Rustic Lake Home on Lake 5 - 2 bedroom 1 bath - sleeps 10
About Ryan McDermott
Our family grew up in Shelby, MT and used to spend family weekends at the Lake 5 resort. We bought our first summer cabin on Lake 5 in July of 1984 and have been enjoying Lake 5 and Glacier National Park ever since. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Ryan McDermott purchased this Cabin in 1985
Why Ryan McDermott chose Columbia Falls
We bought this property in 1985, and our Gandpa lived there year round for many years. For the past 15 years we have been able to share this place with many family and friends over the years building many priceless memories.
What makes this Cabin unique
This home is a great place to get away from the fast paced world and relax in one of the most beautiful areas of MT. Our rustic home has a private beach on Lake 5, and is within minutes of whitewater rafting, fly fishing, hikes, restaurants, helicopter tours, and all that Glacier National Park has to offer.

Great place minutes from west glacier
Awesome lil cabin
Grandpa's Cabin was great.
Very close to Glacier entrance. The lake & dock was amazing for the kids.
Grandpa’s Cabin was the perfect home base for our family for two nights while we explored Glacier.
We spent all of our waking time roasting marshmallows by the fire and jumping off the dock while watching the sunrise and sunset!
Great place close to the park
This little cabin was great. The only things I would point out are that it says 2 bedrooms and it does have 2, but you have to walk through one to get to the other one, so if you're looking for privacy keep that in mind. It also says the kitchen is well stocked. It was for 3 people, it wouldn't be for 10 (the max # of people possible). It would be nice if they got some new silverware (it all bent easily) and knives (couldn't cut much very easily) and we had to run vinegar through the coffee pot 3 times before it got clean and would take less than 45 minutes to brew a pot of coffee. We left a corkscrew there, but it's not very good, so if you're a wine drinker bring your own :-). Another heads up is that it's a very steep trail without railing to the dock...just FYI. It was very clean and very close to the park, the water pressure and hot water were great in the shower, and there were games and puzzles that were fun. It's a very simple and dated cabin and supplies, so if you know that going in you won't be disappointed.
Fun at Grandpa’s Cabin
We had a fantastic time at Grandpa’s Cabin. The proximity to Glacier Nation Park was great, and we all slept very comfortably. Loved the dock!
Very comfortable cabin for family trip
There’re four beds in total in this property which comfortably accommodates our family of 6. The cabin located in a lake resort which is safe and quiet. There’s a lake nearby and the water is sparkly clean. The cabin has everything we need. Five minutes fro west Glacier. Overall very nice stay!
