Alison is a recently retired teacher while John is retired from Ciba-Geigy and from instructing the Dale Carnegie Course. They make their primary home in New Jersey, close to 15 grandchildren. Alison summered on Cape Cod from the mid-1950's when her Grandparents retired to the Cape from the Berkshires to escape mountain snows. The house is Alison and John's second home when others are not there to enjoy it and they keep it immaculate and updated. Their caretaker and grounds keeper lives right down the street and is always available when needed.
Why they chose this property
The original property was a single lot and the original small cape cod home was built by a local contractor for my grandparents when they retired. The original home passed down to the next generation, and my father decided to expand and update the home to fulfill the dreams so often spoken of by the women of the family. Today it is a lovely airy home, fully updated, environmentally sound, new furnace, new windows, and a second piece of property to keep and expand the feeling of the original wooded property.
What makes this property unique
The minute you walk in the door, you feel the tensions of life fall away. The large windowed family room just welcomes you in, and soon you find it is the center of your time in the house. It leads you to the deck where we love to share our meals outdoors, or sit quietly to read a great book. The kitchen is wonderfully spacious for cooking. Step out the door and you are only minutes from every possible Cape Cod activity or restaurant due to the home's central location. Or just stay on the property and enjoy...there is lots available to do right there! Badminton, soccer, foosball, air hockey, board games. It truly is a Home Away From Home...... and you have the time to enjoy it!
