  We stayed for a week in mid-October, 2012 and had a very enjoyable time with the whole family (seven). Virginia Dare is a nicely furnished and comfortable home that is well equipped with all the glasses, dinnerware and pots and pans and silverware you'll ever need. It is very convenient to the beach and the hot tub and pool were wonderful. We would definitely want to return for another family gathering! The owners were easy to work with and helpful.

  Great location - The house was very clean and the beach walk was right across the street. Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans etc.....Pool had a radio wired from the house so you could listen to music. Food Lion was right across street as well as small store down the street. Many places to eat right nearby and Hatteras is not very far down the road. Driving on the beach was less then 5 minutes away which we liked because we fish and enjoy the beach. Not one complaint and the home owners worked very well with you

  Our stay at Virginia Dare was INCREDIBLE! This was our first family trip, and it couldn't have been better. The house itself was beautiful and had every need from games for kids, direct tv in multiple rooms, hot tub, outdoor speakers, pool, super close to the beach, and PET FRIENDLY!! The weather was superb, the quality time in the upstairs outdoor deck with picnic tables was unreal and truly mellow. Cocktails, star gazing, and great conversation. Activities were plenty, my son and I surfed everyday, and he's finally hooked! Avon Pier was a great morning walk location, Okracoke Island was awesome (Visit the Flying Melon for breakfast)! Another thing we really enjoyed was that the house is in an area that was comfortably secluded. We'd walk the dog and not see any cars for days, yet had everything we needed within a 5 min drive. When we wanted a bit of a bigger town feel, a shopping spree, or a bigger restaurant selection, Nags Head/Kitty Hawk was about 40 minutes beautiful drive away. The owners were incredibly helpful with any possible hiccups (minor problem that was corrected within the hour), and or needs we had. We thank you Cheryl for your kindness and your help. My family and our Golden Retriever puppy will not soon forget our vacation at the Virginia Dare. We will definitely be back...again and again, and so will our friends!!

  This was our first trip to the OBX and we can say without a doubt, this was a most desireable experience. This was a beautiful home with plenty of room with room to spare for the six of us. The amenities were perfect and the pool was a joy, especially for our two grandchildren. The owners of this home were more than generous with information as to location and things to see and do as this was our first time in this part of N.C. The beach was just a short walk from the home and although not a water front you can still see the ocean from the rear of the home. Another plus is that you can travel on Friday as this was a Friday to Friday rental with less traffic to and from. We would highly recommend this home to anyone interested in a visit to the OBX. P.S. the steamed crabs were almost as good as Maryalnd crabs!

  First off I have to say, thank you Sherry for being so helpful and informative. My family came to Avon 3 years ago and stayed in a home through a realtor. We enjoyed that trip but,this trip was so much easier to plan with all of Sherry's input. She gave us good tips and idea's that made our vacation much nicer. As for the Pino's home??? Beautiful. Very spacious, clean, well maintained and comfortable. Sherry your descriptions were perfect and the walk to the beach was exactly as you described.The decks are wonderful, just to sit out the decks and hear the ocean was so relaxing!! The views are just perfect. Anyone could enjoy some quiet time alone or family time.So many decks to sit on so little time. Only one draw back (but not a complaint by any means) with the decks,there are no solid deck floors so if you are on the lower deck you will get wet except for where the hot tub is. We just happened to have a rainy week that's all.The rain did not stop us from having fun though. The game room was a perfect retreat for some indoor fun.The Wii was a big hit as well. We had the fridges filled to the max which meant less trips to the store. The "lion King" as we called it was such a short walk just to pick up an Item or two.The drive is about 3 minutes. The plaza has many more little places as well. We had 12 people and 1 dog. We were never under anyone's feet.The gates came in handy for our pup to stay put. Loved the pool and hot tub!! There are ample restaurants in the area. If you don't mind the extra miles,The Hatterasman has simple but great food at a great price. We were only going for ice cream but ended up eating lunch there. Hurricane Heather’s was another good place. Then you have froggy dog that is real close by. Those were a few places our crew went to and enjoyed. I will be referring anyone I know looking for a beach vacation to this home.You speak directly to the owner Sherry, and she makes the whole process more personable. It was a pleasure doing business with her as she is very conscientious about how she does her business and wants the best for her renters. Because of people like her, people like myself are able to go on an affordable vacation and get the best possible experience all through phone calls and mail. Yes, you can view pictures but it is what people have to say that makes a difference .Pictures don't show everything. The reviews really help out. Thanks again Sherry, We had a wonderful time.   We have been coming to the Outer Banks as a family since 2007. Twice we stayed in the same house through a realtor and up until this year we have always used a realtor. A good friend suggested that I try VRBO. From the moment, I found this listing on VRBO and began dealing with Sherry it has been a great experience. The house was everything that was described and more. The proximity to the beach, the space, the rooms, the kitchen, the deck and view, the permanent safety gates for children and pooches are an awesome touch. The single most important thing above all else is that when renting directly from an owner a house sight unseen is wanting to deal with honest and reputable people. Sherry and her husband are very honest, respectful, kind and super responsive. We were there with the maximum 12 people and we never felt crowded or crammed together. Our two golden retrievers were with us and the house was very comfortable for them too. Thank you for allowing us this time in your home.

