About Tom Albert

My wife Karen and I just celebrated 28 years of marriage. We live in Cashiers North Carolina on Lake Glenville. I am a chimney sweep and own Cashiers Chimney Professionals. We have been in business here for 30 years.

Tom Albert purchased this house in 2004

Why Tom Albert chose Twinbrook

We were not looking for a rentail property, but our friend Paul Heathman with Dream Reality show us the property and we saw the potentail and feel in love with it. Ofcourse we did a lot of work to the house, new kitchen, added the deck and hot tub, removed the carpit and finnished the hardwood floors. Painted inside and out. This year we totally renovated the 2 downstairs bathrooms and added a 1/2 bath to the upstairs loft. FUN!

What makes this house unique

A couple of unique benefits that stand out. The rushing creek is awesome. It is a stocked creek with trout. The large deck overlooking the creek with the hot tub. Being able to walk to the town of Maggie is nice. Being close to Cattaloochee is a bonus, and the easy drive in and out is also nice.

Great cabin and perfect location. Our family had a terrific stay! Would definetly rent again!

The cabin was awesome. Everything we needed was there. Location was very accessible and close to activities in Maggie. We loved the creek right at the property and enjoyed the firepit.

I would love to return there again with my family and would recommend this cabin to others.

Positives: It has a gas fireplace and the outdoor fire pit was nice. We bought wood at Ingles. In case of heavy snow, it’s right off the main highway so easy to get in and out. The kitchen was stocked with cleaning supplies, making it easy to clean up. New refrigerator with door ice maker and filtered water. Plenty of pots and pans. There is a crock pot. Starter paper towels and toilet paper supplied. The House was fairly clean. Hot water is great and we never ran out. Water pressure very good in the shower.

Cons: The washer and dryer is outside in a shed. If raining or snowing, you will be running through the elements. Laundry was still in the dryer. We took it out while there and put it back in upon departure. The trash from the previous guests was piled up on the carport. Although we pulled the can to the curb for them, it was never picked up by the trash company. We were there a week and left ours on the carport because it looked so bad piled up at the street. AT&T internet worked intermittently and slow, slow, slow. We used our cellular data. While Dish TV is provided, the living room TV is connected to the master bedroom. Whatever is playing on one, is playing on both. The TV in the loft is on a separate line. There is no TV in the second bedroom. We arrived after midnight and none of the beds were made. The linens will be laying on the mattress for you to make upon arrival. There are three blankets and eight bath towels.

In summary...the nightly rate is reasonable & I feel like we got what we paid for. The cons are not meant to be derogatory, but rather a statement of facts. This is a good, middle of the line, rental property that the owner is obviously making upgrades over time. I would feel comfortable recommending to others.

Overall pretty good!

  • 4 of 5

Overall we loved this place!! You can hear the creek flowing!! Pets have been in this house. I must have missed that detail. My MIL is allergic and there was cat hair everywhere. Not tons but enough that you could see it on the floors here and there; enough for her to be sick with allergies! Ugh!! But if your not allergic - like I’m was not a big deal. The house looked and smelled clean. The jacuzzi heater was broken for our visit....which was no bueno since we had a ton of snow. I called the owners and they were very attentive. Overall a great place to stay!! I would recommend!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We appreciate and learn from constructive commits. We do consider pets, but the pet hair you found is not acceptable and it will be address with house keeping. I know you are disappointed with the hot tub heater going out. Thank you for letting me know when you were there. The part came in and it is working now. Thank you again for your comments! Tom and Karen

Girl's Trip 2017

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely LOVED our stay at Nature's Bounty in Maggie Valley! This makes our ninth (or maybe tenth?) girl's trip to this cabin. It's in a great location with a beautiful creek running behind it. Great yard for playing cornhole!! The cabin is very comfortable and the owners, Tom and Karen, are great people. It is located between Cherokee and Waynesville, and close enough to Asheville to go to the Biltmore or shopping for the day. We opted to canoe the French Broad River and hike the Graveyard Fields trail...perfect opportunity to do some driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Although we just wrapped our annual trip, we can't wait for our next trip!

Loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

Set on a rushing creek you can listen to rushing water from the large screened porch, which is fully furnished for a family to relax on.

Positives: Very clean.

Off the beaten track -- at the back of the property a few hundred feed from the highway.

If you are looking for relaxation this is the spot.

Pet friendly, but you'd never know any pets have been there.

Large yard for walking pets.

The directions were clear, and easy to find.

We would return.

Negatives: After a long drive, and ready to go to bed all of us found the beds weren't made -- could be unfair for mom with rooms of children who is ready for her own R&R.

Upon checkout you are expected to take to trash out to curb sided, and strip all the beds, and gather towels and place in the kitchen.

We found the spa to be unusable do to the extremely high chlorine content -- we could smell the chlorine from the edge of the property.

Romantic Beautiful Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Nature's Bounty is a beautiful scenic getaway with all the amenities of home. It was so cozy, on a quiet little street, and the creek that ran along the property was just an added bonus! We would definitely be open to renting it again.
