About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Daybed, Trundle, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Nestled among the redwoods of Cazadero, Creekside Cottage is located in the oasis of Elim Grove, on the grounds of the award-winning Raymond's Bakery – the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Sonoma County.

We enjoy providing a warm, appetizing atmosphere in this undiscovered woodland paradise along tranquil Austin Creek, only 20 minutes from Guerneville, Russian River wineries, or the Pacific Ocean.

Creekside Cottage sleeps 2 in an crisp, light wood interior with stylish furnishings and a queen bed. It also features a cozy sitting room as well as a small garden view room with a daybed (with trundle), a propane wood stove, a microwave & fridge, and a private bathroom with shower.

The cottage is only a stone's throw from Austin Creek and a few minute walk up the creek to a swimming hole. Wake up to the bubbling of the creek, take a plunge, enjoy strolls along nearby trails, play bocce, relax under the gazebo and nap in the garden room or under the Gravenstein apple tree. Share a romantic evening in front of the propane wood stove or by the campfire.

Please note that Creekside Cottage can sleep up to 4 people including the twin daybed with lower trundle. There is a per night charge for each additional person beyond double occupancy. Children 4 and under are free.

For larger groups of up to 17 persons, book Elim Grove Cottage together with Gravenstein Cottage, Paradise Grove Cottage, Creekside Cottage and Baker's Loft - all located on the grounds near the bakery.

'We stayed a few nights with Mark and Elizabeth, and all I can say is they are the best hosts ever. . .Our daughter loved the little playground next to the bakery, it was also a plus that Mark offered a stroller which we forgot at home. Every morning a hot breakfast was provided and it was delicious!'

About Mark Weiss

Nine years ago my wife and I fell in love with an abandoned restaurant with four tired cottages on three acres of wild blackberries and old growth redwoods on Austin Creek. It has been an exhausting/exhilarating labor of love that has enriched our lives in more ways than we ever imagined. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have!

Mark Weiss purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Mark Weiss chose Sonoma County

Come stay with us and benefit from the tranquility and beauty of Austin Creek with majestic Old Growth redwoods towering above. Relax and unwind in our little corner of paradise.

Our Cottages are located on the grounds of award-winning Raymond’s Bakery. While you are here, you are welcome to enjoy an afternoon in the garden, take a stroll along Austin Creek, play bocce, relax under the gazebo or nap under the Gravenstein apple tree. In the evenings you can unwind by the campfire.

What makes this cottage unique

We own and are the bakers at Raymond's Bakery Bed & Breakfast just a three minute walk around the redwoods. So be ready for some gold-medal baked goodies to welcome you to our corner of paradise. We can also share the secrets of a few swimming holes and where to find the best skipping stones. The cottage is directly across from the creek. You can hear the babbling from the bedroom windows as you fall asleep.

Home away from home!!

  • 5 of 5

What would have been a disastrous vacation due to weather condition became a wonderful getaway for my family including our 2 dogs. Mark and his family made it memorable for us. Due to non-stop downpour, my husband was reluctant to drive somewhere to have dinner and Mark sensed that right away and offered to cook dinner for our family! It turned into a small get-together of Mark's guests in his rental properties and everyone was extremely thanful for Mark's generosity. We all had our dinner at the bakeshop where we enjoyed a wonderful serving of tomato soup, freshly baked bread and garlic bread, salad and wine/beer. We topped it off with chunks of delicious chocolates and ice cream for dessert. The guests helped cleaned up and washed the dishes :). It was truly memorable. Our daughter got to play with other kids so everyone really had a great time. It was like visiting an old friend :). Will definitely try to go back! Thanks Mark for making our stay a really memorable one.

We had a great time! The area is beautifully nestled in the redwoods. Raymond's Bakery had a lively band playing when we arrived. Lots of good energy and great pizza. Mark is a very generous and kind host. Highly recommend staying here!

Friendly and cozy

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the Creekside Cottage. It had everything we needed, including a microwave and a teapot to boil water. It was chilly outside (30s at night), but the gas heater and space heaters made the inside space very cozy.

As others have mentioned, Mark is very friendly and open. He invited us to join his family for dinner and made delicious pizza and appetizers. The bakery was closed for the season, but he still provided daily breakfast. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and a great base to explore the surrounding area (we went to Healdsburg and Sonoma Coast State Park).

Family Friendly, laid back

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I wanted our 16mo son to get some outdoors time, and Elim Grove was perfect, peaceful, and welcoming of us as a family. There is a little playground on the property that belongs to the owner's children, but younger guests are welcome to play, too! Our son loved throwing pebbles into the creek and exploring the plants, and was acquainted with the friendly cats. We stayed in the Creekside cottage, which was convenient because there is a small family room with a twin trundle bed. We set up that space with our son's travel crib, which gave us privacy in the bedroom. We also brought our own baby tub (folding Stokke) and bathed our kiddo outside on the porch since the bathroom only has a shower.

Yes, you do have to pack in your own food, but there is a small fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and electric kettle in the room so you can definitely make do. If you need to do anything more elaborate, Mark can let you use the commercial kitchen (provided that there isn't anyone else working). It felt very relaxing to have the run of the place, there aren't many locked doors! Breakfast was great-- Pat makes simple pastries that aren't too sweet, hardboiled eggs, coffee, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, etc.

We liked being a ways out from Guerneville-- Cazadero is much smaller and quieter, and only twenty minutes away from Guerneville. It's also only 20-30 minutes from Jenner and Bodega Bay, which is such a pretty drive. It was an ideal trip for our family. Thank you so much, Mark!

cozy cottage

  • 4 of 5

Lovely place for a short stay. Mark and staff is very accommodating and super friendly. Great hikes and winetastings nearby. The only problem was the trundle bed, the mattress was uncomfortable and one adult daughter ended up on the floor and the other in my comfy bed.
