Trinity River Cabin, Willow Creek
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The cabin is located in the rural northern California mountains, with the wild and scenic Trinity River just 100 yards away. Just four miles from town, you are out in the country. Some folks have said the cabin is not as rustic as they thought it would be, we enjoy it's simple, comfortable style.
Summers are warm which makes the river swimming delightful, spring and fall are very pretty, and winter is often rainy and cool, no real snow sticks in the valley, but the mountain pass can see it's share. We have had visitors enjoy all seasons.
Salmon and steelhead fishing, rafting and kayaking are major activities. Or take a day trip to the coast and the Redwood National Park and beaches. Restaurants and a grocery store, golf course and tennis court in Willow Creek make your stay comfortable. Back roads for biking, the Trinity Alps and Marble Mountain Wilderness Areas are nearby, some hiking trails lead out of the valley as well. Or just relax and let the river flow.

We stayed 4 days in this beautiful house and enjoyed it very much. The first day we saw a little river turtle on the beach and deer. We swam in the river and it was gorgeous. We enjoyed the redwoods and the northcoast end, made a trip to the wilderness. Fantastic!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The photos depicted the place accurately. No surprises when we pulled into the driveway. Beautiful, private setting with the river just steps away from the balcony. We completely enjoyed the solitude and warmth of the small local town. We traveled throughout the area quite a bit, took several long hikes. rafted on the river, went deep sea fishing, and enjoyed the fresh organic food of the region. The great thing about this cabin is that we were able to cook our own meals on the grill and stove, and use the washer & dryer. We loved looking through the windows at night as we lay in bed. The trees created a barrier from the sun during the day, and the light fixtures were a bit dim - so the cabin was a little dark in the morning. If you want to put on makeup you'll need to step out on the balcony to be able to see better (but, I didn't mind that). My husband and I we were the only two in the cabin, but, there is plenty of room for more people. There is a local video store that came in handy at night since the cabin has a DVD player. We would recommend this vacation spot and hope to return again soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The property is beautiful and well-maintained with a lovely view of the Trinity River and far enough from town for quiet but close enough for groceries and other necessities. There is a nice yard with river access, and when we were there in July, there were some shallow and sheltered areas appropriate for carefully-supervised wading and splashing at the river's edge. (But the river is quite fast, so this would NOT be safe for small children or for swimming.) The owners were helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for our stay and to answer every question we had. At the end of our stay, my nieces were begging to come back again next summer. (I meant to write a review earlier but better late than never...)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the nice review! We are so glad you had a great vacation. The river is strong in early July, but as the summer progresses it slows down, and the rocks in the middle create a protected area for swimming, of course we always recommend life jackets for kids and close supervision, kids like to dig in the sand so much they stay busy!We used to set up the sprinkler when they were small too and that is always a hit on a summer day.

My husband and I wanted to visit California and experience as much as we could in the week we had. We stayed in this beautiful mountain/river house for only 4 nights of our week, and didn't want to leave. We enjoyed going to the Redwoods and did some hiking in the Six Rivers National Forest. Evenings were spent by the river, cooking and sitting on the deck. A beautiful home with a lot of beautiful scenery. We could not have asked for more, everything was as expected if not better. We would love to bring more family back to this area of Northern California. Thanks to the owners for the wonderful house and all the help with things to do while we were there.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at Trinity River Cabin. We agree, it is a special spot on the earth. Hope to see you again in the future!

A friend and I stayed with our 6 kids (ages 3-10) for three nights in early June. We wanted a quiet spot where the kids could play and we could chat. Although we had the maximum number for the cabin, we were quite comfortable and had sufficient supplies for bathing and eating. The new deck was quite nice, and we appreciated that a good portion of it was covered, as there was some rain during our stay but the kids could still play outside. I imagine this would also be a great shady spot later in the summer. The kids had a fantastic time playing by the river, which is just a couple of minutes walk from the cabin. Very convenient for bathroom breaks! There is a large sandy area perfect for sand castles and digging, plus several spots for collecting tadpoles and observing other wildlife. The owner responded promptly to all of our questions beforehand and returned the deposit within a week of our departure. She provided very clear directions so we had no trouble finding the cabin. If I didn't live so far away (northern Oregon), we would definitely return to this spot on a regular basis. I highly recommend it!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented last July and are looking forward to the summer of 2010. The house was just right for us and had everything we needed. We rented a raft and had a wonderful float. Saw an eagle! Quiet and peaceful, the water was great. I highly recommend Trinity River Cabin, and willow creek was a nice town, went out to dinner one night. Folks were friendly.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Absolutely loved the accommodations. It had everything we needed including a washer and dryer. Loved going down to the river to swim. We enjoyed our stay in Willow Creek and rafted down the river and saw the cabin along the way. We stayed there with our 5 children and it worked great. Our youngest is 5 and the spiral staircase did not pose a problem. I definitely recommend this cabin.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My friends and I had a great stay at the cabin during our fishing trip. We found it to be clean, cozy, functional, and well equipped. The steelhead fishing was pretty good where our group fished from Willow Creek to Weitchpec, and the salmon were in good numbers at Weitchpec with some showing up further upstream. The riffle behind the house was dead which really surprised us! We always seem to manage to catch a few steelhead out of it during the past 20 something years.Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: We are a middle aged couple with two children. We work full time and enjoy our vacation home when we can and enjoy sharing it with others. It is a special place to us and has created many happy family memories. We have some families return year after year, so it has become a happy family memories for them as well!
Why the Owner Chose Willow Creek:
The Trinity River is a very beautiful natural setting. We bought the property to enjoy the sun, as we live in the coastal fog belt. We wanted a place right on the river so we can easily swim and relax. And the climate is perfect to grow a summer garden. We love the town of Willow Creek, which has so many activities available, such as the rafting companies that rent boats and provide guided trips. There are no crowds and there is everything you might need.
