Why Todd Dorny chose Poipu
Love living in and near the Poipu area. I surf and fish a lot so it is a dream to live here.

Great location and set up.
This was a perfect location in the Poipu area. Two bedrooms, a lovely balcony and not far from the beach. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
This place at Poipu Crater is very convenient to use as a base to explore he south and west coast!
We really liked the location and the place was well appointed and comfortable. Walking distance to Poipu Beach for sunset viewing or snorkeling. Conveniently located and short drive to Old Koloa Town and shops and restaurants. Good base for exploring west coast beaches and hikes. The place was so comfortable - loved the nice breeze and the sounds of the birds and the wind in the trees. Todd was very accommodating with our departure time which made a big difference for the last few hours of our Kauai vacation. We would stay there again!
We loved this place! Thank you so much!
We had a wonderful time and were sad to leave.
The condo was super quiet in a lovely quiet neighborhood. We could hear the ocean most of the time, but we could not see the ocean.
A short walk to the beach.
The rooms were perfect for our needs and pleasing to the eye.
The lanai with the large round table and views of trees and flowers was so pleasant, everyday.
We barely saw any neighbors but the ones we saw were very friendly and helpful.
Swimming pool was private and easy to access. Barely saw anyone there.
Todd was easy to communicate with, very accessible by phone, and he helped us with anything we needed.
We found that the blender was missing a part, and he bought a new blender and delivered it to us so that we could make smoothies.
The owner was, thankfully, *very* accommodating and gracious. Especially when we told him the house did not meet our expectations and that, after 1 night (of a 10 day booking), we would be vacating the property. I am saddened to report the following summary. Although secluded and quiet, the location in Poipu Crater inhibits the trade winds air circulation, so the house is very, very hot. The jalousie windows throughout do not allow for proper air flow, especially since they are only at the bottom third of each window wall (the living room windows are blocked by furniture). Some of the window slats are missing, some of the handles are broken. Wooden window frames in the kitchen are rotted and falling apart. Several electrical outlets in the bedrooms are inaccessible. One of the sliding screen doors was torn off the frame. Bedside lights were broken. Appliances are rusty from the salty ocean air. One of the much needed ceiling fans was not working. The exterior dining table you see in the photo is the ONLY table for a family meal (there is a small breakfast bar in the kitchen). The sliding doors to the deck don't lock. Two minor issues, but worth mentioning: there are no towel bars or toilet paper holders in the bathrooms. The house is NOT near the beach... unless you're willing to hike downhill about 1/3 mile and, of course, UP hill to return after a long day in the sun. (Just FYI... you can't see, hear or smell the wonderful Pacific Ocean from this space.) The house is in sore need of general upkeep and repair. If you're a family who will be out and about exploring this beautiful island every day and not spending a lot of time in the house, then much of this may not be important to you. However, these issues were *very* important to us. It costs a pretty penny to rent this space and, even if it's not perfect, I fully expected accommodations better than this.
Wonderful! The pictures don't really tell the whole story
I had a feeling that the pictures on the website do not quite tell the full story and I'm happy to say that I was right! This condo is HUGE! 2 floors, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, huge living room, big kitchen, washer and dryer, gigantic lanai, and all the necessities. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil. You may wonder what the creaking sound is at night. I thought it was an open door that somebody forgot to lock, but it's actually the beautiful huge trees outside and their branches rubbing against one another :) You can pick the papayas right from the tree by the tennis court! The pool is decent and very deep, perfect for diving, but we only used it on the last day since we spent our time on the beach. The tennis court is excellent! The grills near the pool were the main letdown for us though :( They are very greasy and absolutely useless! If you're able to grill something on either of those 2 horrendous beasts, you're in luck! We stuck to cooking in the condo.
Now the condo itself. It is wonderful, not quite perfect. It was great for our long stay in Kauai, but some things can stand out for some so I'll mention them. The housekeeping, just as previous reviews have mentioned, left much to be desired, but Todd was great in handling the issues we had and he actually contracted with a new cleaner, who I believe has done a wonderful job preparing the condo for the next guests (not that she really needed to do a whole lot, since we cleaned and washed most things before we left).
The kitchen is very well supplied and everything you may need - dishes, cooking utensils, etc. You will see some corrosion on the window panes, but this is a tropical environment, so no surprise there, it's inevitable, not really bothersome. Some lights were burnt out in the kitchen and the kitchen ceiling fan and light did not work, but it's no big deal, we ate all our meals out on lanai.
The upstairs bathroom and the sink are a bit aged, the fixtures are loose, and the plumbing is also a bit leaky under the sink, but it's perfectly usable.
The TVs in the master bedroom upstairs and in the living room are great, we just rarely watched them, because we were in Hawai'i and on vacation, so there were better things to do than watch TV.
Internet works great!
Overall a very nice condo and a very enjoyable stay. Thank you very much for a great experience!
