The Neighborhood:

50 yards away - 6,000+ acres in the Sand to Snow National Monument crisscrossed by hiking trails.

7 miles away - Historic Pioneertown includes a classic western 'Mane Street' and the famous Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace, with nationally-known live acts and great food.

15 miles away - The Integratron. This historical structure is a resonant tabernacle and energy machine sited on a powerful geomagnetic vortex in the magical Mojave Desert.

20 miles away - Joshua Tree National Park. A premier desert destination in the national park system. It offers unsurpassed scenery, day and overnight hiking, world-class rock-climbing, camping, and educational programs.

30 miles away - Desert Hot Springs. Home to world famous spas.

50 miles away - Palms Springs, the Desert Hills outlet malls, and the Morongo tribal casino.

Enjoy four-wheel driving? Well-mapped trails 4WD routes abound in the area. An hour's drive along well-mapped fire roads takes you from the Pipes Canyon floor through forests of Joshua trees to the alpine meadows of the eastern San Bernardino Mountains, recently designated as the Sand to Snow National Monument.

Other Things to Note:

The high desert climate is distinctly cooler than in the lower desert region of Palm Springs and its neighboring desert cities. Nights are pleasant even in midsummer, desert breezes blow year-round and we even get snow from time to time in the winter. It's always a good night to enjoy a fire in our traditional stucco fireplace.

Spectcular location, very nice home

  • 5 of 5

The house is very pleasant, comfortable and clean. It's located very close to Joshua Tree NP and is surrounded by equally impressive scenery. We look forward to coming back.

Beautiful, peaceful, and spiritual setting

  • 5 of 5

MY husband and I joined a wedding party that gathered in Pipe's Canyon. We loved being at the highest point, Los Vientos Hideaway. We could see the Lodge and other homes below and it was an easy walk to the wedding venue. We prepared our breakfasts and lunches at Los Vientos and enjoyed every sunrise and sunset. The house has lovely furnishings and decor and was perfect for a couple's stay. Full kitchen and lots of natural light in the dining area. We drove our rental car up the dirt road but did not drive much after arrival. There was ample parking. If you enjoy the natural beauty of the desert and it's peace and long for some quiet time with your partner, this may be the spot for you. We would definitely return. We were close to trails but were not able to fit in a hike. We did visit the Integratron and enjoyed our family dinner at Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown. Much closer to grocery stores and amenities than I had thought but it seems a world away.

We love this place. Very well kept up home and property. Pics don't do it justice. Great hike right off the back of the property. Joshua tree is 30 min Palm Springs 45 min. Owner is very nice and has quick communication. Major frustration and reiterated several owner is very nice and has quick communication. Couldn't have been happier. Stay here !

Views, hikes in a wonderful natural environment

  • 4 of 5

Close access to wonderful trails up through desert scrub and a maze of big boulders, wildlife in abundance if you slow down and look. The house is clean and well-kept, with good views of the surrounding countryside. Owners were very nice and responsive in our few communications.

I liked being in a remote place, with few neighbors, lights, and no night noise, but the last ~1.2 miles of very dusty, deeply rutted dirt on steep moguls getting up to the house was a bit stressful without a 4-wheel drive. I couldn't have made it if it had been muddy or bad weather of any kind. Also, it's a 1-hr. trip to get to the closest entrance to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park (west entrance).

An amazing hideaway in the desert that will knock your socks off!

  • 5 of 5

This little desert house was so beautiful in its simplicity. Perched up on a hilltop overlooking the desert valley with views of distant snow capped mountains, this was a place of breath taking beauty. The views from inside the house were also amazing. I especially enjoyed waking up to the views outside the bedroom window. And the hiking in the area surrounding the house was unbelievable. This place is a true gem not to be missed. The last mile of driving is rough. We had a little sedan that was fine if driven slowly. A vehicle that is higher of the ground would have been better. Something like a jeep would be best for explore surrounding areas especially back roads.

This was an amazing open spacious home away from home with amazing views of the desert

  • 5 of 5

The home was small but with all the windows it felt like you had a window to the world and could have spent hours just watching the weather pass you by. The desert just outside your doorstep was amazing with lots of stars. There was a great hiking path right outside the driveway and it was very secluded and peaceful. Everything worked well and it was easy to find. I highly recommend this place as a soulful restful place away from home and I would definitely return.