  Through the initial contact through the final days at the house, this could not have been a better experience. The owners answered every question and went above and beyond in preparing us for this trip. Especially the tip to travel in on Friday to avoid the traffic! We traveled with 4 adults, 4 children aged 8-12 and 3 dogs! We had never been to the Outer Banks area and we could not have asked for a better home. The Avon location is perfect. Not overcrowded and great beaches and restaurants. (Go to the Mad Crabber!) Even with rain for part of 2 days we found plenty to do in the area, as if the pool table, wii, foosball and 5 TV's were not enough in the home! You are literally a 90 second walk to the beach. Actually being across the street was better as you do not have the parade of people on the walkways coming by your home all the time. The pool in the backyard is a great way to cool off at the end of the day as well. Many hours were spent in the comfy chairs on the multiple decks enjoying the views and grilling dinner. We were most impressed with all the attention to detail in the home. "If only we had a white wine chiller..." Oh yeah...it was chilled and in the freezer. Top notch kitchen appliances and gadgets. 3 refrigerators came in most handy as well. Everything we wished we had.....we found in the home. All of the decks and stairs are gated so managing the dogs and kids was not a problem. You are a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk from the Food Lion, which has everything you need. No need to bring food or drink down with you. In this same shopping mall was a beach rental store for scooters and boogie boards and 3 or 4 very nice places to eat. Just bring your clothes...and don't overpack...there is a washer and dryer as well in the home. Getting around the area was easy. You are a 10 to 15 minutes drive from even more restaurants, bars and shops in the neighboring towns. I have traveled all over the world and would recommend this property and location to anyone without hesitation. It was a relaxing trip from start to finish and we will be back! Thank you for a GREAT VACATION!!!

  Previously, my family vacationed in Myrtle Beach and had a terrible experience with the house we rented through VRBO. I was nervous booking through VRBO again, but the Virginia Dare completely surpassed our expectations. I sincerely appreciated working with the owner to rent this house for a week. I spoke to the owner several times to ask about the house, amenities, pool, beach access, and the owner was very happy to answer all my questions. The photos accurately depict what you will rent, but almost do justice to the beauty of the property. This house is amazing! Not only did we have a completely clean house, with brand new linens on the beds, the house was stocked with full cabinets of glassware, utensils, Tupperware, pots, pans, etc. All the items in the house were completely clean and ready to for us to use. The concierge service had the Virginia Dare spotless when we arrived. We also used the concierge service to have the house completely stocked with food when we arrived, so we could avoid a trip to the grocery store when we arrived. The house is directly across from the beach ramp too, so we were able to enjoy the beach everyday. This house is also pet friendly, so we were able to bring our dog for the vacation. Our trip to OBX was amazing and when we travel here again, we will definitely book the Virginia Dare again!

  This house was great!! It was big enough for our two families. The kids loved the game room and hung out in there quite a bit. The house was clean and well-equipped. The dog gaits were a huge plus and our dogs had a great time too. The walk to the beach was fast and easy. We had such a wonderful time that we have already booked our vacation for next year!! We can't wait! Thank you Sherry!!
