Large, beautiful bedrooms, all with comfortable, name-brand King or Queen beds that assure quality sleep and a stunning, stone wood-burning fireplace (ample firewood included) that is just awesome on those cold, winter nights.
The unique, full bathroom has an open, 6' walk-in tile shower with multiple windows and distant views. It also has as an oversize soaking tub, a real treat! Conveniently, this main bathroom is accessible from common living space as is the half-bath upstairs so no traipsing through someone else's bedroom on your way to the loo ;-).
The extensive patio and deck area is absolutely gorgeous. It is ultra private and surrounded by boulders and lush, year-round greenery, the lower section has the hot tub and overlooks the incredible mountain creekbed.

The large master suite has a Queen bed, sink, loveseat and a side door that opens onto its own private deck leading down to the hot tub. The second "Room With a View" is upstairs and has a King bed, beautiful view and the French doors lead out onto a private balcony, overlooking the creek.
Also upstairs is the third and coziest "Lodge" room which has a Queen-size bed and several delightful, distant views. All three bedrooms have ceiling fans, their own sitting/reading areas and writing desks, adding to the comfort and privacy of each individual room.
SierraScape is exceptionally well-suited for couples, small families, and friends traveling together so come and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of local wine outside on the deck and enjoy the STARS or the sunrise over the hills from the comfort of the full-size, open-air hot tub. Take a short hike around the property or simply relax in front of the fire here in this exceptionally clean, easy to find, well-appointed and peaceful retreat.

While SierraScape is ideally located for enjoying all that Yosemite and its surrounding areas have to offer, it is also perfect for folks keen on being able to just sit back, relax and enjoy themselves in their own private paradise (and never encounter the tourists!).
SierraScape sits well off Hwy 49 just nine easy miles south of the historic Gold Rush town of Mariposa and is ideally located between two different entrances to Yosemite National Park, both well under an hour away. These two entrance routes (Highway 41 and Highway 140) offer a myriad of terrific activities and attractions along the way to the park.
Hwy 140, the scenic “all weather highway”, meanders through the Wild and Scenic Merced River Canyon and takes you directly into Yosemite Valley. The Merced River Recreation Area at Briceburg is just 14 miles away and has small, sandy beaches just perfect for picnics, wading, and summertime swimming. The river is also great for fishing, hiking, camping, wild life viewing, and for the even more adventurous, white-water rafting and kayaking. There are several commercial rafters who provide trips down portions of the river.
Traveling in the other direction up Hwy. 41 outside of Oakhurst you’ll find things to see and do such as the world famous Mariposa Grove’s Giant Sequoias, Goat Meadow Winter Sports Area where you can cross-country ski or let the kids play and sled in the snow, beautiful Bass Lake with it's water sports, beaches and restaurants and the historic Sugar Pine Railroad adventure, just to name a few.
You can enjoy downtown Mariposa's historic charm, it’s art galleries, antique and gift shops as well as the California State Mining Exhibit and the Mariposa Gold Country Museum. You can visit it’s history center and California's oldest operating courthouse, or Tour local wineries and taste some of the area's award-winning mountain wines.

Jerry and I (Kirsty) are both semi-retired professionals and consider ourselves extremely fortunate to live so close to Yosemite. We are local, managing owners who live a convenient 10 miles away from this home (we do not reside on any of our rental properties). We have over 35 combined years living in the Yosemite area and are nearly always available for assistance without EVER being underfoot or intrusive.
Please know that our guest's comfort and satisfaction are EXTREMELY important to us and we take great pride and pleasure in providing those who have trusted our representation of our homes an experience that well exceeds their highest hopes and expectations.
While we do not solicit the posting of positive, online comments from our highly valued guests, we have inserted into this listing several entries from our visitor's book, left there at the house which we felt aptly, and often poetically described the experiences that people from around the globe have enjoyed while staying at SierraScape. Why the Owner Chose Mariposa
In 2002, we were left to decide which of our two homes we would live in. It was a difficult decision but we decided to stay where we are now and rather than lose our ability to continue enjoying all of the luxury and wonders of SierraScape (by renting it out full-time, selling was NEVER a consideration as Jerry built it). We thought we'd instead try offering The Scape to vacationers who were looking to stay somewhere special, near Yosemite National Park but who also desired to be AWAY from the crowds once they'd been there.
We are happy and humbled to say that SierraScape has been a HUGE hit as a vacation rental and in the five years since its inception has become one of the most popular, and sought after places in the area and is now experiencing a significant percentage of return rentals as guests continue to come back, year after year, often alternating seasons so as to experience it anew, each time they arrive.
Everyone seems pleased with that 2002 decision. ;-)
The Unique Benefits of this Custom, Tri-Level Home
Some of the totally unique benefits of staying at SierraScape are, well, the creek, for starters, the sight and sounds of it are incredible and the creekside seating and sandy beaches just a 30' pathway away are SO inviting.
There's the custom, awesome architecture, especially the catwalk that looks down over the main level, and then there's the shower ;-)... It's really big and shares its space with the soaking tub so you can combine a shower and bath, together if you like, all the while enjoying the wilderness, right out the knee-height windows. Talk about unique.
I know of nowhere else in this area that has anything comperable to the Scape's lush, blossoming, and sunny (some shade) Garden Deck where you'll find your very own, private, full-size Spa, overlooking that creek.
Can't neglect mentioning the beautiful stone fireplace that was built from rocks out of the creek, or the firewood we provide. There are also tasteful, comfortable and contemporary furnishings as well as a Non-Toxic, unscented earth-friendly environment and our guests consistently comment on all the "special touches" we've though of, throughout the house and grounds.
Gold panning in the creek is fun, too, and there's more but we don't want to give it ALL away, so please, come and find our for yourself.
