About Richard - Owner/Manager

My wife and I have lived in North Georgia since 1989. The mountains have always held a special place for us. We found our special Edelweiss Cabin last year and now have this remarkable cabin to share.

Richard - Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Richard - Owner/Manager chose Suches

There are a lot of mountain cabins to choose from. Many are rustic and have a mountain feel, but few are actually on the river and border National Forest. Being located across the river from Highway 60, helps the cabin be quiet and have an isolated feeling. We have put a lot of upgrades into the property, to enhance your visit.

What makes this cabin unique

What makes our Edelweiss Cabin unique is the very homey feel you experience in this cabin. It is large enough to be a full sized home, and the furnishings and décor will make you feel as though you are at home. All of the modern amenities are there, but in a very quiet, deep woods atmosphere.

Relaxing and beautiful

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was perfect for my family of 3 and our German Shepherd. We came to the area to look at The University of North Georgia in Dahlonega for our son. This cabin was in an area between Dahlonega and Blairsville, so it was very convenient for us to see things. The University and Dahlonega were easily accessible for a great day, the next day we headed to Vogel State Park, also easy to get to. We went to Helen for another day and enjoyed being tourists.

The cabin had very comfortable beds, it was very pretty - the stream in the back yard is very peaceful and relaxing. There is a hot tub under the deck which is nice, and a great, big firepit to sit around in the evening. The kitchen is great, the grill - everything about the cabin and area we loved. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the internet was very bad - and we don't need internet necessarily while on vacation, but somehow the tv worked off internet so we could never get through a movie because the connection would get interrupted no matter what we tried. We ended up buying DVD's at Wal-Mart so we could watch something on tv at night. I don't know enough about technology to know if this is even the fault of the owner, or maybe it is just the remote location of the cabin that made the internet like this, but it was pretty frustrating when we wanted to watch a movie.

Other than that, it was a great experience! I highly recommend for family get togethers, a weekend getaway, and the location is terrific for seeing lots of things!

Great!

  • 5 of 5

It was my second stay at the condo. I have stayed at the same condo two years ago, and booked again for this year's fall vacation. Two years ago, it was raining and mostly stayed inside the condo because of the weather, but this year, we were able to enjoy campfire outside and my daughter enjoyed making S'more - note: there are marshmallow sticks for this :) It was nice that there are logs for guests to use. We also enjoyed the grill (and the propane is already hooked so the grill is ready to use, it was very convenient.) and we have noticed the grill has been updated, it was nice. We had a great time again this year, thank you Richard for everything:)

It's nice just watch your P&Q's, not really secluded and a lot of rules

  • 3 of 5

We had a great time but it was a little uncomfortable with all the passive aggressive signs. I was reluctant to write this review at all but i felt owner deserves a fair shake. This place is really nice for an older couple looking for a quite weekend. But the notes are a little too much for my taste, maybe the owner had a bad experience so don't fault them for wanting to protect there investment. Just be prepared that if you break the rules you will be paying extra, and said rules should have been posted on the rental page to avoid any surprises upon arrival. Now I didn't break anything I'm aware of, but I won't be surprised if I'm charged for something.

Owner's Response: Dear guest, I'm sorry you guys felt uncomfortable with our rules as your review describes. I appreciate the fact that you said the following regarding some of the "rule notes". "Maybe the owner had a bad experience, so don't want to fault them for wanting to protect their investment." Please understand that this investment is also our home, not a Frat House. After several instances of guests booking for 2-3 people, and then showing up with 15 or more and then absolutely trashing the house, washing their dogs in the hot tub, breaking furniture and then trying to burn it in the outside fire pit to destroy the evidence, yes....we felt some rules that shouldn't have to be posted, needed to be posted after all. As a society, we hopefully learn to respect other people's property. If there weren't rules to follow, we would be no more than Ferrell Animals. There shouldn't have to be signs posted to remind people of that, but unfortunately it has become necessary. It is just unreal to me when a guest says "If I would have known you were going to charge us for trashing your house, we would have cleaned up a little!!" You folks didn't break anything, as your review noted, and you both left the property very clean, so we gladly refunded 100% of your deposit. So you can relax, you weren't charged for anything you would be surprised by via some unknown rule. I will think about how to post these common sense rules on the website. Richard

Perfect for our last minute get-away!

  • 5 of 5

Our family made a spontaneous weekend trip to the mountains, and we were so blessed that this home was available. The house is so nice, and the river being so close is awesome! We enjoyed exploring the area and hanging out in tubes anchored in the river! It was perfect for our family.. and we would definitely go back!
