Ke Nani Kai s located on Molokai's West end and back from the ocean. There is Kepuhi Beach a short walk down the road in front and it is great for surfing in the winter months and perfect for swimming/snorkeling in the summer months. Just a short walk over the old golf course is the Papohaku Beach to the longest white sand beach in the state of Hawaii. Very rough in the winter months and cannot swim, but awesome to watch the waves break in and in the summer months great for long ocean swims and shell finding. A short walk to the left brings you to Make Horse with lots of little tide pools for taking a cold tub or letting the little ones catch the little fish. Nice beach hike can be done from Paniolo Hale to the point.
West side is about 5 minutes to Maunaloa town where there is a small market open daily to 5PM. 15 minutes is to the airport. 20 minutes take a Cook House with indoor and outdoor seating, the coffee Plantation, Coffees of Hawaii which has a coffee bar and Wi-Fi and a gift shop, along with some other shops.
Kaunakakai Town is about 30 minutes and that is where most of the groceries, art shops, gift stores, mini markets, restaurants, equipment rentals and our county offices. The east end of Molokai with other great little beaches, a playground for the little ones and a small market with takeout foods is a good hour drive. There are many things to see and do on Molokai but most are all outdoors. If you like to paddle rent a kayak or Stand up board and paddle over our barrier reef. Molokai is about entertaining yourselves, although Hotel Molokai on a Friday Night is entertaining itself! Come see, Come stay!

Desiring a warm February, we were delighted to also have such a quiet and congenial time at Ke Nani Kai. The specific condo, being a corner unit, is among the larger 2 bedroom units. From the deck, at a distance one can see a whale spout or ships floating. The neighbors in the opposite condo are very kind and quiet. A tree hospitable to noisy myna birds encouraged us to close our windows at night. Cardinals and Brazilian cardinals occasionally perched on our deck rail to sing to us. The down pillows are quite comfortable. The heavy pots and pans are wonderful to use--non stick without having a plastic surface...likely from Costco. Bring salt and pepper, spices, olive oil for cooking. We appreciated the washcloths and large beach towels. It was nice to have wood floors so one could easily sweep up the sand. There's a coffee maker and blender for smoothies. We appreciated the white walls lending a spacious look. The people renting or owning seemed quite congenial. We could visit with various people at the pool. (The pool hardly smells of chlorine, as it uses salt as part of the purification plan.) The hot tub is quite nice, too. There seem to be occasional potlucks among the guests. Also, there is bike riding possibilities on rather flat terrain toward the west. We enjoyed snorkeling at Dixie Maru--about 6 miles west...and at another beach a bit closer where the sewer line used to flow into the ocean. Milepost 20 on the East side and Murphy's beach offers opportunity for those just beginning and who really like shallow water--3 feet deep. Thanks for renting us your condo. We would happily return!
