As a career designer and artist, I have taken great personal pride in recently renovating my home to reflect the beauty and character of this great Smoky Mountain region. Through the main entrance, a visitor will discover a cozy living area with a stone, corner fireplace and big screen television with a premium Uverse package with Wifi. The compelling views of the lake and mountains will lure guests through the sliding doors to the quaint yet massive covered porch, with a gas grill and fireplace: excellent for outdoor dining and entertaining in the fresh mountain air. For preparing meals indoors, the galley kitchen, complete with dishwasher with all of the amenities for a chef. Weather permitting, dining inside is optional. The Master Bedroom offers a kingsize bed, adjacent large newly renovated bath with separate dressing area. For a private retreat with your early morning coffee, step outside to a comfy sitting area on the front deck, including stone fireplace. Additional sleeping areas include a Guest Bedroom with a queen size bed and bath on the upper level. Located beneath the main level is a private Sleeping Porch with a stone fireplace, a bedroom with two full-size beds, a full size bath and twin bed swing on screened porch. A second bedroom features bunk beds. The large porch is screened for young family members to 'camp out' and have their own space with a ping pong tables, craft table and games.
Lakeside opportunities are endless at the boathouse including a pontoon boat, paddle board, small kayak, outdoor heated shower, upper boathouse sun deck for lakeside dining, suntanning, or access to swimming area. On this level, there is also a kitchen and wet bar. The lakeside area is conveniently located for dining under the stars and ending a fun day with S'mores cooked over the lakeside fire pit. The swimming and dock area are located in a private cove for swimming safely.
I have spent most summers here on Lake Summit, enjoying the days filled with water activities and fun with cool nights and warm days. I learned to swim here off the rock steps, as did my children and grandchildren. As a designer, I wanted quaint comfort and easy living with beauty out every window.
If you have never been to Lake Summit (or even heard of it, for that matter) you are in for an real treat! The homes, cabins, and lake cottages here are passed from one generation to the next since 1921, when the Green River was dammed to form this 324-acre body of water known as Lake Summit. It is still accessible only by a gravel road which probably which gives it further charm. The 125 residents of Lake Summit appreciate this pristine sanctuary and safe quality of life. It is home to 3 of the most famous camps in the Country… Greystone, Green Cove and Mondamin.
Coming to 'the lake you will remember the cool mountain breeze and the beautiful green waters fresh from the Green River and magnificent views of the mountains. Lake Summit is all about blending with nature. There is much to do than lake activities. Take your family to Asheville, The Biltmore, neighboring national parks - Dupont and Pisgah National Forest. All amenities included in this charming cozy that make you feel at home. Kids will enjoy all of the activies, smores by the fire pit, paddle board, pontoon, kayak and lake side water fun. We especially loved the boathouse with a full kitchen a large screen tv with movie channels for a rainy day. Large veranda was delightful for morning coffee, cocktail parties and evening meals. Historic Hendersonville has much to do, The Flat Rock playhouse, movie house, quaint shops and many restaurants. However, we could barely tear ourselves away from the waters edge and fabulous home. Great location for families from Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte etc.
Besides the communities of Saluda and Flat Rock, and the city of Hendersonvile, Asheville, NC, is only 30 miles away. It features the newest Sierra Nevada and New Belgium Breweries (Fat Tire Beer), great variety of dining, mountain music and jazz, and the famous Biltmore House, Gardens & Winery.
