Location: Wallingford, Seattle, Puget Sound, Washington State, USA (45th st. and Wallingford, seattle) View Map
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
Keywords: House, bungalow, cottage
Charming bungalow in Wallingford (less than 6 miles from city center) - one of Seattle's best urban neighborhoods, nestled between Fremont and the University District. The house is in a safe and quiet but vibrant neighborhood and is only a 10-minute drive to downtown locations such as Pike's Place Market, the Space Needle, several museums, Capitol Hill, Key Arena, both Safeco and Qwest/Century Link fields, and to downtown ferries to Bainbridge Island or the Clipper to Victoria. It is only minutes away from the University of Washington, Seattle Pacific University, and the zoo. Bus service is within blocks. Easy on-street parking.
The house is in a great walking neighborhood (WALKING SCORE 97/100!) - within walking distance of many restaurants and cafes, two movie theaters, a grocery store, banks, shops, and bars. Walk down the hill to the south to Gas Works Park on the northern shore of Lake Union with incredible views of downtown and the Space Needle. Or walk north to Green Lake, one of the most popular parks in the city with rental boats, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, a city 9-hole golf course, community swimming pool, and a 3-mile walking trail around the lake. There are two wonderful playgrounds less than six blocks away, and a smaller one a half block away. There are two wading pools for young children: one about 5 blocks to the south and one at Green Lake.
The house was built in 1916 - it has a very private fenced-in patio, a nice front porch with room for two, a soaking tub in the master bath, and a large living room. All on one floor. Two bedrooms contain queen beds; a hide-a-bed in the living room can accommodate two additional guests. Hardwood floors throughout. An ideal home for two couples to share or a family in town for a wedding, graduation, vacations, or reunions. For "unrelated" friends, a third, very small bedroom with a double bed is available for $50 extra per night (on the same floor). Let me know if you want this option. The limit of guests for the house remains at 6 total.
WiFi internet and flat screen TV with comcast cable included.
A portable crib is available upon request.
The Skansonia, a popular wedding venue, is just down the street. In fact, with the new patio just installed, it would be a perfect spot for a rehearsal dinner.
As I know plans change, I allow refunds up to 30 days before the occupancy period. For that reason, I have a waiting list for last minute cancellations. If the time period is listed on the calendar is "unavailable," you can request to be placed on the waiting list.

Seattle Bungalow in a Perfect Location!
Year Purchased: 1992
Why the Owner Chose Wallingford
Looked like a great neighborhood, close to everything, and easy to access from a variety of directions
The Unique Benefits at this House
The best part about this house is the neighborhood. There are two major roadways into downtown, plus numerous side streets (and three more bridges). But in the neighborhood, great restaurants are within walking distance: Tilth, Musashis, Eva's, Kisaku, Julias, Bizarros, Joule, Blue Star Pub, Tutta Bella, Murphy's Pub, Smash Wine Bar, Tangletown Pub, several Thai places and too many other restaurants and coffee houses to list. And you are close to other great neighborhoods like Fremont, Ballard, Phinney Ridge, Green Lake, University District and Eastlake.
Old school house with shops. Also, QFC for groceries, Bartells Rx, Pharmacia, numerous restaurants and bars
Great restaurants: Elysian Pub, Kisaku (excellent sushi), Eva's (elegant bistro), Luau (Hawaiian), Zoka (espresso), Hiroki (amazing bakery)
Owner's Map of Wallingford
Photo at left is just before snowmachine ride on Vatnajokul Glacier in Iceland, summer 2009. Renting out my home during the summer has allowed me to travel quite a bit.
Update: 2011 - Have also been to Buenos Aires; heading to Turkey this summer.
I've lived in this house for about 18 years. It is a wonderful home in a fun and vibrant neighborhood. Even though we're just 10 minutes from the downtown core, the sought-after neighborhood of Wallingford feels like a small town. The home was built in 1916.
I grew up in Rhode Island and the Bay Area, then spent 14 years in Alaska, finally landing here in Seattle, the perfect combination of city, salt water, and mountains.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be able to return sometime. It was great. The description of the property is accurate. The charming, warm, well maintained house has everything needed for a pleasant, relaxing stay and is located in an area that makes getting out and doing things easy. We walked to the zoo. Parking our rental car on the street in front of the house was not a problem. I felt at home in this house. There was nothing that I wanted that wasn't provided. The owner was very helpful but not intrusive. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Great house and a great stay in Wallingford. The house is a very cozy period home with tons of charm. Our 3 year old daughter kept pulling old board games out the games from the closet. The beds were all comfortable and the furnace kept us southern Californians warm in the northwest winter. The owner was a pleasure the deal with.

I rented this house with five other midwife students and we made it our home. It was so amazing for us that we rented it for an entire week, three months in a row. We spent most of our time in the kitchen where everything we needed was provided. There was enough space for us to spread out and study without disturbing one another. It was also close enough to restaurants and shopping that we just parked the car and walked. Bridget was so helpful and came by on different occasions to make sure we were settled and had what we needed. Thanks so much for the flexibility and comfort!

We stayed at the Seattle bungalow for a week stay in Seattle and were incredibly pleased! It was clean, the beds comfortable with great pillows and linens, kitchen well equipped, laundry on site, convenient location to grocery shopping and tourist sites. The back patio was great to entertain and have a cookout. When returning from festivities, we felt like we were returning home. We had an incredibly pleasant stay and will definitely stay there again our next trip to Seattle.

My parents,my husband and I had a great week in Seattle at Bridget's bungalow. Perfect location for walking to restaurants, the grocery store and shops. The bungalow itself had all that we needed and is a good size for two couples. The patio was put to good use as well. I definitely recommend this rental.

This is our second time to stay at the bungalow. Each time was great. It is in a wonderful neighborhood with a great park with children's playground and lots of restaurants and shops, all within easy walking distance. This time was for our daughter's wedding and we had an open house the day after, with 50 people using the back patio. It couldn't have been better. When my husband and I and our other daughter, son-in-law and grandson arrived this second time, we all felt like we were coming home -- we had so enjoyed our previous week there. Bridget is immediately responsive for anything that comes up - either before arriving or while there.

Our group stayed in mid-June and we had a great stay at the house. The description of the house was very accurate and the photos on the website depicted the house accurately also. The house was very clean when we arrived and there were many extra linens provided. We were traveling with kids, so the washer and dryer were essential. The owner let us know she would be in the area if we needed anything. The parks around the house were great, especially Meridian Park, and Kidd Valley was a great burger place that was within walking distance. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.
