About Joe Shuford
I am semi retired from the medical business and my wife is a nurse at MUSC. We own several properties next door and are big fans of this area. We have one son and live in the old village in Mt Pleasant. In fact our home is only 4 blocks away from this property. Though we have recently acquired this property it is our goal to provide the best experience possible for your stay. The previous owner has done a fantastic job renovating and setting the tone of happy clients for the last 3 years. We plan to carry on that same level of service in hopes that you return for many more visits to our wonderful city.
Joe Shuford purchased this House in 2016
Why Joe Shuford chose Old Village
You cannot get a better location than this one. A private house one block from Shem Creek. The beaches are close, the heart of Charleston is a 12 minute drive and inside of 3 blocks are coffee shops, restaurants, a beverage super store, antique malls and more. All this and a very nice private property with outdoor living space.

Clean and very charming
This is an amazing place to stay. It was close to everything: shopping, eating, boat tour, kayaking, beach, night life. We were able to meet Joe, who was able to give us other points of interest and welcomed us to his cottage. It’s a definite place we would return to and our high anxiety dog really appreciated the fenced in area and patio. 😄 Fabulous!!!
Our 34th VRBO home in 15 years. Great home and terrific location...An owner that welcomes you and more importantly YOUR DOG!
If you like good seafood-Mt. Pleasant not your place...But, if you love GREAT SEAFOOD it is your place.
Terrific cottage with no detail withheld...
One of best restaurants I have ever eaten in for just PURE terrific seafood is Page's Okra Grill...only one block from cottage!
The best for good seafood and coastal dining is Saltwater Cowboy on Shem Creek (actually large river)... Neat place you have to visit.
Beach walking? Yep...Sullivan's Island, maybe 15 minutes.
When you do Charleston historic district make lunch reservation at Magnolia's...really neat restaurant with great food.
We ate out several times a day and walked to every one except Magnolia's...unreal.
Would we go again? How about May-2019.

Fantastic place to stay.
Luxurious and centrally located to all that the Charleston/Mt. Pleasant/Isle of Palms area has to offer. Short walking distance to Shem Creek and some great restaurants. Absolutely would stay there again.
207 Scott has everything you need to feel at home. Just spent 8 days here with my wife and we loved it. Greatest asset is location. Easy, short walk to several great restaurants, & shopping. Shem Creek is less than a half mile away-but if you prefer something more historic-walk to Old Town Mt Pleasant for more great restaurants, shopping and lovely homes. There’s also a nice (private) fenced area in the backyard if you’d like a quiet evening at home. Joe made himself available, although he was not intrusive. ‘Highly recommend this place for small family or couple vacay.
Cute little house in nice location
Very nice house with obvious upgrades throughout. The place was very well kept and perfect for our family of four to visit. The location was nice as well. Page's Okra grill was walking distance and absolutely delicious so we enjoyed having somewhere to eat so close. There was construction close by one street over that we heard occasionally and you do hear some traffic but it was not overbearing amount of noise by any means. It would not be something to keep me from returning. It is well stocked with linens and towels which was very nice compared to some other rentals we've stayed in that required us to bring our own - sometimes it's nice not having to pack so much for vacation! Also a big plus for us was being able to bring our two small dogs. The owner was very easy to book with and super nice. He communicated every very clearly and even called us after we got there to explain a recent change in one of the rooms (a pipe had leaked prior to our stay) and make sure there weren't any problems with it for us as well as apologize (although it was not a problem for us at all).
Easy walk to everything we needed
From the decorations to the coastal feel of cottage, we couldn’t have asked for anything more inviting. We could walk to Vintage Coffee for breakfast. Several dinner spots between a 5 and 10 minute walk. So many fun things in the area and centrally located. No need to worry about parking at all the hotspots since it is an easy walk. Thank you for such a wonderful stay
