Information for guest about Douglas Lake:

Set against the backdrop of the foothills of the Smoky Mountain, Douglas Lake is a popular recreation for all types of vacationers. The dam that controls the reservoir was built in 1942, stretches 202 feet high and 1,705 feet across the French Broad River. Douglas Lake provides 513 miles of shoreline and 28,420 acres of water surface for recreation activities. In a year with normal rainfall, the water level in Douglas Reservoir varies about 44 feet from summer to winter. Although most of the shoreline along the 43 mile-long lake is private. Amenities include restrooms with showers, picnic areas with tables, a boat ramp and a swimming beach.

Leaves: In the Fall enjoy the amazing colors of the changing leaves throughout the Smokies. There is a new view around every bend. Walk or drive through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and you will not be disappointed!

Birdwatching: From late July to early October, birdwatchers will witness the fall migration of shore birds, wading birds, and other waterfowl that flock to Douglas Lake. The birds rest and feed on the muddy shoreline and in areas of shallow water exposed as the level of the reservoir is lowered to winter flood control levels.

Fishing: Nourished by three rivers, Douglas Lake has become the premier crappie lake in East Tennessee. Other good fishing includes: white bass, sauger, black crappie, striped bass, spotted bass, walleye, blue cat, flat head catfish, channel catfish, red horse, red breast sunfish and bluegill. Fishing is a year round sport at Douglas although spring and fall are the preferred seasons. From November to May, the wide shallow embayment, fertile creek hollows and stump beds, attract the crappie in huge numbers during the spring spawning season making crappie fishing excellent! Spring is the best time for bass fishing but you'll find there's good stock year-round.

Trails: If you want to add a hiking adventure to your time at the lake, the trailhead to the Trotter Bluff Small Wild Area is adjacent to the Douglas Dam Headwater Campground. Hike the almost 2 miles of trail that winds through 30 acres of hardwood forest and limestone sinkholes to an overlook of the lake's tailwaters. Springtime hikes are enhanced with colorful wildflowers that dot the landscape. The Dandridge Partnership Trail is a 1.2 mile out-and back that winds through wooded terrain

*****Douglas Lake is a seasonal lake regulated by the TVA. There will always be water in the main channel however, during certain times of the year there will not be a lot of water at our shoreline. The TVA starts to fill the lake over Memorial Day and it is usually full by the end of May.. The TVA then starts to empty the lake after Labor Day and by the end of September, there is not a lot of water at our shoreline but there is still water in the main channel and you can drop your boat at one of the marinas on the main channel.

About Jane Beebe

We live in the city of New Orleans and love having a place to get away. The mountains and lake are the perfect peaceful backdrop.

Jane Beebe purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Jane Beebe chose Sevierville

I chose this property after looking in the area for over a year. It has all the comforts of home and is away from it all, but it's close to everything. You can enjoy all four seasons by spending time being a tourist or never leave the cabin. It is a different vacation for me every time.

What makes this cabin unique

The location of the cabin and the resort amenities make the cabin flexible for whatever kind of vacation you want to have. The cabin is equipped so you can go to the local grocery store when you arrive and never have to get in your car again until you leave. Or you can easily take in all the sights driving as little as 20 minutes away. Best of all, the way into downtown Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg from the cabin avoids most of the main traffic!

Coziest and cleanest cabin in all of our trips to Gatlinburg

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Gatlinburg quite a few times and this by far was the coziest and cleanest cabin we have ever been too. I was soo appreciative that Ms. Beebe's cabin was still available and we got the opportunity to stay here. We felt right at home----the kitchen had everything we needed. Was shocked at how many DVD movies were available for our whole family to enjoy!! Our kids wanted to spend all of their time at the cabin...just felt right at home. We will without a doubt stay in this cabin again!!!! Thanks for everything!!!!

WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME WITH OUR DOGS

  • 5 of 5

We visited in the first week of 2018, we went with our 5 huskies and they had a blast, we walked them to the lake which was partially frozen, they loved to run in the wooden deck, the cabin had a box full of dog toys, at least 20 toys, the played with them, destroyed a few and we left some replacement toys for the other dogs to come, Jane the owner is also a dog lover, they have dog related art all over the cabin :) , she quickly replied all of our questions via email. The cabin has 2 big bedroom with full bathrooms, the heater was working properly, we were at 2 degrees fahrenheit some days, the dogs loved it, the kitchen had everything that a home needs and was found in place, the water pressure was good and the water heater was perfectly working , this was the kind of place you can visit and take only your clothes with you, no need to take anything else, the hot tub was ready to be used but it was to cold outside for us to jump in, we used the fireplace to roast marshmallow and it was enough wood available , we might visit again in summer to enjoy the lakes and trails, thanks

Quiet, out of the way cabin.

  • 3 of 5

Cute, nice cabin located away from the hustle and bustle. Lots of games, DVD's, and a real fireplace. Nice to have a washer/dryer in cabin since we were there a week. Everything worked well as advertised, just wish it didn't rain most of the week.

Perfect little cabin for our weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Liked the location of this cabin. Easy to get to and not to far from all of the attractions offered in Garlinburg/Pigeon Forge. This was the first cabin we felt like we were able to get out and walk around the “community”,

Almost like being at home and going for a walk.

The owner was very kind and quick to respond to all messages. I loved that she is an animal lover and allowed us to bring our dog. The hippo that was in the cabin for our dog to lay on was the perfect touch.
