About Marta Neely

I discovered this wonderful house when I needed to retreat from life in the fast lane. Walking by the lake, hiking on the trails, and watching the morning come while drinking coffee on the deck filled me with joy and renewed my spirit. When I needed to return to city life, I just couldn't sell my dream home -- one day, I'll move back for good. I always enjoyed sharing my home with friends and neighbors, so making it a vacation cabin has been a pleasure.

Marta Neely purchased this chalet in 2005

Why Marta Neely chose Big Bear Lake

I had no intention of buying a cabin the day I came up to look at a few properties 'just for the heck of it.' This cabin was the first one I saw -- when we arrived at the next property, I told the realtor, 'Stop! I want that one I just looked at!' The amazing views and the inviting rustic interior were exactly what I wanted, even though I didn't know it until I walked through the front door and saw the mountain views through the windows!

What makes this chalet unique

Luxury and comfort combined with rustic charm make this a wonderful place to enjoy life, but the magnificent views from huge decks are what truly makes this chalet unique!

The owner was amazing to deal with. She made sure everything was perfect for us. We went here for a snowboarding trip. The hot tub was awesome to have. We would definitely return.

Spacious and Cozy!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay at the Blue Spruce Chalet! My friends and I enjoyed relaxing out on the deck and using the jacuzzi at night. The foosball table was a hit as well. The owner, Marta, was super easy to work with and made us feel very welcome. I definitely recommend this place!

When we first arrived the place was very welcoming and clean. It has the perfect mountain cabin feel to it with an amazing view bothski resort. The owner was very accommodating when It came to any request that I had made. We had a slight issue with the hot tub but she made every effort to resolve it and guarantee us an easy and stress free weekend. We very much enjoyed ourselves.

Owner's Response: I'm so happy you enjoyed staying at Blue Spruce Chalet. As you mentioned, the views are awesome and the cabin makes you feel like it's your own home in the mountains! Since this was my own home for five years, I know how cozy it is -- just "rustic" enough to experience the mountains, yet modern enough to be comfortable. And when it comes to keeping my cabin in perfect condition, I am committed to providing the most professional spa service, maintenance, and housekeeping staff, and I am always available if you have any questions or needs.

Big Bear Lake
Car: necessary

Blue Spruce Chalet is 5-10 minutes away from all of the exciting recreational opportunities on the mountain!! Go for the gusto -- zip lining over the spectacular valleys near California's highest peak! Big Bear Lake has wonderful hiking trails -- you can even connect with the famous Pacific Crest Trail. The lake is a gorgeous site throughout the year. In the summer, go power boating, jet skiing, sailing, or even parasailing! Walk or bike for miles along the lake on a paved path -- those with binoculars might see eagles! The Discovery Center is a great place to learn about the area's native plants and wildlife. Get close to Grizzly and black bears, cougars, bobcats, wolves, and many other animals at the must-see Big Bear (Rescue) Zoo -- one of the top alpine zoos in the world! Stargazers will be thrilled with the billions of stars visible in the night sky! When summer changes to fall, enjoy the bright colors of changing leaves. The invigorating cool, crisp air is ideal for hiking, biking, and brisk walks along the lake. In wintertime, bundle up for downhill/ cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and sledding/ tubing down the breathtaking Alpine Slide! Bring the kids for the outdoor experience of a lifetime! Don't miss the excitement in the downtown Village -- take a ride in a horse drawn carriage, drink hot chocolate as the huge Christmas tree lights up, and visit shops and restaurants filled with Christmas cheer! Alas, when winter ends, spring awakens with bursting blooms and chirping birds. Dust off the hiking boots, unpack the golf clubs and fishing gear, and don't forget the kites and Frisbee -- cool, breezy days and fresh mountain air will lift your spirits as a glorious new season arrives in Southern California's alpine paradise -- sunny Big Bear Lake!
