Overview

About the property

"Fiddler on the Reef" is a quaint Florida style cottage is full of character and charm. Views of the Gulf of Mexico can be seen from the kitchen, dining area, living room, and front bedroom. Perfect for families, this 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage has an open living concept. The master bedroom has a luxurious king bed and en-suite bath. The guest bedroom includes a queen bed and views of the gulf. The bunk room is perfect for children of all ages with 4 bunks and room to play.

A combination living/dining space allows for a large gathering place with a flat screen tv over the fireplace. The open kitchen with its stainless steel appliances and granite counters will inspire the chef in everyone. The front porch is the gathering place for anytime of day. Enjoy your morning coffee on the front porch with spectacular sunrises over the gulf. Unwind after a day of fishing, shelling, kayaking, and swimming with cool breezes and a cold drink. There is even an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand.

This resort community provides a unique beach experience that is both rustic and natural at the same time. At certain times during the year there may be seaweed that washes ashore and may decrease the amount of beach that is exposed. SummerCamp Beach is located in the beach community of St. Teresa, Fl. Approximately 45 miles south of Tallahassee, we are miles from everywhere, but still close enough to conveniences. We believe we have the most beautiful coastal community in all of Florida.

There is a community pool within walking distance of the home. Kick back and enjoy breathtaking views of the gulf as you lounge under a cabana or swim in the pool.

If you are looking for adventure, walk down to the kayak shack and hop on one of the kayaks or canoes. Cruise the shallows of the gulf while getting up close and personal with the sea life. Watch out for jumping mullet!

Commune with nature as you walk along one of the many boardwalks in the community that wind through the undisturbed marshlands, wetlands and woods.

This is what old Florida feels like and you will sense that you have stepped back into a simpler time, where fishing, boating, shelling, swimming and reconnecting with family and friends is possible. If you love getting away to a simpler time, this place is for you. Once you discover SummerCamp Beach, you will realize this is something you should have done long ago. Just make sure to adjust your watches...this is a place where time doesn't actually stop, but it sure gets a little break!

Great Family Vacation Exploring!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at The Fiddler House! The house itself was so nice, well furnished, clean, and the kitchen was so well stocked with anything you might need to cook. The bedrooms were a great size and our kids loved the bunk room. We had plenty of room to spread out. We loved being able to explore the beaches, and saw all kinds of sea life. There are so many places to choose from: Wakulla Springs was a great day trip, Saint George Island and Dog Island had really wonderful beaches. Our favorite place to shop and eat was Apalachicola. The property is well managed and Erika is very responsive! We loved the community, and while at the pool felt like we were at our own exclusive resort. We would definitely put it our list to visit again!

Great, quiet stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at Fiddler on the Reef. The inside is beautiful & it's tucked away from all the noise which was so relaxing. Erika was very responsive to any questions we had & dedicated to making sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The beach wasn't your typical beach - very wild & natural and we loved being able to see all the different wildlife. We also were only a short drive away from Carabelle Beach, and St George Island which we loved visiting. Highly recommend stopping into Appalachicola to grab a bite to eat!

Peace and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

This home is so beautiful, comfortable, and clean, just what we needed for rest and relaxation. The community is quiet and not at all crowded. We spent two days at the large, wonderful pool. The setting is natural, so don't expect a large, man-made beach. We drove to St. George State Park to get our big beach fix (about 35 miles). Wakulla Springs is also a great place to visit. We took the boat tour and had lunch there. We saw countless alligators, birds, and even a manatee! It was like stepping back in time. I had never been to this part of Florida before, but I definitely want to return. I don't understand why more people don't know about this corner of the world, but I don't mind if it stays just the way it is.

One note: the handicapped-accessible ramp at the pool was locked when we visited. It would be great for that to be available for guests with limited mobility. If you need that service, you may want to call ahead and ask for that.

The house was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house and location. We were looking for something away from the busy beach like Panama City, and we found it! We had a couple of hiccups when we arrived, but Erika was awesome and personally assisted us in getting things worked out. Even though it is not close to a lot of shopping, we didn't mind the drive to the grocery store. Had dinner at a couple of restaurants which were both very good (Angelo's and Bad Anthony's). The pool area was great, not a lot of people, again, what we were looking for. We are used to a different kind of beach area (larger sandy area), but we had plenty of room to put an umbrella and chairs and explore the water for shells. Kayaking was also a lot of fun! Easy access to the water and our kids loved it! Our dog (a Yorkie) even had a relaxing and fun time! Did not want to leave! We definitely want to go back!

Tranquillity on the forgotten coast.

  • 4 of 5

Fiddler on the Reef was a wonderful home away from home. The decor and home furnishings were so comfortable and inviting that it made us never want to leave!

It only took a few steps to be at the water's edge where my dog had the absolute time of her life. In the morning we drank coffee and watched the sun rise above the trees out back. In the afternoons we did yoga and read books on Turkey Point. At night we listened to the frogs in the creek and gazed at the star lit night sky over a glass of wine.

Each evening, we drove in to Apalachicola for shopping, drinks, and dinner. And on our last day we spent hours looking for shells in St. George Island State Park, which is a beautiful place to be!

We did have trouble finding a good grocery store and we had a bad dinning experience on our first night at Angelo and Sons (zero stars!) There aren't a lot of upscale restaurants outside of Apalachicola so driving to and from became kind of a drag. However, we will definitely be back because the house and seclusion are incredibly peaceful and serene! Thank you Erika!
