Information for guest about Douglas Lake:
Set against the backdrop of the foothills of the Smoky Mountain, Douglas Lake is a popular recreation for all types of vacationers. The dam that controls the reservoir was built in 1942, stretches 202 feet high and 1,705 feet across the French Broad River. Douglas Lake provides 513 miles of shoreline and 28,420 acres of water surface for recreation activities. In a year with normal rainfall, the water level in Douglas Reservoir varies about 44 feet from summer to winter. Although most of the shoreline along the 43 mile-long lake is private. Amenities include restrooms with showers, picnic areas with tables, a boat ramp and a swimming beach.
Leaves: In the Fall enjoy the amazing colors of the changing leaves throughout the Smokies. There is a new view around every bend. Walk or drive through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and you will not be disappointed!
Birdwatching: From late July to early October, birdwatchers will witness the fall migration of shore birds, wading birds, and other waterfowl that flock to Douglas Lake. The birds rest and feed on the muddy shoreline and in areas of shallow water exposed as the level of the reservoir is lowered to winter flood control levels.
Fishing: Nourished by three rivers, Douglas Lake has become the premier crappie lake in East Tennessee. Other good fishing includes: white bass, sauger, black crappie, striped bass, spotted bass, walleye, blue cat, flat head catfish, channel catfish, red horse, red breast sunfish and bluegill. Fishing is a year round sport at Douglas although spring and fall are the preferred seasons. From November to May, the wide shallow embayment, fertile creek hollows and stump beds, attract the crappie in huge numbers during the spring spawning season making crappie fishing excellent! Spring is the best time for bass fishing but you'll find there's good stock year-round.
Trails: If you want to add a hiking adventure to your time at the lake, the trailhead to the Trotter Bluff Small Wild Area is adjacent to the Douglas Dam Headwater Campground. Hike the almost 2 miles of trail that winds through 30 acres of hardwood forest and limestone sinkholes to an overlook of the lake's tailwaters. Springtime hikes are enhanced with colorful wildflowers that dot the landscape. The Dandridge Partnership Trail is a 1.2 mile out-and back that winds through wooded terrain
*****Douglas Lake is a seasonal lake regulated by the TVA. There will always be water in the main channel however, during certain times of the year there will not be a lot of water at our shoreline. The TVA starts to fill the lake over Memorial Day and it is usually full by the end of May.. The TVA then starts to empty the lake after Labor Day and by the end of September, there is not a lot of water at our shoreline but there is still water in the main channel and you can drop your boat at one of the marinas on the main channel.

About Jane Beebe
We live in the city of New Orleans and love having a place to get away. The mountains and lake are the perfect peaceful backdrop.
Jane Beebe purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Jane Beebe chose Sevierville
I chose this property after looking in the area for over a year. It has all the comforts of home and is away from it all, but it's close to everything. You can enjoy all four seasons by spending time being a tourist or never leave the cabin. It is a different vacation for me every time.
What makes this Cabin unique
The location of the cabin and the resort amenities make the cabin flexible for whatever kind of vacation you want to have. The cabin is equipped so you can go to the local grocery store when you arrive and never have to get in your car again until you leave. Or you can easily take in all the sights driving as little as 20 minutes away. Best of all, the way into downtown Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg from the cabin avoids most of the main traffic!

Tranquil, charming mountain lake property.
Amazing, clean cabin!
We aboustley loved this cabin! We had 4 adults and 3 kids, while we wished it had a third bedroom we made it work! Jane was easy to work and any issues we had were addressed! The steep hill wasn't bad at all! The deck was gorgeous and relaxing! Only thing I wish was that it had a better view and had better parking! Over all we would definitely rent from them again!
Beautiful and spacious cabin!
We loved staying at this cabin. It was clean, provided everything we needed for our stay. Enough space for 6 people. Had our wedding ceremony outside on the deck, came out perfect! Loved it! Jane was very helpful, and easy to work with. Would definitely recommend staying here and will come back!
Great cabin stay!
Cabin was very clean and everything we expected. We enjoyed the quietness yet being close to town too. Great stay!
Spring Break fun
The cabin itself was great. The only issue we had was the extremely windy roads leading to the cabin. Not meant for those with motion sick issues. Also the steep hill leading to the cabin itself isn't great if you have a low hitch. We had to take it off in order to get up to the cabin.
Our stay was pleasant. Responses were quick. The place had everything we needed. It was a cozy. Enjoyable. Would stay here again!
AWAY FROM IT ALL, BUT CLOSE TO EVERYTHING - Peaceful Lake and Mountain Cabin. Get away from the daily grind and city living in this peaceful cabin. Enjoy all four beautiful seasons in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is 20 minutes from Dollywood and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Local shopping and amenities located nearby in downtown Sevierville to avoid the traffic and tourists crowds in Pigeon Forge. Enjoy the hiking trails and Douglas Lake without having to get in your car. It is located in the foothills so remember, what goes down must come up. Prepare for some fun exercise or a ride back to the hot tub at the cabin!

Pets are considered, but no more than two. They must be crated when the owner is not at the cabin and obviously housebroken. Cleaning up after your pet outside is required under the HOA. There is a basket of toys and a cushion in the cabin. If your pet is destructive please secure them and leave in tact for other renters.
