. It has become like an old friend that I look forward to seeing every year. The beds are comfortable, the house is clean and well stocked, and deer walk through your back yard while you are sitting at the kitchen table! All this and you are only a few minutes' walk from one of the best grocery stores on the island. This year I came in May, visited beautiful Meekerk Gardens to see the rhododendrons in bloom, and spent a lot of time exploring some of the many beaches (like the one directly outside the back door) with my dog. Coming back to this quiet house is the perfect end to any day.

Oceanside bliss
My friend and I had a wonderful visit to Freeland. This house couldn’t have been closer to the beach. Whether sitting on the deck or down on the lawn, the waves and hearing them breaking was mesmerizing. The house had everything we needed. My friend uses a walker and the lawn was long so we asked Jess if it could be mowed and they were out within two hours. We were thrilled with how quickly they responded. Highly recommend this house for a vacation.

This was such an amazing and special spot. The view itself it worth it. The house is a cute beach house, that is within walking distance to multiple restaurants, grocery story, park, etc... Jess made me feel right at home and was easy to get a hold of if I needed something. She gave me great recommendations for places to eat and visit. The house was clean and welcoming. Baby Beach is the best.
This is our third stay at Baby Beach and we plan to come again when time permits. The location is wonderful; right on the beach. You won't find a better view anywhere. If you want luxury this may not be the place for you. But if you want quiet, serenity, and to get back to nature, you can't beat it. My dog loves it too.

So cute and charming
The reviews are correct. This place is quaint and charming. We loved everything about it. We had everything we needed and more. The kids had a blast collecting shells and playing in the water. The beds were comfy and the whole experience was very relaxing. The view was gorgeous. We had a lot of fun on the kayaks. They provided life jackets. My kids loved picking cherries from the tree in front and watching the deer. Be sure to educate yourself on the ferry system. The Clinton ferry’s morning runs were cancelled so that interrupted our plans to drive into Olympic NP. This is, of course , no fault of the cottage owner☺️ It’s just something to be aware of. Overall a great experience!

Hidden Gem
Hazen Shores was a delight for my extended stay this spring. The cottage is steps from the dog-friendly beach and a short walking distance to the nearby Freeland Park with playground and picnic tables. The house itself is amply stocked, from kitchen pantry to linens, you can park yourself here and never leave . it's walking distance to fine restaurants, wineries and much more. Hazen Shores is tucked so close to the beach it may be interesting to find if the grass has overgrown the directional sign! i loved meeting the super friendly neighbors, who may inspire you with their clamming and if you're lucky, will invite you to enjoy the results of their digging! Jessica herself is warm and welcoming and quick to respond. My stay there will remain ever foremost in my mind as the perfect intro to Whidbey Island living

peaceful escape
We wanted to change our telework/remote learning environment from Seattle to the beach for a change. Wow, what a treat! Our family stayed for a week while staying connected to work and school. Can you stay productive with Bald Eagles soaring and River Otters playing in view of your 'office' window? Yes!! The relaxing atmosphere was just what we needed, but having the beach at our back door was the gem of our stay. Our standard poodle fetched many sticks and loved to swim in the calm waters. From the house, we hiked the beach through Freeland Park and up the hill for great views. Evenings we spent snuggled on the couch, reading with wood burning fire or we worked on our puzzle. The upright piano was a great surprise, we played songs and learned a new tune. Jess and Simon were the best hosts and they have a wonderful home. This is the house we would have if it was our beach house. Everything felt like home. Thank you and we'll look forward to our next visit.
