About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8

This 4 bedroom, 3 bath home sits at the very top of the Inverness Ridge with sunset and sunrise views for miles in both directions. Hiking and mountain biking trails lead off directly from the property, which literally borders the National Park.

This beautiful home is perched at the very top of the Inverness Ridge, with sunrise and sunset views. Secluded and comfortable, it's perfect for families and groups, and can comfortably sleep 8.

The ground floor features 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. All rooms have windows looking out into the trees. Upstairs is a large open floor plan with kitchen, dining, living room and deck with high wood ceilings. Perfect for hanging out together.

The property shares over 200 yards of property line with the National Park, with several trails running in various directions directly from the property. Mountain bikers will be in heaven, as will hikers and bird-watchers. The trails around the property are well marked and maintained, and are ideal for strollers or those who prefer strolling to hiking. Numerous smaller trails branch off for those who wish to explore further.

This property is professionally managed by Point Reyes Vacation Rentals. You will be provided with detailed arrival instructions and a lockbox code. We're happy to meet with you in person if you prefer. Just let us know.

The house is up on the ridge, and so it gets sun all day long. But when the weather hits, it can be impressive to watch. Fortunately this house was built with that in mind, so triple-paned windows and sturdy construction will allow you to enjoy watching the show outside, while staying comfortable and relaxed inside.

Bring your mountain bikes and hiking shoes, headlamps, daypacks, and some picnic supplies.

Be sure to stock up on groceries, because once you're up here, you won't want to leave. We have a nice pantry stocked with all the condiments and spices you'll need, as well as every cooking and baking implements you can think of.

There's one small flatscreen television with basic cable and dvd player, as well as an HDMI cable for streaming from your computer. We have excellent wifi, and the property does get cell phone reception (many don't in this part of the world, but we're at the very top, so there's nothing to block the reception!)

Guestbook comments from the manager

The house is beautiful, the location feels like you're on top of the world. There is a Point Reyes National Seashore trail that follows the property line on one side and tremendous views. The house itself has plenty of room, an incredible open floor plan to enjoy, etc.

The only thing to be aware of is the TV/cable situation is essentially non existent. This is a house to disconnect at. Great wifi but the TV is a tiny 20 inch screen tucked away. So for those looking to enjoy nature, be present with their families, this is a great spot.

Thanks!

Perfect house in remote, scenic location

  • 5 of 5

This is probably the nicest vacation rental I’ve ever stayed at. The house is perfect. The location is astounding. The property is beautiful. The views are wonderful.

This is obviously a much-loved home for a family. It’s well taken care of, and the house is filled with books and mementos. It’s a very comfortable place to hang out. They have nice belongings, and a couple rules to follow about stuff. If I had a really high-spirited little kid, I might pick another place.

The property was landscaped by a very thoughtful person. Really beautiful flora. I enjoyed watching the bees come attend the plants. Lots of other critters visit the property. This is a great place for nature lovers of all stripes.

The house is all of ten paces from a stunning national park, one of whose trails runs right along the driveway. This isn’t to suggest that you’ll see many people, the property is quite remote. We saw only two hikers, one of whom was a neighbor.

The trail by the house leads to a beautiful hilltop about one (hilly, switch-backed) hour away by foot. I set off on that trail in the fog, and by the time I got to the trailhead, the fog had burned off and I enjoyed a breathtaking view for miles in every direction. Wow!

Point Reyes National Seashore is a stunning park. Wonderful views, drives and hikes. We saw elephant seals and elk. Sat on a remote, miles-long beach and watched the surf pound.

The property manager did a great job. Great documentation, no-hassle access to property. The property manager claims no cell service, but ours worked great, and Waze navigated us to the property easily. It is a bit remote. Buy all of the stuff you need before you go. Kitchen is well-appointed. Surprisingly great internet speeds.

Bring gnat spray. They’re not everywhere, but where they are, they’re for sure there.

Beautiful place. Don’t miss it! It’s pretty special.

Gorgeous and Serene

  • 5 of 5

This review is actually for the Eco Refuge in Inverness, as my reservation for the Tree House needed to be canceled due to unforeseen maintenance issues. The Eco Refuge is a really special property - homey and comfortable, with very unique architecture and beautiful grounds. It was the perfect place for my girlfriends and I to get away for the weekend. The surrounding area is picturesque, close to hiking and all other Pt. Reyes activities. The owner and architect, Sim, was very kind and a great host. It made the weekend so special! Thank you Sim!

No expense was spared in the building of this house. Every room is beautifully appointed, and the views from every window carefully framed. What a magical place. Thank you for sharing!

Comfort on top of the world

  • 5 of 5

The road up is quite a journey, but once you are there, wow. We used the house for a family gathering of 6 adults and one infant. There was plenty of bedroom space, though only one large common room with a kitchen space--so if you weren't in your room you were around everyone else.

The siting is spectacular, with amazing inland views across Tomales Bay from the front yard, and ocean views a short walk away. We took two hikes on the national seashore's trail system, which has a trailhead (and small parking area) just steps from the house.

The kitchen was well equipped, and the house was in great shape, and generally comfortable and cozy. We appreciated that the property manager arranged a late check out our last day. Would highly recommend!

The Treehouse in October

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 2 wonderful nights in this house.

Everything about it was heavenly for our group of 7.

The house floats up high above the land in the clouds.

It was comfortable, warm and spacious.

The kitchen was well-equipped and there were plenty of great books to read on a foggy day.

There are great trails right outside the door.

Everyone in our group had a great time and we truly felt lucky to be there.

Thank you to the owners of this house!

Map

Car: necessary

The Tree House sits at the top of the Inverness Ridge, with views across Tomales Bay to the rolling hills and on a clear day you can see Mt. Helena.  Towards the Southwest you can get a peek of the Farallone Islands through the trees.  It's all trees and trails and vistas up here.  The nearest neighbor is about 200 yards away through the forest.
