About Jeff Schmitz
The owner, Jeff Schmitz, is a builder and designer. Jeff is an amazing carpenter with a passion for unique, innovative design and an incredible eye for detail. He loves nature---both at the coast and in the mountains. Jeff has poured his heart and soul into making this space an oasis for couples to enjoy. Jeff often travels to the North Carolina coast where he is renovating two historic homes. He enjoys spending time in the mountains with his family while continuing to build in this community.
Jeff Schmitz purchased this House in 1992
Why Jeff Schmitz chose Asheville
Jeff was originally drawn to Asheville from the west coast by the relaxed lifestyle and ample access to beautiful mountains and rushing waters. He fell in love with this house and this part of Asheville 22 years ago. Since then, he has worked to renovate the space into a mountain dream house. It is both private and close to town---the best of both worlds. This is such a wonderful place and he wanted to share it with others as they traveled to the mountains of Western North Carolina. We all work so hard these days and forget how important it is to nurture ourselves and our relationships. This is an amazing, private romantic place that is appealing to adults of all ages.
What makes this House unique
This house had so much hidden potential when he purchased it many years ago. It was a diamond in the rough. The property has private lay out for being this convenient to town. It's character stood out above all others.

We had three wonderful nights in your truly exceptional vacation home! All the amenities were provided as listed on your web site. It is not a surprise to see how rapidly availability dates fill up--I wouldn't be surprised by repeat guests. We certainly plan to return. Asheville is a wonderful place to visit and your home made our first visit to the area all the more memorable and enjoyable. We have stayed in dozens of VRBOs but we definitely rank your Romantic Getaway near the top!
Cute, clean and updated with great outdoor space.
We really enjoyed our stay here, and particularly loved the beautiful location and space outdoors. It was very safe/contained for our dog. The house was clean and cute as a button. Downsides were that our phone signal didn’t work (although WiFi helped), the bed was very soft (works for some, not for us) and there were no spare blankets (pretty minor). The house was located within 5 minutes of an Ingles and other shops, and 10-12 minutes from downtown. Uber rides were easy to come by and cost us about $10 per way, to downtown. We’d probably try another part of town next time, but this place is really lovely.
Awesome house with nice amenities and a great back yard!
We had an amazing time here! The House was clean and organized, the amenities were really nice, and the private back yard with hot tub was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. Our dog had a wonderful stay as well, welcomed by his own eating corner. He really loved the fenced in area as he could run around freely.
We loved everything about this VRBO. It had everything we needed for ourselves and two dogs. View and location was awesome. The hot tub was perfect as well. Would definitely stay again!
Perfect little place for the two of us and our dogs. The yard is amazing. The house had everything we needed and was so cozy and cute. Easy Lyft or drive to all downtown Asheville has to offer. Also easy drive to incredible hiking. Can't wait to go back.
We had such a great time this past weekend in Asheville. This house was perfect for us (me, my husband and our two dogs). The pictures don’t do this property justice. The property location is also great. A short drive to downtown, Biltmore, West Asheville, and River Arts District.
This cottage is the best of both worlds-close to town and private! Located in Buncombe County and just outside the city limits, only 4 miles from downtown Asheville, the Escape is located in a wooded setting. Hiking trails are abundant only minutes away on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our favorite restaurants are the Admiral and Curate', you must make reservations early though. Other great places to dine in downtown Asheville include Limones, Salsa, Zombra, Tupelo Honey and Mela.
